GIS Apps - Lab 3 - Isarithmic Maps of Paleoclimate Data - ArcGIS Pro
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.3 года назад
In this lab, we import a dataset of paleoclimate temperatures during the spring and summer months in Europe. The data spans 1400 years and is constructed from various proxies like tree rings, ice cores, and harvest dates. It represents anomalies above and below the 1961 -1990 temperature average. To test the accuracy of this temperature re-creation, we will map historical periods and see if the...

For this lab, we will delve into competing theories of development aid. Some organizations claim aid to developing countries has been largely successful, decreasing child mortality and increasing life expectancy. Other economists point out low GDP growth and fear aid dependencies are slowing economic progress. We will compare these claims in a series of multivariate maps that show graduated sym...

For this lab, we will explore the relationship of education and income in the US. One school of thought claims that the percentage of educated people drives the average income of counties. Other economists say it’s the density of college graduates that matters. We will test their theories using Geographically Weighted Regression, and display the results in a series of choropleth maps. In part o...

UPDATE: In the video I failed to delete column “JN9E019” (total females). It says to delete in the instructions, and is important that you do. The column represents all ladies with any schooling and will skew your Total_EDU calculation. Look at the numbers for Autauga County, Alabama that are shown in the Excel image in the instructions. If the Total_EDU in your data matches the 7369 shown in t...

Advanced Cartographic Design - Lab 4, Part 2 - Denali National Park Photoshop Relief In part two of Lab 4, we export each raster layer from ArcMap as a 300 dpi tiff with no transparency, making sure that the colors and styles are appropriate for a PS blend. Then, all the layers are loaded into a stack in Photoshop, and ordered with the hillshades on the bottom, the tinted DEM above that, and th...
Advanced Cartographic Design - Lab 4, Part 1 - Denali National Park Swiss Hillshade
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.4 года назад
For this first part of Lab 4, I will cover setting up the project, and then using the Swiss Hillshade model in Model Builder to generate our base relief. We then look at making custom color ramps, and importing pre-made ramps using the Style Manager. After draping the original DEM of the hillshades, I go over building up layers to break the hypsometric tint and give the relief texture. Finally,...
Introduction to GIS - Lab 6 - GPS Data Collection in the Field: Mapping Campus Trees
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.4 года назад
This week, we will use Garmin GPS units to navigate to four trees from the UM Arboretum Layer. You may notice that you never quite reach the tree you are heading for. This due to all the GPS errors we discussed in Lecture. Once close, stop navigating, go up to the tree, and take a new GPS point. Guess at the tree species and write it down. Once you take all four points, you will need to transpo...

I really want to do this practical unfortunately the data is not accessible, can you help guide me to where I can download it?
I learned a lot. You clearly have the knowledge and your voice is clear, without ums and ahs. But the visuals lack resolution, so it's hard to see the menus and labels. Still, I can follow your explanations more easily than on other Illustrator tutorial videos. Thanks for posting it.
Great!
can't find data or instruction show invalid page
Hi!! I wonder if would it be possible to have that hillshade toolbox as the link is not working anymore. Best regards!!
Please the data and lab manual are not accessible for me to download and replicate what you did
I tried to use the graticules from Natural Earth, but after reprojecting the layer I am getting these lines that cut across the projection. How do I hide the lines from the graticule layers that should not be part of the projection?
Thanks for your helpful video. I am attempting supervised and object-based image classification using Arch Pro (V.3.2). Here are the steps I have followed: I acquired Sentinel-2 imagery and combined bands 2, 3, 4, and 8 (10m resolution). I performed image segmentation. I created a classification schema. I generated training samples. However, when I attempt to classify using a support vector machine classifier, I encounter the following error: ERROR 003436: No training samples found for these classes: Soil, Water, Impervious, Grass, Tress. The table was not found. [VAT_Segmented_202407110934456475089_interIndex] The table was not found. Thank you, very helpful. Have you found a way to do this programmatically with an Action?
Clutch Brother!
great!
Coming back again years later to do some shaded relief - thankfully this is still here! and thank god I saved my old class files with Hillside Tools.
That is a great video. Thank you. Narration is simplified and clear.
I keep getting a blank view on my map when I run the flow accumulation spatial analyst tool. Everything looks good until I run that tool.. I don’t get to see the water courses even when I zoom in. Help
Thank you! so informative and execellent walk-through. leaned a lot!
Awesome tutorial! I was struggling with attempting to do this on my own for so long. Done in 20 minutes....
Unbelievable.. awesome..great..
You're making me look like a rockstar at my job! Fantastic video and pace. I look forward to watching and learning more!
Glad to hear it!
Since the clipped DEM does not include all the area for both watersheds, will the areas calculated be inaccurate?
Yes, the tools will only calculate watersheds within the extent of the DEM.
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for posting this lecture series. I'm about to start a Geography master's and it's getting me excited to work towards being a cartographer.
Best of luck!
Sir, you did a great job , this video data is missing another video lecture data is uploaded
It's fixed now. Thanks
Great video, thanks!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Could you share again the data for this tutorial? I couldn't open the sources🙄
Very nice explanation! Good work.
First off, thank you for the very helpful video. When going through these steps with my DEM, my final stream network results in a lot of straight lines that do not follow the topography of the land. Could this be a result of the coarseness of my DEM, which I believe is at a 15m interval contour? Or should I experiment with some of the parameters in the GeoProcessing tools?
The data link is below the description. It's a zipped gdb with one DEM in it. Cheers
Can u please send your email I need to discuss about image classification
Thanx!!!
It’s nice to see that the atlas has continued!
Great class! Thanks!
coolest water slide ever
Laughing out loud picking on whose gravestone I'm going to push for comic sans. Thank you for the video. I'm excited to watch more.
Great. thank you so much.
Great video, Thank you.
Thanks a lot! This was very helpful in understanding the entire hydrology workflow in ArcGIS Pro. Being not from hydrology background, what does the watershed polygons (or areas delineated as watershed) represent? What information does it convey?
It represents where the rain water would flow over a given landscape. Cheers
hi sir, I want to have a significant map along with an estimated map in GWR. how i access it
unlike other typography videos, this one is in the context of maps. good points made. well presented. thank you
Thanks
Hello. Where can we download the map you used?
It's in the video description. Cheers
@@MapPractical Please I can't download the dataset you used. It says "404. That’s an error. The requested URL was not found on this server. That’s all we know." Can you please help me, I want to try and replicate what you did.

You are amazing.! Thanks for making these videos
awesome.
How to plot density map in square km? I have the shapefile (shp) of the map and I have the lightning flash data with location (longitude, latitude). I used density point function in the ArcGIS and I don't know how to convert the density to per square km. I changed the unit of my map from Decimal Degree to kilometers. I wanted to change the Area Unit in the Dot Density to square km but it is not possible. Kindly help.
How do you know what the field names stand for? For example 'Countries_T', how do you know that this name stands for the total population?
Metadata. Sometimes you have to dig deep on the site the data came from. Sometimes it's not posted, but Google can help!
This was a great instructional video - thank you!
