2009 Jeep Wrangler won't shift!
Просмотров 9 тыс.Год назад
My 2009 Jeep Wrangler X wouldn't go into PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, or any other gear. Turns out it was the gear shift lever cable bushing located inside the console area. Let me show you that you don't need to remove the whole console to get this fixed. You can do it with some simple tools, and a $20 replacement part. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤ thank you for video , you made it easy.
I'm glad to have helped you out. Us Wrangler owners have to watch out and take care of each other!!
Jeep said that I needed to replace the transfer cable that cost over 300 dollars and that’s not including labor so I ended up on RUclips and fixed it for 15 dollars lol and jeep said it couldn’t be fixed yea right
The stories I could tell. Jeep "stealership" repair shop tried to sell me transmission cooling lines for $150 each. I told them they were sold in a set for about that price. Shop labor brought the price to around $450 all said and done. Bought them online and did the job myself. Only additional tool I had to buy was the key to remove the lines, cost about $15.
Is that a low profile 1/4 rachet? Amazon has the older and newer model. $20 That's such an amazing deal!
It is. It's a nice kit to keep around the garage, home or office. I use my SAE and Metric sets all the dang time! Thanks for watching and for the comment.
Will that same bushing work if its the one on the transmission ?
The Dorman package was labeled that it was for the transfer case. However, For that link I actually used a Dorman 14055.
Thank you for the video. This was exactly what I was looking for. Saved me time and money
@@etaup02 I’m really glad to hear that
@@hillcountrylivin I have one question for you. My gear shift selector wont move at all when i push the side button on the gear shift selector. I was able to more the console following your instruction. The cable and bushing is connected to the spindle. Do you know what could cause the gear shift selector not to move?
@@etaup02 Man, that's tough. I assume the spring mechanism on the button is working. If so, it could be related to an electrical issue. Maybe the brake light switch. Check that your brake lights come on. Or it could be the shifter interlock solenoid. The brake light switch should be located somewhere above the brake pedal, and the interlock solenoid will be inside the console on the side of the shifter. I wish I could be there with you to track this one down.
One more thing I forgot to mention, there should be an over-ride switch that you could access without taking out the console. Check your owners manual, since I'm not sure of the year Jeep your working with.
You’re a lifesaver dude! Liked 👍
I'm glad it worked out for you!!
Fantastic video on how you don't have to remove the entire console in order to replace the bushing. Saved me a lot of time and effort. Thanks!
I'm really glad it was able to help you. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
My truck is 2017 dodge 1500
How can I cut crown moulding and base board with this saw.
I would think very easily. Just know what your cut angles are and measure the length very carefully.
So luckily mine was still intact under the console. It turned out to be the one under the car which had slipped off the spindle. So it was a much easier fix😊 but thanks for sharing, this is new knowledge definitely going to be put to use! Blessings friend 🧡
That's awesome. I've actually had to do both. I guess it depends on if you like crawling under the Jeep, or tearing apart the console, huh? Glad you got it handled and didn't have to go to the "stealership".
Your a life saver friend
I'm really glad to hear that this helped!! Thanks so much for watching and for leaving me this great compliment.
Awesome!!! I watched a bunch of idiots videos showing how to do this including one that had you take the front tire off! This became a 5 minute fix after watching your video. THANKS!!
I know, right? Why make it harder than it has to be. I went that route myself, until I finally realized what was broken. I'm glad it was helpful and worked to get you back "in gear". LOL! Thanks for watching and for leaving me this great comment.
Thanks a bunch! I'll try this once I get the part😊
@@deborahmarie6827 It can be a bit "tricky" getting the bushing on the spindle. Be careful not to let it drop down into the console. Please let me know how it works out.
Great review and instructional! Got one arriving today from Home Depot. On sale at $249 now, so I had to snap one up.
Thank for watching and I'm super excited to hear that you got a bargain too!!
How many miles did you have before you needed to replace them?
Roughly 96,000
Mine needed replacement at 21,000 miles. A/C condenser needed replacement at 23,000 miles.
@@norman7179 Holy Cow! I didn't start replacing parts on my 2015 until at least 50k. Weird, huh?
@@hillcountrylivin The truck has never been abused. Over ten years old and a bit less than 24,000 miles. All maintenance is up to date.
@@norman7179 I don't know what the percentage would be, but I do believe that every once in a while a defective product rolls off the line. Sometime the problems can be corrected, and other times it's just a continual source of problems. I hope that's not your case. I suppose you just have to decide how much investment you're willing to put into it. I think everyone has been in that situation from time to time.
Cool way to keep them all together
Yes, it is. Keeps them all together and from rambling all over the place. Thanks for watching and for leaving me a comment.
@@hillcountrylivin and what of this case is cheaper?
can you install laser guide on this unit? thank you sir!
That's a good question, unfortunately I'm sure if you could or not. Not sure how accurate it would be. But, I appreciate you watching and for leaving me a comment.
How the hell did you push that back on there? I got the bushing on but can't get that black cable connector over it
If the cable won't slide over the bushing on the spindle, take the bushing off of the spindle and insert it into the cable, then slide the whole works over the spindle.
@@hillcountrylivinit took a few tries but I got it on. Thanks for the helpful video
I'm really glad it was helpful. We Jeep owners need all the dang help we can get!!@@62169michael
Just pulled this section apart and my original spindle is still connected and the bushing is in place….now what?
It could be the bushing on the side of the transmission case. We've had to change out both. You'll have to get under the Jeep and reach up on the side of the case on the drivers side. You'll see the linkage where it connects.
Nice solution. May I know your vice size? I’m looking for a vice good for 2x4 lumber.
It's just a small table mount workshop vice. If I were you, I'd go to the hardware store near you and check out the sizes that they have available. Thanks for watching and for your question.
Excuse me, were you happy with how it handled? If so, I might want to do the same.
Yes, for the way I have it set up and for what I use it for, yeah, I'm happy with it. I really like the Pegasus benches. The clamps are crap, but the workbenches are solid as can be.
@@hillcountrylivin I appreciate it, thank you very much!
I think I have this problem got many codes with two different Purge valves. One day po440 and the other say po456
What's the name of the part
That can be frustrating. You can pick up an inexpensive code reader on Amazon for around $40 that could give you more information.
@@michaeljackson2106 In my case, it was the integrity module, but it depends on the vehicle and what part has failed. It could be a simple as the gas cap. Or it could be as severe as a cracked fuel tank fitting. I've been down both roads myself.
thanks!
The biggest problem I have with this saw is the blade changing! What a pain! Just trying to get access to the bold that holds the blade in. I'm still fighting it! I have loosened the bolt you talk about at 7:32 and it still won't lift up to give me access! aaargh!
Awesome tip! Had exactly the same issue on my jeep. A million thanks to you! 🙌
I'm glad it was able to help you out of a jam!
Excellent, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Got the same code for my 2009 Jeep Liberty. In my case all that was needed was a thorough cleaning of the gas cap/gasket and the area on the filler spout the gas cap screws into and fortunately, that was all that was required to fix the problem. Check engine light is off, Liberty passed the emission test last week. Best advice I received about my Liberty was to thoroughly clean those two areas.
I've experienced that as well. I fact it's the first thing to check before anything else. Most common point of failure on most vehicles and the least expensive to repair. When it's not the fuel cap, that is when the adventure begins! Thanks so much for watching and for leaving me a comment. I really appreciate it.
Some people are natural teachers. Your instructions were very clear and detailed, thank you so much.
Thank you so much!!
Good video and thank you for sharing.
Thank you
I was about to tow it thinking its a transmission problem
That crossed my mind as well, until I dug into it. I'm really glad this helped you.
Love ya bro thanks
someone lost this yesterday at a pawn shop. They had to sell it.. so I picked it up for $200! great review!! BRAND NEW!!!
That is AWESOME!
Brand new tool for this girl, everything that I needed to know I found on your video thank you.
Wow! I'm so glad it was able to help you out Perla! And thanks for the awesome comment too.
Cost
At the time I purchased this it was $139 and came with the work stand as well.
Thanks for the review, just purchased one and sure was helpful.
I'm glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching and for leaving me a comment.
Does it cut a 4x4 easily?
Yes, it does. I've not had any issues at all. Thanks for watching.
Did you seriously just do a review and not use it!? 🤦♂️
Honestly, what would him cutting a piece of wood show you? The blade spins, you bring it down, it cuts through. That’s what all miter saws do.
This was the best explanation of a tool I have seen in a long time. It was very clear, concise and his talking speed was perfect and easy to follow. Thank you.
Thanks, I appreciate the awesome feedback!
Good review. But you must have a different model than mine. Mine weights 30 pounds not 25 pounds and mine is 25" x 31" not 27" x 37". Are you sure there's only coffee in that cup you're holding? ;-)
Haha! I'll have to check on that coffee!! Thanks for the comment and for watching.
I have an older 715 and the angles between stops has a cam lock to hood in place. This one looks like the knob screws down to snug it up instead of the push down ?
Yes, you are correct. Having a cam to lock down would be better, in my opinion
Good idea with the vice mount. Thanks for the review.
I'm glad you found it helpful. I'm working on mounting a bench grinder to it. It's a bit complicated but keep an eye out for that one. Thanks again.
Yeah, I keep pondering do I really need a Miter Saw. I plan to make some furniture. I looked at the sliding variants but the main thing I want to cut is thin pieces to length possibly longer pieces, for which you would need a sled to cut on a table saw and then if the piece is a little longer even the sled might not be good enough. I decided against a sliding miter saw early on, the reason I don't want a sliding variant is that if a piece is wide enough I can run it over the table saw or use a track saw, plus the added depth you would need. I plan on making a dedicated table at a wall so I not want a more compact saw. Home Depot has this saw for 199 right now, and I know Lowes had a deal with the Stand, but not anymore.
I know the different jobs have different needs, that's for sure. I appreciate the comment. Let me know what you end up doing.
thanks!
Thank you!!
Not much of a review when you don't use the product on camera.
I’m sorry you’re disappointed
DWS 715 is a really good saw, I had run thousands of miles of trim though it but there’s nothing like the DWS716 a proven work horse.
