Windy Fishing
Австралия
Добавлен 17 ноя 2019
Finding quality fish can be a frustrating and often discouraging art. For more than three decades I have fished various locations in Australia mainly in the SE of NSW and the Sydney area and what I have learnt over that time is here for others to use.
The main targets of my obsession are estuary species with a primary focus on Flathead, Whiting, Bream and Luderick. Although most of what I do is based around tossing lures, the art of bait fishing is not forgotten.
There is always something new to learn and maybe something I do will assist someone out there in having a successful session on the water!

The Shoalhaven 100 Beach Challenge EP4 - Failure on Culburra
I wasn't seriously expecting to succeed at every beach first time around and with very poor conditions with no swell and a low tide delivered exactly that, my first failure in the challenge! Culburra did provide some beach worming practice and I did bend a rod with some small Rays. Will have to return!

The Shoalhaven 100 Beach Challenge EP3 - Cudmirrah
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.21 день назад
Cudmirrah Beach at Sussex Inlet slotted in as the next beach on my rather ambitious task of fishing all of the so called 100 beaches in the Shoalhaven. This average sized yet picturesque beach is not one that I had visited in any capacity previously and I was looking forward to finding out how it fished. Nick Reay from Nick Reay's Outdoor Chronicles joined me today with both of curious to see h...
The Shoalhaven 100 Beach Challenge EP2 - Five Mile
Просмотров 711Месяц назад
Continuing my quest to fish all of the beaches listed in the Shoalhaven 100 Beach Challenge I selected Five Mile (Bherwerre) Beach as the next target. Scott once again joined me, targeting Salmon and Tailor and with any luck, a Jewfish after dark.
Simple Drummer Fishing at Gerringong

In between my 100 Beach Challenge quest I find some time to chase a feed of delicious Black Drummer from the stones. Using prawn pieces on a very simple rig I get a variety of fish on a beautiful south coast day.
The Shoalhaven 100 Beach Challenge - 2 Days on Seven Mile
Просмотров 9922 месяца назад
Recently I have moved to the Shoalhaven region opening up a myriad of new fishing adventures. The district has a challenge, to visit every one of the 100 beaches in the area. I decided to use this challenge as a means to explore and lock in the best beaches. To kick this off, I spent a couple of days on Seven Mile Beach.

Nice one matty, they go good on the chew if bled…. Well I like them anyway.
They go OK, especially the smaller ones. Released this guy though as I was after Flatties.
Takes skill to catch a mullet in the ass..anyone can catch them in the mouth
100%, took a lot of skill on my part ;-)
Nice one Matt, as you said the conditions don't always translate into good fishing, good vid' tho mate and love the beach worming at the beginning!
Thanks Joe, I am so out of practice with the beach worming! The first 40 mins of footage was me cursing out at how crap I was.
I found culburra way too hard to fish always way too windy. Head over to Callaha beach near the rocks you will do better
Next on the list with any luck. There was some good holes and gutters, just need some better conditions!
The northern end of the beach you mean? (Callala local)
You need to embrace brown things
I don't quite have your uncanny ability to catch them in any conditions ;-)
Tough conditions for a productive session that day mate. Only the vacuum species are willing to play in those conditions.
Yep, next time we will pick some better conditions!
There are far worse ways to spend an afternoon mate 🤙😎🇦🇺
Too true mate!
@@windyfishing9563 Fishing closer to the rocks near river mouth would of possibly got you stud bream
Little soapies can croak it from just looking at them. Handle with care.
He swam off strongly, only out of the water for a little bit longer than the short vid.
It’s a joooo
Camera 🫣
Cut the big sinker down to a number 3 ball sinker a Jew will just drop that sinker when they feel the weight. If I have to fish a spot for Jew that requires a bit of weight I make my own sinners and use 3 mil tig filler rods to make the holes that way the line can flow through the holes better
I used to use ball sinkers mainly on the beach, but last few years gone to stars due to the constant rips and sweeps been getting. Good advise, thanks!
Have I been replaced ..I promise not to catch too many fish next time
LOL! Yep, only so much fluky Jewfish captures I can take!
Well thats a bucket lister ticked off 😂 I had one bite a shallow chubby in half at Lake Mac once…. Good times.
Those jaws on them are scary! Not normally something I get one the beaches but they are so flat with no swell at the moment.
Port Jackson shark?
Sure is, amazing critters.
how do you cast that rig so it doesn't tangle - what am I doing wrong???
You need to sought of sidecast luderick rigs out.or a simple soft enough lob so the float doesnt summersault
@@tiller_gorilla7220 Spot on, all down to the gear. That ISO rod I use is super light and 5.3m, designed for float fishing. Was never very good with a sidecast!
- @@tiller_gorilla7220 Cheers. My first session was a lot of cursing and trying to change my rigs, mono, depth, weights etc.. Will try again.
@@My-Amazing-Life try swinging the rod from beside you then slowly add bit more oomph each time until you comfortable.you can do it with a spin reel and an alvey this way then as you progress lift your rod up a bit more.youll get there, its all learning.Angling is an art form.
You'd get funny looks if you put those Salmon (Kahawai) back in NZ! Get them on the cold smoker!
Prefer the Tailor smoked Stampy. I do like the Salmon as Sashimi though, didnt keep one this time.
Good video mate, beach looks very familiar. I must of not locked the gate while I was overseas for the week 😂
I copied they key when you weren't looking mate!
@@windyfishing9563 fair bump
Great session guys, lovely looking beach - and no one on it too!
Thanks Joe. Really is a lovely beach and in winter, very deserted!
You said, "Its a very picturesque beach", right as Scott appeared on screen. LIES!
Thank you R

Good session mate, cheers from Forster NSW. Have a new subscriber, number 300.
Your audio is a bit off, have to max out everything and can still only just hear you.
Mine seems alright mate on the tv
I have had some issues with the microphone on the camera I have on the tripod, could be that? Latest thing is an intermittent clicking, very frustrating.
you don't wanna eat fish in parramatta river. too much pollution mate
superb fishing at the rocks matt, makes me wanna do the same
Thanks mate, love being on the rocks in winter.
Thats how beach Jews bite. Spewing mate.
My first thought was Jewfish, but I was getting some solid Salmon before and after. Oh well, next time!
Nice day out Matty!
Thanks Stampy!

Good stuff Matt :)
Thanks Joe!
Nice one Matt 👌 The Police have been fining anglers $200 for not wearing pfd’s off my local ledge at Kurnell.
Thanks mate. I normally have mine but forgot it. Didn't even realise until I was looking at the footage!
So they should fine em.too many cowboys giving us long time fishos a bad name. Fines arnt high enough
Great vid' Matt, bought back memories! :)
That was really cool video fellas 😃
They are easier to spear as they don't even seem to swim away much and you can get to 1m away from them, easy
Just came back from a couple of weeks a little further south of Tathra. Beautiful spot with lots of schools of big salmon. Great fat fish that I’m gonna say were up to 5 kilos! Normally catch and release, but took a mate who said they were good on the chew. Kept a few that he bled, prepped, blood line cut out and filleted. Fried in a simple beer batter and no lie they were as good any other fish I’ve tried from the fish and chip shop!
Nice work Brian, 5kg is fair old lump of a Salmon! I recently tried some a Sashimi, surprisingly good!
@@windyfishing9563 average probably 2-3 kg which is a great fish for a Victorian! But a couple were as a long as my leg holding them from the tail and fat…dropped many more than I landed too. Interestingly blue surf poppers on average got hit 4-1 when compared to pilchard baits (paternoster with surf popper and ganged pillie) Lure fishing was a fish a cast when a school came through but hard work when the y moved in. Such an under valued fish. Love sashimi so will have to try it next time.
hey bro been there 6 times and haven’t caught jack all how do i find the gutter at the beach ??
Go at low tide and you'll spot them. Usually best to fish them 1½ ours either side of low tide, and preferebly sunrise you'll get good whiting and flathead.
Also reading the waves will help you see where the gutters are. Go during daylight at low tide and you'll see how the water behaves around the gutters
Hey mate great video, I’m gonna try my luck trout fishing down Jindabyne soon, never been trout fishing before any tips and some half decent places to try out will be on foot but up for a good walk mate cheers love your work
just went there but the other side of the rocks and tries and caught nothing now i see this :(
Can you please send me the physical address of this location. Cheers man
Great information and video 👍
nice session gentlemen that's a nice landing net where did you pick that up from and what is the maximum length it extends to cheers
Heya mate, it extends out to 5.3m. Very useful for high wharfs and rock platforms. They can be quite expensive but you can find them at specialist ISO stores (Iso Lifestyle) or ebay.
Good job mate, about to go and buy that rod you have tomorrow. First iso rod (using for luderick too) What do you think of the rod? Be ok on medium size drummer too you reckon?
I quite like it, I have a much lighter Shimano one too that is a lot of fun. I have caught some small Drummer on it but to be honest I think a medium sized one would be a handful. Planning to chase Drummer this winter a little more on the ISO rods but I might go up to a slightly heavier 3.0 size.
@@windyfishing9563 haha sounds like fun! Thanks for the reply mate. Whats the lighter shimano one you have out of curiosity and which do you prefer for the luderick?
Its a Shimano Radix 1.2-350 and I prefer it for Luddies, so much fun especially on some of the really big Luderick we get in the Harbour at times.
@@windyfishing9563 interesting, so the shimano #1.2 is a lighter rod than the ifl #1 Guess one manufacturers #1 is another manufacturers #2 hey lol Might go check it out tomorrow. Thanks again mate 🤝
Nice video very good fishing
What model TD zero do you run mate and how do you find it for working surface lures
Hey mate where are those rocks?
Heya mate, down at the Port Hacking system. There are plenty of rock ledges and kelp beds to target on both side of the system. I just move around until I find where the Squid are.
What rod is that and size pse
Heya mate, mine is an old Daiwa Heartland HLA1202MRS. It is a 12', 10-20lb rod. Don't think you can get them anymore and it has served me well for many years.
Love the energy mate!
Great surf fishing sess
Great little video mate! Subscribed.
Heya mate, thanks for the Sub! I just started watching a few of your beach fishing sessions, seems we frequent the same beaches at times! Subbed back ;-)
Cheers mate - I am from Canberra, so I frequent beaches from Lakes Entrance in Vic all the way up to about Durras in NSW!
I am from Cooma originally and most of my family are in Canberra. I am in Sydney so I don't get down the south coast as much as I used to. When I did I spent most of my time from Merimbula up to Tuross, love that part of the world.
