Can anyone help I have one an nv250 one of the very first in beige and brown! It worked brilliant until just went pop-started tripping electric and smoke came out, opened up and it’s burnt out a part inside the handle on the wiring near switch it’s a cylinder that says “mains filter unit”…….could it just be a case of replacing that? If so anyone know where to get one as can’t find a single example of that part for sale anywhere online and more recent ones don’t appear to have that in them? Many, many thanks in advance if anyone can help!

Didn't realise the vintage Numatic vacuums were so popular...I just happened to look online for info as I've had my brown & cream NV250 (commercial style) one for nearly 24 years (which came from my parents house before that). My sister has the same NV250 model (in blue/ cream or blue/ white). I think they've amazing vacuums & the vintage ones are so much more robust with their strong metal bodies.

Cool vintage Hoover! The Model S3005 was done in three successive color combos - yours was the first (1974-77) in Flamingo over Antique Copper Shadow. The second, from 1977-c.1980 was in Goldtone over Antique Copper, and the last was something like Frost Beige over Antique Copper Shadow. It was a popular model among US and UK consumers. Btw, if your model's ratings label contains something like "Made in USA for UK", then your serial number would be coded - the first digit after the model digits is the year (4, 5, 6, or 7) and the next two would be the 2-digit month. Very cool - The Model S3001 debuted in 1974 in the Regal over Antique Copper Shadow color combo. In 1977, the colors were changed to Rally Gold over Regal. I'm not certain what mechanical change it signified.

Love mine yours is an earlier model the 2100 mines the 2301 with the push switch colour matching variable speed dial much smaller solution inlet mine has different wands too and mine has a green solution pump switch too which is slightly different to yours yours also has the rocker switches Mine also has the tools caddy on the tubs bumper compared to the 2100 which doesent the 2100 also has a different solution pipe and also different solutions spray control attachment sorry for the random vax lesson on an old vid haha
