I clearly remember a Fudge concert, probably 1971. The era of the drum solo. They were usually pretty dull affairs, but Carmine was a madman! All of us down at the front of the stage cheered him on with his performance that would have given anyone else a heart attack. Them was da' daze, huh?

Thank you so much for this interview! Jim Vallance has ling been one if my favorite songwriters. It was really good to listen to him tell his stories and give his perspectives. I first found out about him 40+ years ago, when i saw Bryan on his Cuts Like a Knife tour, opening in a festival lineup for Ozzy Osbourne, 38 Special, and Rush. I was blown away by how good Bryan and his band were. Opening doors, exactly! Then i got home and looked at my brother's Bryan Adams albums. On the album sleeve, there was a large picture of Bryan Adams on the left, Jim Vallance on the right. And then the rest of the credits under them. That made a pretty huge impression on me. I had never seen a cowriter who was not a member of the band displayed so prominently. That told me a lot about the quality and importance of Jim Vallance's songwriting. It also told me a lot about Bryan's sense of fair play and gratitude. Much respect. But Jim Vallance and Bruce Fairbairn together in the same band? That is entirely too much behind the scenes music talent. Wow.

What a lovely man. I'm so glad I managed to see him play, both with the Byrds (Sweetheart lineup) and the Burritos, (with Bernie and Rick.) He and his music have been in my life since I was 11 years old, and I'm 70 now! Such a shame that England was so far away, I would have been to see every gig I could if I had lived in California... Much Love and Admiration Chris, and Happy 80th Birthday from the 4th of December. 🥰😍🥰
