What’s up, I was wonder if you can help me with istep on my project. I had it up and running, everything worked as it should, but suddenly I can’t hear the footsteps anymore? I changed nothing and that just happened. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
did you try debugging it? check if your events are configured properly in the FootIK script and check your EffectsPlayer settings. Technically it should be easily debugable where the issue comes from :). Best regards, Kreshi.

Yes, iStep works with all Character Controllers - iStep only requires your Mesh to be imported as type humanoid :). Best regards, Kreshi

I can confirm this works on URP 14 (Unity 2022.3.46f), and gotta say it, works like a charm! Im also using Enviro 3 and this shader correctly renders after fog and volumetric clouds, it looks awesome!

Это не сложно сделать, это называется инверсивная кинематика. Можно с помощью локальный осей преобразовывать положения конечностей под положения плоскости, получая данные через рейкастинг. Все как 2+2, все на много проще чем кажется 😎

This game looks sick, I have some questions: Will this come out on the ps5? Will you sell physical copies? Will we have the ability to change our appearance? Will you be able to replay missions? (like on the menu screen) How long have you developed this? What inspired you to make your game a mix of a hack & slash and a third person shooter?
Hi and thank you for your questions! 1) PS5 - I will keep the answer super simple, even though the answer is super complex: at this point in time there is a 50% chance that it will :). 2) Physical copies - can't say yet. 3) Appearance changes - only to a small degree. 4) Replay missions - absolutely! 5) Development time - about 10 months, but this also includes learning UE5. 6) Inspiration - I love this genre mix since I played "Bid For Power" for the very first time when I was still a teenager :).

I like the idea of a mix of hack & slash and 3rd person shooting, there are two games that did what you are doing (devil`s third and wanted: Dead) but unfortunately based on what ppl think those games were not great, who knows your game could be better then those and if your game has it to where you can pull off multiple combos you are already winning. If you want some inspirations I suggest you look up those games I mentioned. Whether it comes on ps5 with physical copies or not (but I highlight suggest you do) I appreciate you making a hack & slash game, more so for the fact that you`re also adding 3rd person shooting in it too. The developer of Wanted: Dead wanted to pave the way for a new sub-genre of H&S/TPS games to be made and I'm glad to see you`re doing that whether you realise it or not. H&S games have been in the decline for some years but thanks to developers like you making your own games they are making a comeback I have a list of over 10 H&S games that are either out now or currently in development. Just focus on making your game as fun and sick as possible and you will be raking it in, what you have now is already good, just keep at it. Lastly just for something for you to think about, the developer of Steller Blade said that it is important for the back of the character to look better than the front of the character.

@@Rhymez15 the shown CharacterController is included for showcasing purposes in the demo content of iStep. So while you will get full access to it with iStep, it is not what I sell. why are the audio sources generated on runtime?
the audiosources are dynamically generated and pooled to be used without limitations when playing multiple audio files very close after one another :). best regards, Kreshi

@@maris.2505 So if you import the *.unitypackage file into your Unity project, you will find a file named "DistortionShaderGraph" in the folder "_HoaxGames/Distortion/DistortionEffect/". From that I generated the "DistortionShader" shader, which is also in the same folder :). Best regards, Kreshi

I tried this out today in Unity 6, and it no longer works. There were some obsolete lines that I had no alternative for (with my level of understanding). It would be awesome if you could do a video on using this in Unity 6. If only shadergraph was able to capture screen alpha by default!
My focus has switched a lot towards the development of Captain Carnage, so I will probably not look into the Unity 6 changes any time soon. Best regards, Kreshi

Hi I just brought Istep today and it did immediately make my character come to life more. I’m still trying to find the right setting. At first when I put the script in my character was bouncing up and down thousands of times about a foot off the ground. I realized I may have his collider might be too tall and shortened it and that fixed it. But then he could no longer walk up on to steps I created that he could walk on perfectly before I changed that collider height. I’m trying to play with the settings to find the right spot where it will work for both my terrain with mesh colliders and steps that might have box collider is triggers. Plus have it not make one of his foot in crouch animation be off of the ground. If I fix it to work on steps it throws off the ground and he bounces and crouching looks shaky and weird. If I fix the ground and crouching somewhat he can’t walk up steps. I’m sure I’ll figure it out.

Hi, does iStep work with multiple colliders? I'm going to make a character controller using the CC component as the central collider (in the character's torso) and other colliders for the limbs.
Yes it does. Just make sure the colliders are configured to a layer that iStep ignores :). The layers to which iStep reacts to can be configured within iStep ;). Best regards, Kreshi

that's probably because of the custom GrabPass feature - it probably doesn't support VR and would need an update for that I guess. best regards, Kreshi
Best foot placement system in Unity store. Thank you for all the updates and improvements of this asset since its release. Question for the developer: is it possible for you to add a parameter to the inspector which will control the leg stretching (as Unity IK system stretches the legs by about two inches). Or is it possible to tun OFF the stretching? It really looks bad on some chars.
Hi Dennis, thank you for the positive feedback :). Have you tried out "Compute Ik Hint Position Strategy" set to "BONE_BASED"? Independently from stretching, this option could technically improve your IK behaviour (I personally recommend it). Now back to your question - the correct way to fix stretching issues in Unity (it is independent from iStep) is to open the Avatar settings menu of your character (select your Avatar -> Configure Avatar. Alternatively: select your mesh -> Rig -> Configure) then go to the "Muscles & Settings" tab and adapt "Leg Stretch" to your needs. Sometimes adapting Upper/Lower Leg Twist and/or Feet Spacing can improve your final animations too. There is also the option "Translation DoF" which - depending on your rig/character could improve your final results as well :). Hope this information helps ;). Best regards, Kreshi

looks goodş. what do you think about UE vs Unity graphics wise. Could Unity look good in some aspects as much as UE? Now I know its not about engine... but sometimes its about engine, you need models lightning etc but lets not get into that we all know UE base look is so much better.
If it is about baked lighting I think they are pretty even. If it is about dynamic lighting UE has some advantages over Unity at the moment. Dynamic APV is already in progress according to Unitys roadmap so this gap should close very soon - probably this year :). There is also raytracing for both engines with which you can improve lighting conditions without baking but that's a topic for its own I think :D. Best regards, Kreshi

The provided solution sadly won't work for Build-in RP. You will have to search for some older tutorials on the net to find a solution for BIRP. You can also try to check out this: assetstore.unity.com/packages/vfx/particles/particle-pack-127325#description and this: assetstore.unity.com/packages/vfx/particles/legacy-particle-pack-73777#releases If you are lucky, it contains a distortion shader for BIRP :).
