What’s the difference between this and the bundle box?
@@ImlegaliSwear I think the difference is the Collector Booster. The Gift Bundle has one, the regular Bundle Box doesnt
You have an extremely low of drawing a Mana Crypt/Jeweled Lotus/Dockside in your opening hand. After that, you're looking at close to a 1% chance of drawing these cards for a couple turns after that, before staying in the single digit percentage chance of drawing likely for the entire game. All of that to say, I play a lot of EDH, and if I'm being honest the only times I have ever seen MC, JL, Dockside go crazy is if the player in question already has a crazy starting hand anyway (which probably means they're already likely to win) and the table doesn't have any interaction. Otherwise I've played dozens of games without even seeing any of these cards in a deck that has all of them. Nadu meanwhile is busted every game because you have easy access to him as the Commander, so I get banning him. The crux of the issue from my perspective is that there's enough people not doing a proper Rule 0 conversation that the RC just decided that banning the cards is easier than people being honest about the power they are playing with. But going forward, I think for the sake of the player base, there needs to be a lot of scrutiny about cards playability in the format during the design process all the way up through release. I get that it's just cardboard, but that didn't stop Wizards from jacking up prices on Commander Masters and slapping a Jeweled Lotus on the box or putting these cards in the Mystery Boosters while the RC was probably discussing/finalizing the ban. Wizards and the RC need to be in sync on that shit because as a consumer, it doesn't feel great to pay a premium, finally get the big chase card, and then be told that is effectively unplayable in MTG. If your argument is still that I should always consider that my cards being banned is a possibility and that "it's just cardboard dude", then that's fine. But don't get mad when I start printing out 1:1 realistic proxies and never buying sealed again. Because if it's "just cardboard", then all I really need Wizards for is art/rules creation. Proxying and Replicas were already on the rise, I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't start another wave of sophistication in that area to the point where it might even just be a better product altogether.
@@kaid980 I fully agree. The potential ban of Nadu was also btw already foreshadowed in the previous ban announcements. Dockside was an ok ban, Crypt and Lotus should have been marked as „on our watchlist“. I personally do not own any copies of either cards, but I feel for all the stores and players who bought them to play competitive games in their groups. I dont mind proxies, but I also dont play any. There‘s plenty of fun to be had without any need for expensive cards with that powerlevel
If its expensive, its strong. If its strong, its at risk to get banned. The more expensive the card the more risk. It will be the same for the next cards that get banned. Edit: The things following up to the ban are questionable at best.
@@notsafefortorque9060 Nadu was a $2 card, that logic does not apply even for this ban. To be clear, I think this ban is fine. However, it was not necessary to ban all four cards at once. The way it was done just increases distrust, sows anger and divides the playerbase. None of which are good for the game.
@@SirMittensPhD I agree with every point you in the video. I just lay back and enjoy the memes on reddit haha. Nadu beeing cheap makes the ban irrelavant I guess. I also said, if its expensive its strong not if its strong its expensive. Clearly there are cheap cards that are stong.
@@SirMittensPhD of course there are cards that are jus expensive cause they are very rare but bad. Maybe I shoud have said "if its beeing played and is expensive"
@@notsafefortorque9060 It‘s just insane how this divides the playerbase and what the implications are for stores and collectors. I think it‘s just a sad moment for the Commander format

I play in casual commander and i didn't have any of the cards that were banned. Yet still, i do not think they should have banned mana crypt and jewled lotus. I can see dockside since he's very strong. But the other two? Just let them stay in competitive/ higher power.

Bro mana crypt is a gamble on life total
im a relatively new player, so i cant speak on the meta aspect too much, but i will say that the amount of people upset about this decision for the sole reason that they lost money is absurd. if you buy an item that has speculative pricing that can change at any moment, you cant complain when it you know, CHANGES? aside from that, as a new player, i dont understand why there isnt a separate rules committee for casual and competitive since its clear to me that the two groups have far different opinions on how commander games should play out (for example cEDH players thinking the game should end within 4 turns)
This would 100% make sense, a cEDH committee would be way more sensible for topics like these. The issue is also not that speculative pricing can go wrong, but the fact that this was completely unnecessary for a format in which casual playgroups just meet and apply Rule Zero (just talk it out) for all high powered cards anyways. Financially, it's just a disaster that WotC is promoting their sets with chase cards (which creates hype and value), and those very same cards might be banned and unplayable (and go to basically $0). If the game would not become increasingly expensive (even Play Boosters), it wouldnt be a big deal. But prices are justified by "big hits"....and poof, they can go to $0..... and that's just a bad combination for the game in general.

@@jamiechew675 I dont play with them at all, as I think they're super cringe in Commander, I Rule Zero them out if possible. However the fact that people and stores were baited into getting those cards (and the sealed products that contained them) and now face a huge financial losses, as well as the division of the playerbase are just horrible for the game
i myself am not very upset about the bans, because they dont really affect me and if youre playing withs like that in an LGS for cedh, you should proxy and the tournaments are winning you the money back. Either way though their bans dont really make any sense bc there are still dozens of ways to grt fast mana in the format
@@cergberg7091 Yup. To be clear, the bans itself dont matter anyways as you Rule Zero the cards back in (in casual playgroups). The way this was done just fucks over LGSs and collectors, they people who put money into the game of Magic which it needs to survive. Losing consumer trust is not great….. I can only repeat myself in saying: why banning these cards, when there‘s countless others that fall under the very same definition?! Why not ban The One Ring as well?! (Oh yeah, probably because there‘ll be a reprint as a set‘s chase card soon, so dont destroy it‘a financial value yet) This ban just lost a lot of people a ton of money and is now just dividing the playerbase with issues. And Commander was all about sitting down with friends, talk and have a good time. All those cards never prohibited me personally from having one….. Rhystic Study, Smothering Tithe, The One Ring, waaaaaay more annoying than Crypt, Lotus or Dockside
The fact WOTC knew about the speculation to ban Crypt and Lotus is insane, they still pushed those cards to be sold as collector items, creating entire collector sets with these cards on the face of them is criminal.
@@Nivexity And the word on the street is that Sol Ring doesnt get banned because this would have increasing legal consequences bc they printed it into EVERY deck and cannot just ban it (however, they of course say it has something to do with Commander format identity blaaaa). The One Ring also didnt get banned, I bet there‘s a fat money grab reprint coming with it as a chase card

@@Nivexity hahahahaha, I dont think so. I think there's most likely a new LotR set coming, or a Masters set with a special print of it as the chase card. I am pretty sure it will be banned pretty much 8-10 months after that set comes out

@@ChimneyCrab737 Yes and no. I agree with the fact that it's just a bubble in a market that can burst. However, you cannot say that this is not inherently bad for the game of Magic as a whole if consumers lose trust with actions like these. Like it or not, collecting is just as much part of the game as gamepieces
Its a random Card draw Game!! Imagine taking "Wild Cards" out of Uno because they let people win to fast!! Literally there argument is as bad as this! Little Timmy's who cant afford a Crypt or a Dock side are all now throwing salt and shade at Cedh players because they enjoy playing top end COMPETATIVE format with the goal of WINNING!!! I have won games on T2-3 I have equally Lost games on T2-3 the ability to do this comes down to HOW GOOD IS YOUR DECK!!!!!! EDH has power levels Timmys disscus power Levels at LGS before any game!! the notion that Timmy's get rofl stomped on a REGULAR basis at LGS is STUPID and unrealistic. Cedh is played by Cedh Players!! they tell the table 1st "hey guys what power lvl" Eg......... Mono Red is basically unplayable now! Name one combo in Mono Red that now can win the game T2-5??? wont happen we all know this! Now lets look at the Festival Box with the x2 Added collector Packs of CM and Ixilan with just out of sheer convenience the main chase cards are Jeweled Lotus and Mana Crypt!!? This is called Pre meditated Fraud based on customer sales and chase availability and MARKETTING potential of this Product! They knew FULL WELL 1 year before this Ban what they were doing what was the plan how to make Millions of dollars and then strip the player base of this value. I have collected and played since 2002 and I love my cards but after the bad taste it has left is only worthy of being SPAT OUT! IMO its simple Wizzards wants us to buy the sealed product they have offered not the cards that have POWER mechanics that let you WIN! My cards are going in the cupboard im going to have a very long break and try and forget this it was never about money and all ways about high caliber playing I love Cedh and the speed and skill required to play and remember every card txt. The hate on FB I have had is utterly insane and the anger against just owning these cards from Timmy's is un warranted and childish. Good vid man I agree with you.

The fact that these cards are banned is just weird, considering that other cards like The One Ring, Smothering Tithe, or Rhystic Study are waaaaaay more annoying in Commander games. This whole situation with festival in a box just makes it worse….. Also, mentioning The One Ring, it feels way more banable than Crypt for example, but heyyyy WotC still needs to reprint it soon, so it cannot be banned and lose value 🙃🙃
While I agree, Sol Ring isnt no where near close to Jaded Lotus. Sol rings is a 1 cost and gives 2 colorless. It's not fair to compare these to cards saying they are almost the same.
@@pony26 Sol Ring and Mana Crypt are much closer, though 😉 I just think that the way the RC communicated this is garbage, same with the entire execution.

I wish I could have gotten this one, it's meaningful and doesn't feel like the usual secret lair cash grab. And as someone else with a tremor, may I suggest a stand for your cards? It is a little distracting when you're trying to look at the art.

Bloomburrow is a set to collect, not to profit. Ive seen people getting hype for getting very specific cards just because the artwork, i have a friend who was so happy because he loves mouses and this set had a lot. In my case if i talk financially, ive lost like 100€, bht damn, im having a ton of fun, and just managed to finally find a non overpriced collector box, so ill open one in french hehehe, maybe i can finally finish the collection and have left overs for a self made commander deck hehehe

MTG has never been an investment, that's the problem with speculators, MTG players play the games, we don't grade them, and If we ever grade one is more for ourselves, because we really love specific cards, or they hold important context to us.

@@SirMittensPhD sealed MTG is expensive if is very old like revised, but they profit not in the speculation, and more in the fandom who loves crack opening boosters. For example, a revised booster box may be around the 5000€ price, but if you check the way the price have behaved in the last 10 years you can see it hasn't changed a lot, meaning that actually is loosing value. Yes, it may have been a good investment if you brought it when it come out and sell it now, but if you buy it now to profit in 10 years you may actually end loosing acquisitive value.
@@onecrazyfennec5337 there‘s other examples like the LotR Holiday edition which cracked the 1000$ mark recently. I view them as short/mid term investments. Most collector boxes have an instant return of 10-15% increased value right after launch. There‘s not many stock investments that can do that. 😅
@@SirMittensPhD that's why is called speculation, stocks market is based in how a company can do or does through time, card investment is speculative (stock market can also be speculative, but is mostly based mostly on how much money the company may or may not make), people with a lot of money will buy a lot of sealed boxes with the speculative hope that they will go up in price, but for each 1000 editions only one or two will do that, and the rest will crash, but we don't hear about the crash, we only hear about the ones who go up. There was a big speculation when the Dr who set came, but now you can find sealed boxes half price. Another market you can see the same is with Lego, people buy sealed Lego sets thinking they will hit jackpot like what happened with the original Taj Mahal set, or starwars. And it happens until the company reprints sets or pieces and the whole market crashes. Check the Lego goat market crash, was a clear example of people speculating in one single Lego piece who suddenly lost a ton of money.
