TV and Surround Sound Installation
This installation included a new TV installed on a new articulating wall mount into an existing cabinet opening. The components were updated and installed into a new equipment rack to ensure simple and easy service and updates to the system.
The living room this equipment is installed into is equipped with a 5.1 surround sound system and the surround sound receiver that was selected also operates speakers on the lake side patio and driveway side entry.
To ensure smooth and simple operation of all areas of the system, we installed and programmed an RTI smart remote that operates wirelessly from anywhere there are system components. Simple one-touch operation ensures the system is fun and e...

For this Sony TV and Sonos Arc soundbar installation we used a motion mount to keep the TV at a lower enough viewing height, as mounting it to the wall below the ledge would have put it too low. Pretty sure it's against code to remove a stud. Not sure why you just didn't move the box over to accommodate the media box without cutting any studs out

      Appreciate the comment! Nothing removed was load bearing, but it's a good thing to be mindful of! And unfortunately due to where we want the TV placed (centered, as indicated by the tape), it wasn't possible to *not* remove the stud to install the in-wall enclosure for the One Connect box. Good thoughts and thanks for the comment!

    We had an issue once at the Staples Assembly of God church that I volunteer as the AV tech for, (I believe Scott does most of not all our upgrade work) where the internet wasn't working, so being the diligent man I strive to be, in my position, I power cycled everything I could think of... Then found out after a half hour of checking, that our utility closet had a bunch of empty cardboard boxes for our speed the light garage sale, sitting right in front of the battery backup on the floor, powering the essential utility closet items, and although I'm still not sure what happened my somewhat educated guess is that one of the boxes somehow hit the power button on the battery backup which turned everything off...😂😂😂 It took 10 or 15 minutes for it to become fully functional and able to access the internet, but once it did, everything was fine after that, but all that said, even though I can laugh about it now, at the time it was very stressful because it was something that I did not expect yet at the same time it was something that was really easy to fix had I known to look there first. I must say, our AV system and infrastructure wiring improvements are still working great, and from what I know about Scott always being called if we have issues he might have the answers to on planning and implementation of things, even before starting digital horizons, I must say that I believe it'll still be working great whenever the church ever decides to do it's next "upgrade". I thank you guys for your excellent service over the years, at least as far as the finished product I work with, anyway, and am grateful that with our sound board we have now, and the wiring upgrade, has gotten whatever gremlins we had in our system to disappear (mostly it was replacing the board that had the most noticable impact I'm almost 100% sure) that's been what, sometime in 2020 our pastor finally had the work done, and the time and effort Scott puts in, whenever needed, is definitely appreciated by me every time I have a trouble free service or sonlight session

      Hey Jennifer! When this home was under construction we installed a ~1.5" conduit in the wall that exits to the right of the firpelace. The conduit, and its size, allows for the One Connect cable to be routed out of sight up to the TV. Conversely, certain stone sizes/shapes allow for the cable to be routed along the face of it, down to where you might have your equipment located - we've done this on a number of installations where a conduit wasn't available and the home owner understood the cable may be visible.

    Correct me if I am wrong, but if the connect box is in a hidden cavity behind the TV and boxed in the wall behind the TV which is now hanging and fixed to the wall bracket on the wall. How would I be expected to get instant access to the USB ports or any other port for that matter. The reason I ask is due to the fact I am probably going to buy a Samsung TV soon and was looking at putting a floating shelf below the TV and tracing it through the walls. However, I do not have much space to play with. So, my question remains, would all ports be blocked off until TV was moved out of the way for access? TIA for your reply.

    • @markbloomer9273
      @markbloomer9273 Год назад

      I'm in residential construction and virtually every TV we install is this one. In some cases, retro-fitting this TV into an existing home can be a little difficult. The TV just hangs on the one long bracket and lifts of like a wall mounted mirror or picture. You only have to disconnect the one wire from the TV to completely remove it and access the One Connect box. This actually makes adding/removing other devices easier. The key is routing all of your necessary wires and power to the back box. This TV is all about aesthetics. I have the thinnest mount on my 55" LED TV and can still see the HDMI cables when from the side when it's pushed all the way back, which is kinda tacky. You may sacrifice a little picture quality, but the cleaner look is worth it I believe.

    • @DigitalHorizonsMinnesota
      @DigitalHorizonsMinnesota Год назад

      Hey James! Mark nailed it. This is about aesthetics and it's really the only way to go about doing it, unless you have a piece of furniture below that you can 'hide' the 'One Connect' box into or you have a conduit (>1.5") that allows you to place the One Connect box in a more serviceable location. It would be possible to connect USB extension cables and make them available via keystones in wall plates below the TV or in adjacent areas, it would just take a bit of planning to do so. Hope this helps!

    • @DigitalHorizonsMinnesota
      @DigitalHorizonsMinnesota Год назад

    Hi- great work on this project. I was told by a salesman that the more recent Frame TVs cannot be installed on a brick fireplace, as the depth variations on the brick don't allow the TV to be hung properly. Did you have to use a special mount/system to hand the Frame on a non-uniform surface like the stone in the video? Thanks for any input.

    • @DigitalHorizonsMinnesota
      @DigitalHorizonsMinnesota 2 года назад

      As they say - where there's a will there's a way. This video showcases probably the worst case scenario - stone fireplace plus this generation of Frame TV uses two separate mount pieces (not one whole bracket), and it was very doable. You can use spacers and other methods to 'even' out the mout before you attach the TV. Just takes some effort and knowledge. Good luck!

    I love how ALL these type install videos are shown using SIMPLE unfinished areas. Try showing the average Joe what it really takes to do this kind of project in a 2-1/2 story FULLY finished home. It's NOT that simple and does require an array of specialty tools that most homeowners do not have.

    • @DigitalHorizonsMinnesota

      It's definitely more difficult in a finished home! Keep in mind this is in fact a finished office space (our own office) and was done several years after we moved in. What we did here is actually very typical for an existing home and was made possible by the use of the in-wall enclosure that we highlighted in the video. Sometimes you just need to get creative!

      If someone desired an auxilary connection it would be simple to add that in the wall below the TV during the install. This TV is connected to what's called a 'video distribution system', which allows the source components - in this case that's an AppleTV, cable box, and Blu-ray player - to be located elsewhere (and subsequently shared with other TV's at the same time). As for the power, the outlet being installed into the recessed box is no different than being installed in the wall behind a more traditional TV installation - nothing to be concerned about what so ever. Thank you for the comment!
