The Rascals
[Please note that this podcast episode was revised in my attempt to correctly pronounce Felix Cavaliere's last name. My apologies to Felix for mispronouncing his name in the original podcast!]
Welcome to Rock and Roll Flashback! I'm Jumpin' John, and in this episode I will highlight the career of the New Jersey band known as The Rascals! In his 1997 speech inducting The Rascals into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Stevie Van Zandt boldly called the Rascals, (and I quote) "the first rock band in the world" (end quote)! Here is how it all started for the Rascals.

1:06 how are you doing today do a bit on the rascals but you can't pronounce Felix's name?
Yes, TonysMusic1974. You are absolutely right! I couldn't pronounce his last name correctly, even after multiple takes. I hope that you (and Felix - who was an amazing musician) can give me some latitude, as I am a feeble 74 year old!
This is one song where Maurice and the boys made it their own. No one can copy it or top it. It's like when Louis Armstrong sings, What a Wonderful World. 👍
Great live band
The only voice that could match that face.
That was very interesting. I am so glad I took the time to watch this.
The greatest most versatile female vocalist of her generation.
2006 Adieu False Heart, a duet album with Cajun singer Ann Savoy, was Linda's last albumn. Very pleasant listening.
Angel of the 1980s+
Angel of the 80s
Angel of the Eighties.
One of the greatest voices of generations the ultimate crossover artist it didn’t matter what genre it was Linda could sing it all more times than not her version of a song was better than the original, Amazing talent ❤🎵Linda is the Real Deal pure talent!!!
Irma , the new orleans gold queen.
One of the greatest voices of generations, Linda is a amazing artist ❤️🎶
😊
Linda is and will always be one of the greatest voices of generations it didn’t matter what genre it was she moved between them effortlessly the ultimate crossover artist Amazing talent always the best of the best❤🎶
I have been a fan since the Stone Pony’s days in late 1960’s Linda is and will always be one of the greatest voices of generations she could move between genres effortlessly a true talent always the best of the best ❤🎶
Fun Fact: In the book "The ABCs of Baseball" L is for Linda Ronstadt. In the early eighties the term for a pitch so fast it left batters watching it go by was called a "Linda Ronstadt" due to her signature song "Blue Bayou". That's because the pitch just "blew by you".
IIRC, in the late 1970s/early 80s, Soundmixers Recording was at 1619, Generation Sound Studios at 1650, Broadway, later Sigma Sound, at 1697 (10th and, later, NE wing of 9th floor), Frankford Wayne Mastering on the 14th floor.
Nice!
The picture is not the Swing Auditorium. It's the original Orange Show exhibit building, which was built in 1929 and destroyed by fire in 1949, the same year the Swing Auditorium was built..
Nice job.
I did not know about the doubling of the orchestral tapes on Pinder’s mellotron to create that distinctive Moodies sound.
Here after watching Part 1. Good you are doing this about my favourite group.
The pronunciation of Warwick is Warrick and not War wick
And me and probably 1968 as well
Thank you 😊interesting
This time
a mega fan since 1968
My Sr year of high school. 8 months later I was a big boy heading off to the land of M-16s and hand grenades!!!
I love Alan Freed and the music he played and represented! I recently put together a RUclips playlist of songs that Alan Freed used to play on the radio, or that were included on his album compilations or in his movies. Check it out sometime!
Great song
Unforgettable Brilliant🎸TRINI LOPEZ❤👏👏👏👏🙏🙏
