      Absolutely glad it helped! I think nut milk bags are great for yogurts , I use mine weekly. But only for these soft cheeses if you have more time on your hands to let strain. And I dunno if I mentioned in video but you can run the whey through the process a second time and usually get even more curds! I just only added 1-2 additional tbsp of an acid. Not the full 6 tbsp on the second go round. Thanks for hanging out! Enjoy your cheese!

    Would distilled water be the same as filtered water?

    • @BloomingBayou
      @BloomingBayou 3 месяца назад

      @@cherylcobern4483 it would not be the same since distilled water is demineralized water- yes it’s free of chemicals, and the fermentation process would till take place. However, I would be concerned about the distilled water in the brine leaching all the minerals from the veggies I am fermenting, and thus making the veggies less nutritious. So unless you plan to drink all the brine as well, I would try for a good filtered water with minerals or remineralize your distilled water. Hope that helps :) thanks for being here

    My seven littles were always in the kitchen with me. There was no way around it because the kitchen and great room were together like most new homes out there. I would love a separate kitchen with a door like my childhood home. But I would be there by myself and that would be lonely. My 3 favorite things to keep littles busy........dry erase markers for the fridge door, big sheets of butcher paper taped to the floor for art, plastic kid safe knives with mushrooms or bananas for them to chop. Even if I didn't need the mushrooms they were always told that they were the most important ingredient. My youngest is now 14 and all 7 love mushrooms and they still seem to think I put them in everything!

      You’ll want to stay in the range of about 1-3 tbsp per quart. Anything less and there may not be enough salt for the good bacteria to thrive and may allow for more mold and other issues. The end product isn’t very salty, it’s more sour and pickled flavor due to the fermentation process, the longer it ferments, the less salty it turns out from my experience.

    Sorry, children should not be allowed up around the food that is being prepared with their feet ! You can always seat them at their own little table and let them play with an edible dough of their own…such as edible play dough. You can google it. When my son was young we made some together and handed out individually wrapped pieces for show and tell at his school for his classmates to play with. Plus, the child could fall off of the island and be hurt, or grab a knife. No, a child as young as yours needs constant supervision. These things can be done when the child takes its nap. I would never want my small child around raw eggs, because of bacteria that can make the child very sick or even worse. A friend of mine believed in getting her child ( around same age as yours), involved in the kitchen too at a very young age…letting her little girl help with raw eggs. She caught salmonella poisoning! She almost lost her because of this.😢 I would rather buy premade products until child is old enough to have an understanding about the kitchen and products that are being used in it.
