My kids have definitely been loving it. My 6 year old in particular is just starting to get into playing cards (War, slapjack, etc.) and is excited to be able to do it himself.

That happened because I didn't split the cards evenly on the first cut (so there was a batch of extra cards on one side that didn't shuffle together). That also happens when you do it the old fashioned way or use a shuffler you'd find at a casino. It takes a number of runs to really make it random. Where this is useful for me is that my young kids' hands can't quite grip and coordinate shuffling cards and this makes it possible for them. Yes, it's somewhat a novelty, but seeing the model on makerworld (I didn't design this -- see the description for a link to the model) inspired me to make a fun project for my kids, who are thrilled.

​@@3Depoll For your kids... Sure it is.... Sorry, but it is practically a running joke by this point. Every time a channel appears that is seemingly just pushing timelapse videos of random cool looking prints unto youtube and gets questioned on WHY they printed the thing in question. Often one gets told the one running the channel is doing it "For my kids"... Most of the time though this is just a lie and its really just somebody printing stuff that either just prints it cause they are a bit overexcited with their big toy OR is trying to get a side-gig going as a showcase. Consider this a heads up that you will be met with skepticism using such explanations. If you feel this is false. Don't blame me, blame the many who abused it. Would also encourage looking for a more fitting picture for profile. Generative AI profile pictures are notorious messy, hard to read and far from being accepted by people within the maker space.

At the risk of this becoming a case of "arguing with strangers on the internet"... I made this channel because it's something fun for me. 3D printing is my hobby, not my kids' hobby. Many of these prints are just things I find cool. I'm a geek (software engineer by trade) and like tinkering. I also happen to find these time lapse videos mesmerizing and figured I'd share what I'm doing -- again, for my own enjoyment. The card shuffler really is something I made for my kids, but even if it weren't, I still find it cool and fun to build and play with. It's an interesting challenge, I'm learning by doing it, and I have fun talking through the mechanics involved with my 6 year old. Earlier in the year, I combined 3d printing, home automation, programming, and some infrared wands from a game to build some fun experiences with him around the house -- maybe I'll share those at some point too. You don't have to like it, you don't have to "accept me into the maker space" -- I'm not asking for any of that, just sharing something that I enjoy. I hope you enjoy my videos too, and if not, I hope you find some that you do enjoy.

@@Foxhood Why are we gatekeeping the makerspace? I mean, I started printing over a decade ago _because_ my dad printed a bunch of stuff for me. It's someone who made a cool thing, and enjoyed it enough to share it with us. I'd welcome 10,000 more videos like this.
