    Unfortunately state courts have no clue to complying with title ii in regards to mental health disabilities

    You are an ADA and accessibility advocate, and your only comment about grates is that it's an issue for anyone with heels? What about a person who is visually impaired or blind using a white cane?!

    • @bluedag3106
      @bluedag3106 8 месяцев назад

      Thanks for your comment. Apologies that it may not have been clear from this short webinar excerpt, but the "heels" comment was made by one of the webinar participants, not the presenter. The webinar was presented in a "what's wrong with this picture?" format, and participants were invited to submit their answers via chat in each section. Of course, oversized grate openings present many hazards to persons with disabilities.

A portion of the counter surface that is 36 inches (914 mm) long minimum and 34 inches (864 mm) high maximum above the finish floor shall be provided. A clear floor or ground space complying with Section 11B-305 shall be positioned for a parallel approach adjacent to the 36 inch (914 mm) minimum length of counter. Exception: Where the provided counter surface is less than 36 inches (914 mm) long, the entire counter surface shall be 34 inches (864 mm) high maximum above the finish floor. 11B-904.4.2 Forward approach. A portion of the counter surface that is 36 inches (914 mm) long minimum and 34 inches (864 mm) high maximum shall be provided. Knee and toe space complying with Section 11B306 shall be provided under the counter. A clear floor or ground space complying with Section 11B-305 shall be positioned for a forward approach to the counter.

    In California, do you ever see a Mother's room using countertop with all the accessible clearances as a change table to replace wall mounted changing table? It's for cost.

      I see them in nicer hotels and airports. They are safer and cleaner. Easier maintenance. I always recommend a clean safe permanent baby changing counter where space allows. The folding ones frequently fail at the hinges and are difficult to maintain the plastic changing surface. Matching the solid surface vanity counters always is a safer and design solution.

    I didn't know that from the center of wc to the side wall is 16"-18". I thought it was 17"-18"and is the toilet seat cover illegal to mounted behind the wc? should the toilet tissue mounted reversed?

    • @bluedag3106
      @bluedag3106 2 года назад

      Hi Mike, you're not wrong, but we were talking about 2010 ADAS. We believe you're referring to California requirements under the CBC. If we were just talking about California, then it would be 17" - 18". The seat covers need to be on an accessible route and within reach range. Also, no, the toilet tissue does not need to be mounted in reverse. The requirement is for the dispenser not the paper. Thank you for commenting and starting a good dialogue.

      The issue with the Seat Liner Dispenser over the rear grab bar, is the projecting units are a barrier to the 12" minimum clear space required above a grab bar. Depending on the water closet length, the reach is often an obstructed reach with the output mounted too high. It's more efficient to locate the seat liner dispenser away from the water closet where a person can easily grab one on the way to the water closet. Keep the output at a reasonable height for an easy unobstructed forward or parallel reach.

    You are using a visual medium...but not providing any visuals. This would be so much more informative and effective if you would show what you are talking about. There is no advantage to seeing two talking heads talk.
