The thing is that Superman only used half his abilities there were possibly some he only used as a last resort say if he was weakened by an unknown form of energy similar to kryptonite or red solar energy. He may have telekinetic abilities. Or astral projecting abilities to he may not use them all the time?
Back then the back door was never locked. Burglars hadn't yet gotten to the suburbs. When the milkman came to the house in the morning, he would walk right in and put the milk or cream right into the refrigerator. No one gave it a second thought!
I remember there was an episode of the 1960's TV series Batman in which Batman and Robin had to climb up out a hole similar to the way that Jimmy Olsen climbed out.
It goes back to his origin. ALL of his powers were psionic in nature. His flight, strength and invulnerability were all telekinesis. His heat vision was pyrokinesis, like Stephen King's fire starter. His cold breath cryokinesis. X-Ray vision was clairvoyance. Even is ability it disguise himself with just a pair of glass was him sending out a telepathic suggestion of "I'm not Superman" to everyone around him. Later the comics started deviating from that origin, then tings god real wired, before they reigned it back in and forgot the source material
this makes no sense Superman can't do that. the kryptonite should have stopped from using any kind of power. in the end the Adventures superman show became a little bit cheesy.
Superman Strange visitor from another planet who came to earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. Fighting for Truth Justice and the AMERICAN way
No wonder Batman can get the better of Superman he blabbed to Lois can't see through lead only weakness is Kryptonite I grew up in Smallville oops shouldn't have said that. What wait so did Clark hmm.
ok, after coming back to this video 8 months later, I realize how absurd this scene was.. Not that it was physically impossible to do if you're a totally in shape super athlete, but weak ass Jimmy Olsen in a business jacket? If it was 8 or 10 feet maybe, but 60 feet? His triceps, biceps and shoulder muscles, not to mention his glutes, would have given out before he got halfway and he would have fallen back to the bottom! Not to mention Lois doing it in heels?? But as a 10 year old you dont think about that
Five takeaways from this episode: 1. Lois could have stopped the wall laying flat on the ground instead of levitating. 2. Lois has an incredibly strong spine and hard head, which we already knew. 3. Jimmy Olsen has mad ninja-like climbing skills. 4. The bad guys don't know how to design a spine-crushing drive system for their movable wall. 5. Superman is an a-hole for not rescuing Lois and for using her head as a doorstop.
Ouch. What cringe-worthy writing. Great actors all around to muster the will to pull off selling this silly shit and putting it on film. Supes with levitating powers. Really? Not a total surprise, as they kept adding to his abilities in the Siver Age comics so much, he could pretty much do anything. The writers (here and in the comocs) were like: "Whatever..."
"What do we do now?" 😄 | "...You'll have to get out the same way Jimmy did..." - What?! Why can't Superman levitate her out with his mind again, especially now that he's back at full strength? 😮 | And then, her headache...?! That was a tough episode for Lois!
😅😅😅😅well information good show 😅😅😅
I'm glad he didn't have his way with her when she was rigid.

Could've been a more suspenseful scene if Jimmy was required to go up the walls as they closed in and once up he had to scurry to stop the machine.
Din know Superman could levitate a lady.
I was so hoping lois came out 4 ft tall😂
Superman, dude! You're gonna make a lady climb out of the hole. Great series, but this was one of the WTF moments.
I remember watching this in the 70’s and being so worried about Superman.
Is this a true story🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨
It's canon and in the new JLA movie

Lois must had a hell,of a headache.
I watched weekday afternoons after school.
why did he leave her there?
Is this the only version of Lois Lane in either print or on screen who's a redhead?
My mom was a kid watching this in the 1950s
0:17 Good God. George Reeves must have jumped down 10 feet from a ladder. If I had done that I would have broken both my ankles.
Thanks for the great memories!!
You can still see the shadow.
Reminds me of my youth, well done reuploading this youngster
Very heroic episode with Jimmy Olson doing something that practically nobody but Superman could ever do! Same goes for Lois! Sweet ending scene too.

Yep... What happened?
That was cold from Superman! Lois helped save his life, and he's telling her get out on your own! lol
George always looked 52.
My favorite scene he took the coal and made a large diamond.
I dont recall superman having those powers
He also walked through a solid stone wall.

Remember when people would say " golly" and mot fu$k
🤣
WTF, good grief. He has the power to levitate a person but not fly?
this makes no sense Superman can't do that. the kryptonite should have stopped from using any kind of power. in the end the Adventures superman show became a little bit cheesy.
Why did Superman tell Lois she had to climb out like Jimmy did rather than just fly her out?
Superman Strange visitor from another planet who came to earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. Fighting for Truth Justice and the AMERICAN way
Simply The best Supermam
Why didn't Superman levitate Jimmy up out of the trap so he didn't have to risk his life??😊
Every week day at 4pm after school. No VCR, DVR, or streaming. If you missed it you were SOL for that episode until a rerun.
Who said Superman don't do comedy !!
No wonder Batman can get the better of Superman he blabbed to Lois can't see through lead only weakness is Kryptonite I grew up in Smallville oops shouldn't have said that. What wait so did Clark hmm.
Didnt take much pressure to stop the wall. What if that hadnt worked? Lol

Gotta love the way he sized her up just before the levitation (hers).

Jimmy Olsen was a stud. That was a really tough climb.
What a time to be alive…

you mean when his bloomers slid down a bit during the big landing ?
I've seen Superman do many fantastical things, but levitating someone else seems to go a little too far. Has he done it before or since?
This scene HAUNTED me for years!
What wonderful time to be a kid. Wholesome programs and learning to use your imagination.
