Starting my New Year strong and sharing some of my thoughts.
Just thought to share a quick video of my morning reflection today. I definitely needed to do this check in. Definitely wanting to bless, not impress so hopefully, this one encourages someone else today.

Anna's 10 Commandments for New (and not so new) Teachers
Просмотров 1513 года назад
This video is part of my end of year Digital Reflection assignment for my induction program to clear my teaching credential. The assignment asked us to provide advice for new teachers. These 10 commandments are in no particular order, they are all important, all doable, and I obey them to maintain my sanity in a challenging (but wonderful) profession.

Curious George Gets a medal - Read Aloud with Mrs. O

Curious George gets a medal for being brave and traveling in a rocket ship! Reading and being read aloud to has an impact that extends beyond just hearing stories. I'm sharing stories with my students who are distance learning due to Covid-19. These are some of my favorite stories I would read with my son, George, when he was young.

A story about a mischievous little penguin and his walk on the wild side. ;) Children in low-income families lack essential one-on-one reading time, whereas on average, children who grow up middle-class families have been exposed to 1,000 to 1,700 hours of one-on-one picture book reading. The average child growing up in a low-income family, in contrast, has only been exposed to 25 hours of one-...

How to change a toilet paper roll? Toilet Paper Holder DIY video for husbands, teens, and children.

Who knew it was this easy? Anyone can do it really!
When our mother died, my siblings and I loved going through the whole house, three stories, the books ,the paintings, the cabinets with beautiful tea sets. We grew closer together talking about our memories and sharing who would want what amongst us and the grandchildren. We never thought of it as a burden. What was left went to the estate sale and those people that came really loved buying what was left.
Love this ! Thx
That is very well said! The hardest thing for me to clean after both my mom and my mom-in-law passed away was: to decide what is essential for me (what to keep as a memento) and what to part with. In the end, I got rid of 80% and kept the things that brought the most memories, and even after that I've donated most of what I have kept initially...
Great video....thanks so much!!! :)
You're holding up the card, A place for everything and everything in it's place. My mom would always say that. I miss her so much. She would always love a clean house 🙁 thank you for sharing
When she was 60, my aunt downsized from a very large house to a comfortable, two-bedroom condo. She made an album of only the photos she wanted to keep. She placed the ones she no longer wanted in a couple of small boxes and told her four grown-up kids to go through them. Whatever they didn’t want, she threw out. She did the same with her furniture, decorations, clothes, plates and silverware. She just turned 98, and has been living in the spare bedroom of one of her daughters for a few years. When she goes, there won’t be a mess to sort through or give away. No burden like that for her children. Only good memories.
Very helpful tips! Thank you!
My husband and I have been dealing with health issues over the past year and I've been on a massive purge in order to make life easier and safer for both of us. We all have so much stuff!!! I have sort of been doing the Marie Kondo method, as well as a "use the good china" attitude.
Thank you, Anna, for sharing your thoughts about the method. Your video was pleasant, very helpful, and to the point.
"Before you pass." That's such a pathetic *euphemism* for dying. We are talking about death cleaning here, so, why not call it as it is? Death cleaning is *preparing for death.* It's clearing away your detritus before you *die!* Not before you "pass." Pass what? Pass the butter, please? Pass the final milestone in your earthly life? That's when you die.🤪🤪

Very helpful! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this great video. I think I need to get this book.
Mis en place
Definitely ought to be taught in all schools! 😀
Th you so much for this resumé. I'm taking #7 to heart!
Seems like the best option would be don't buy the stuff in the first place. Stop overconsumption.
Yep and call Goodwill ,they will pick it all up that you set outside the door, when someone passes. No one want's it !
Beautiful Anna!! Thanks for sharing ☺
thank you
I have donated my body, told my family to close the bank account, open the door, and my apartment will be cleaned out in minutes FREE. I have packed up what I do not use at the moment. Index cards iists the Rubber Maid number, Location and contents. I have generously giving away plenty to non beggars. I do not care what people want to read, for I am DEAD. After bank account shut down, open the door, and give the stuff away. It has to be grab and leave, so they do not leave a mess. Donate your body! Write your own obituary and death certificate. The living will put the death date. Judge Judy, Biden, etc. were born in 1942, which was my birth year also. We are our only hope. Please stop killing each other. Solution: Send all rapists, murderers, and traitors to the wilderness of Alaska and Siberia. Harvest the organs as the method of instant executions. Work online from home. $2,000 per month since January 2020 for every American. Americans first, or we are DOOMED! Death can come at all ages, especially when disasters strike. Death takes from the unborn on up.
Thank you💫😽🐾
This was a great recap! I love the 10 points!
"Cuz you know, I'm not a crap collector." 😅 I love that.
A place for everything And nothing in it's place. Never put off till tomorrow What you can put off till the day after. My beautiful Pop told me these quotes back in the 60s.
This made me smile! Sounds like my Papa!! 😊
Priceless! I've not heard those before but they ring true. I might have to stick those on my fridge.
While we slept, we were visited by the yard sale fairy.
GREEDY. EVIL.and HEARTLESS Demons! Rent on an old 880 sq.ft apartment. $1080; Water $53; Sewer $12.00; Trash $8'00; Pest control $5.00 Service Fee $5.00., and the extra services go up every month. GREED!!! I pay almost $300 per month to heat electrically in the winter, and I do try to cover up the drafty doors and windows. I refuse to use A/C. I have lived here almost 24 years with 4 different leasing companies, and they get worst with every change. The homeless shelter will be my next move, because I do not beg, and will work in the shelter., even at 79. Acapulco has extra cleaning, laundry, host fees, taxes etc. also. GREED EVERYWHERE! The 1% are taking out the 99%. God will send all of you to hell in gasoline drawers! Please notify renters, if landlords are signing us up for rent payments, when we are paying our rent, and they are getting two payments per month. The SCAMS are off the hook. The Stimulus is being stolen by prices going up on everything! RENT! UTILITIES! GAS! FOOD: Internet. phone, insurance. Greed. Going to rent me a studio apartment in Acapulco, for as a retired person USA is too expensive! Prices are just going up on everything, to steal the pathetic stimulus. I will have to move to a cheaper state or Acapulco, or just work online to satisfy my greedy landlord and utilities. I am on a retirement income and in my 79th year. FYI: Over 200 people murdered this year in Chicago. All lives matter. The autopsy will tell the true story. I feel if you rape, murder, or are a traitor, your organs should be harvested! Singaporean laws please. Over 60 years of GENOCIDE in CHICAGO! God will end these murders etc. Thank you. The Greed on everything is off the hook, including scams, death jabs, and murders. Please be ready folks and stay ALERT 24/7 no matter, where you are located. .The evil demons are everywhere., and even in your family and so call friends etc. STAY ALERT PLEASE. MOVE!
I don't know why, but you sound like you're about to cry in this video . The first I had heard of Death Cleaning was in another random clip I clicked on before this by the lady from "Do It On a Dime " on RUclips which I watched today . However, she didn't really give much insight into what to do, she just said it helped her . That's why I'm here . Anyway, thanks for explaining it better .
I think she has a cold.
You are fantastic!
From the time I met her, my mother-in-law was constantly cleaning out her closet and maintaining her clothes. There was never anything out of place in her apartment. She said to me once, 'I'd hate anyone to have to deal with my stuff after I die'. So people have been doing this for many years.
No need to wait for death or any other things.......By the way, Death is very soothing, pain relief experience !!! No need to be fearful......... sometimes Life is more hazardous, if overloaded.....
Great video!! I’m under 65 but I’m glad that you mentioned that you can do it through life ☺️
HaHaHa:)
Excellent Review! You got right to it! Very considerate to your audience!
I love this summary. I want to refer to it again. Anna you are so short sweet and to the point! Thank you. Time stamps: 1:20 make it a way of life. Do a little every day. 2:00 your stuff reflects your history. Joy, memories decisions. 3:00 hunting for misplaced items is never a good use of your time. Have a place for everything and everything in it’s place 3:42 mess is an unnecessary irritation. 4:07 keep things that make your life lovely. Don’t keep bad memories. 4:37 living smaller is a relief 4:59 don’t repeatedly have the same problem. Fix it. 5:25 A place for everything and everything in it’s place. Repeating a key concept that the author repeats for emphasis. 5:36 with death cleaning size matters. Get rid of the easy stuff first like excess furniture. Work up to tough stuff like photos. 6:27 make it easier for loved ones. Make the decisions now so they don’t have to.
greets from poland
Thanks for sharing the points of the book for us. I am in the process of decluttering. I also just made a decision to not buy any new books. I have way too many.
Good luck in your process of decluttering! I've done some decluttering during this covid-19 stay at home time. The trouble is I have all the donations in the back of my car but none of the thrift stores are open so now my car feels cluttered!
The public library is a great free source for books that you have to return so that eliminates buying books.
Excellent review. Appreciated this so much. Few yrs ago we decluttered/downsized our basement getting rid of most and had it finished. Where there were once piles of boxes/storage is now a large guest bedroom, full bathroom, large open weight room, and small separate storage room. Taking large items away 1st made space to work & sort and gave immediate feeling of lightness. I twirled around in the empty space when auction truck drove away with 10 carefully chosen large pieces of furniture to sell. We had new motivation & have appreciated the benefits!🌷
It sounds like you made a wonderful space! Good job! Thank you for your kind remarks. Anna
You did a good job on this video. Thank you.
She says first thing that the book takes TWO HOURS TO READ? 100 pages does NOT take 2 hours to read. Done.
It all depends on how quickly you read. She also described that she takes notes while she’s reading, so that takes additional time. Don’t be so critical of the small details. Done.
You never know when death will take you. Your stuff will be gone in minutes, so just have family and friends to open the door. No burden, if you give the stuff away. I comment in my books , so while alive, I do not want my comments sent out to the world. Keep what you want. graphics.suntimes.com/homicides/ ruclips.net/video/u3hZiod172o/видео.html I have donated my body. Tyler Perry can have all my journals and stuff now. I admire and trust him, and do not want a dime from him. When you leave your home or in your home, death can come in an instant.
Thanks for the helpful summary!
Thank you for summarising it, have started to do this for the reasons in that book, and as I spent so much time looking for something and so much time trying to remember what I was looking for! I've already found more pens than a stationary shop and hope to find where all the odd socks have been hiding soon! Could you make more videos please, your last DIY video was so useful, you really are so talented to make it look so easy that I'm going to try it 👍
That is so clever, you make it look so easy 👍
Anna Thanks for doing this video. This has been my "PHILOSOPHY" Since I was in My late 20's. I am "Big Personality"... Whom Strives to LIVE a Simple Life . I "Was" a YUPPIE... And now at 60... I'm Burnt "OUT" ! Thx Again. (I subscribed 🙂)
I use tiolet paper after I wee to get the last few drops
this is helpful thank you
Love the term "crap collector" 😜 I will use that.....
I really like your video. It was helpful. I like to get the book on Swedish Death Cleaning. I like to start cleaning my appartment. Thank you so much, I like to see this video again and again. I like that you have cards. Kelly Jo Hebert
I scanned and uploaded all of my photos and documents to Amazon. They are also backed up in the Apple cloud and on my iPad. It took months but was totally worth the trouble. I used the tiny scanner app and Amazon photos to do it. It was fun and a total relief!
Smart!
Wow Maureen you've done an incredible job. I so need to backup things online - digital photos of my little boy on my phone and we have boxes of family photos as kids. They take up so much space. It would be such a relief. Wish I could find somewhere that would help do it
@@tarat26 I gave all my actual photos to one of my daughters to do with what she likes. No worries. I still have some photps on my phone, but I don't really care about them that much, so if I lose them it won't bother me. I just remind myself that there was a time before photography 😄 People didn't stress about having a visual record of their lives back then. Why is it suddenly so important?
What you offer here is awesome.. an added thought from me, is..... what you see is what you get. Nothing hiding away in a cubby in the basement... I have so much to deal with.. it can and will work.
