Coppicing sweet chestnut. Coppicing is one of the most sustainable forms of forestry, as the trees regrow from the stumps and have a short rotation. These trees are around 25 years old, and in another 25 years they will be ready to cut again. This wood has likely been managed this way for many centuries.
