At first, I thought it might be a bit of a response to what Rio Tinto CEO Jakob Stausholm said about brines in their Rio/Arcadium presentation......but then understood that the podcast was about Hydroxide and Spodumene Futures contracts. Is the future in Lithium Spodumene?

I enjoyed Darko's comments RE Chinese innovation. I was a little confused with the petalite piece.. to my knowledge this petalite is seaborne as there is not yet any refinery at Bikita (though they are planning on building some capacity there eventually). Perhaps what was being referred to was Sinomine's ~60ktpa Chinese conversion, and the innovations to kiln petalite statically and not dynamically (rotating). Note recent articles from Bikita suggesting much of this petalite production at Bikita is now offline. On Zijin's Manono Northeast project I suspect the 21,000x AVZ shareholders are well aware of the 100ktpa LCE plans from Zijin - readers be aware this is a contested tenemant currently in the international arbitration courts - ie. high risk supply won't emerge. Darko was very complimentary on the Chinese Lepidolite facilities - but one of the main issues with Lepidolite is what to do with the tens of millions of Tonnes of waste product produced. It would be good to get Darko's thoughts and knowledge on how the huge amounts of waste are being handled....and at what cost.

Thank you for this, it was very informative. Waiting on news from the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission's hearing. I hope it will be resolved soon. Got SLI last month because the valuation was ridiculously low and 1.20 per share didn't make sense to me, but what do I know (the guy who invested in NMG at all time highs, LOL). But from what I understand is that RIO was buying Arcadium for the DLE tech. if Arcadium is worth 5 or 6 billion it seems that SLI could be worth 1 or 1.5 billion. But again, what do I know. I think NIO will be HUGE though. There is a "standard" for batteries being set in China and "battery swap" is a BIG part of what they are standardizing on. And it make soooo much sense the more I study it. In the US we have 3 grades of gas when you go to the gas station. Battery swap should be the same way if you see where I'm going. When I buy an EV, I don't care to "own" the battery, makes absolutely no sense to me. It would be an unwanted responsibility (conditioning, charging etc.) and hugely depreciating asset. But the biggest and coolest thing with battery swap (and so many detractors miss) is that you can still "charge" the battery. You can do "both". It's a no brainer. Yes, it's expensive to build out the infrastructure but every "major" industry had to build the infrastructure (Amazon and data center for example).

Chinese companies are investing in spodumene rich pegmatite fields in Afghanistan, home to perhaps the greatest rare metal endowment on the planet. The principal Afghanistan pegmatite belt, which spans approximately 900km in length and 200km in width with a SW-NE orientation, contains an abundance of rare metals and strategic elements. This belt is a significant metallogenic belt hosting abundant amount of Li, Cs, Ta, Nb, Rb, Be, Sn, and gem-quality minerals, with an average grade of approximately 1.7% Li2O, around 0.025% Ta2O5 and over 0.03% Nb2O5. It will be interesting to see how this impacts rare metal pricing and supply demand balance.

Howard luv your work fellows but this Paul Graves is a punk. Pure bullshit from a Wall Street Banker. This is a disgrace for Australia shareholders. My loses are 50% minimum on this transaction. Albemarle do not have the where with all. They are dependent on China for the lithium hydroxide processing. Just so disappointing.

As a Canadian I feel like this is a great project with full government support, I will watch the next few years with interest. If this stock was for sale in a North American market, I would be buying. Unfortunately they don’t let us buy Australian stocks in our Canadian tax sheltered accounts., maybe one day.

Hi Guys. The Rio/ Arcadium deal is big news here down under. It it "understood" that RIO's interest in Arcadium in the first place is that Arcadium will take DLE out of the lab and in to full scale implementation and put all hard rock producers to shame. What is YOUR take on DLE?

I got BEYOND lucky on this one. I dumped a good chunk of money a couple weeks ago into the lithium dip, just before the Rio talk. If I didn't know me, I'd claim insider information because I just happened to get in at the perfect time, when it was at 2.50. Right now it's just over 5 and a half, so I more than doubled my money in less than 3 weeks. I bailed today after I heard of an investigation about the acquisition process. I'll tell the grandkids that this was my Warren Buffet move because I doubt I ever pull this miracle off again.

Re Arcadium's Galaxy "deposit", notable amounts of arsenopyrite in footwall and hanging wall of layered pegmatite dykes. That will make it more difficult and expensive to produce a clean spodumene product that chemical plants will accept, and also make for an arsenopyrite disposal problem..... Nemaska looks ok, but doesn't appear to have any upside on size. Will be interesting to see how thorough Rio is on due diligence.
