The facelifted '24 Model 3 Performance features fully revised suspension, with not a single shared component with the regular Model 3 Long Range. It features real-time adaptive shocks, for the first time on a 3, that adjust continually (in a combined compression/rebound adjustment.)
The New M3P's interior features real (excellent) sport seats, a carbon-fiber "blade" on the dashboard, and an adjustable track mode that allows full control of handling...

    Thanks for this through review, I always value Jason’s opinion. I just want to mention that I am an enthusiast who got a model 3 as a daily, and Jason’s comments have basically read my mind (regarding the tradeoffs for ICE sport sedans are not worth it anymore as a daily). It’s the truth and takes some time for an enthusiast to swallow

    Might only be me, but the issue with Tesla model 3 is the lake of driver control on lower models. On the single or dual motor (which is 4.2 0-60 common that more then enough around town) you can not turn off TSC or ESP. The only way to get access to those options is to get the track mode, which you can only access on the performance models. Elon did say "kinda" that track mode would come to none performance models, but so far nothing. You can technically unplug the wheel speed sensor (Which please don't, you will lose ABS, and now the connector is exposed to elements). Or get a "Ghost" module to hack the computer. For me, I want the ability to do drift and donuts in a parking lot after it snows. So I either need to hack a model 3 dual motor, or save up another 10K for the performance. Common ELON give me track mode, or at least a on off button for ESP/DSC/TSC.

    Took me a while to get the turn signals, and agree they’d be better off left and right. What I did realize however is that if you would swipe a stalk up, you press the top button. If you’d swipe the stalk down, you push the bottom button.

    Is it just me or did they kind of put back the front bumper side air intake slits that was on the 2023 model 3, removed in the 2024 refresh but now it’s back on the 2024 performance? I honestly liked the 2023 Model 3 front look better still so it’s a good move to put the intake back in the 2024 performance

      That's a weird thing to consider a main issue, isn't it? I've got eight cars. Only one of them has a HUD. It's a nice little extra gimmick I guess, but it certainly isn't something that would make or break my purchase decision.

    • @therealpickleahoy
      @therealpickleahoy 2 часа назад

      @@xtnuser5338 Its not when you don't have a speedo gauge in front of you. If Elon refuses to add a small screen in front of the wheel over aesthetics, then a HUD would be an easy compromise for the standard in ergonomics of driving: Being able to check your speed without bending your line of sight

    • @xtnuser5338
      @xtnuser5338 2 часа назад

      @@therealpickleahoy That's a fair point for sure, but I just don't feel the high level of importance of it that you do. I can flick my eyes to the side for a split second the same as I do for my mirrors, and it doesn't seem like a big deal. Maybe it would save a life or two once in a while? Also a good point, but also one I'm not sweating over. Even though perhaps one of those lives might be my own. We can't save every person in the world from every little risk in the world, and I'm not going to sweat every detail as if we could.

      @xtnuser5338 heads up display is not gimmick, i was driving a toyota hybrid and i kept focusing on the battery gauge and the gas pedal guage (the pedal on modern cars give no feeback so you cnat just feel what percentage of power your pushing for) , because i drive for effiency because its fun, and if i drove for speed especially in a faster car, its also be useful to pay some attentin to speed especially in these modern issolate cars where you can feel anything. i tried driving with no attention to the gauges , much more enjoyable to drive that way... big tinted heads up display would let me focus on gauges in peripheral vision or at least make the focus shift less intense, quicker, less stressful over many repetitions. there is much differing between cars so something like this could be a deal breaker. aftermarket could maybe solve the issue by wired connection for all cars

    You petrolheads moaning need to understand that 1. There will always be classic car licenses and track days, so don't despair. 2. We are today where we were when streaming video began to offer an alternative to Blockbuster Entertainment cassette rental hurt. Anyone who thinks ICE vehicles have any future is delusional, the sub 17 approx young know nothing of driving / hearing classic ICE vehicles and will be educated and encouraged to adopt EVs. I have had plenty of cool German and Japanese ICE, but then I used to play ELO, War Of The Worlds, Status Quo and Jean-Michel Jarre on my Technics SL-Whatever DD turntable and watched TV on a 480P CRT. But I'm writing this in a fantastic Tesla Model Y LR watching these super guys on RUclips and my tunes stream over Spotify or Amazon Music. There is no going back. The cost of providing parts and support for ice vehicles will stop becoming economical once EVs take 5 or more % of the market. Gas stations the same. Anytime now. I'm a tree hugger so want clean air because too many people I know got cancer. And I blame cars because each lived near roads.

      Meh. Sure, Tesla just killed the competition by all the numbers. But there are many subjective qualities that make up purchase decisions, and favoring them doesn't mean you're crazy. Some people might not want an electric car. Some people might not like the looks. Some people might just prefer the interior, or the sound, or the visibility, or the feel of the brake pedal, or any other of a million possible little subjective things about another car that suits them better.

      @xtnuser5338 3 часа назад

      Comparisons can be useful, whether the two things you are comparing differ significantly in price or not. For example, a listener can then decide whether a set of benefits is worth twice the price to him or not. Or for another example, I like hearing the comparisons just because I enjoy automotive knowledge, even though I am not in the market for any electric car in the first place.

    18:46 oh good lord...I can't stand this complaint, especially from someone who hasn't lived with one. The stalks were dumb and an appendage that needed to go away. I've spent 40k+ miles in a stalkless Model S and it's JUST BETTER. It's even better in the Model 3 with tactile buttons vs. just capacitive. Your hands never have to change grip to indicate like you do with stalks, it's just the flick of a thumb. Change is hard to wrap your mind around, but I promise if you put aside legacy bias and think about it objectively, you'll come to the conclusion that it's just a better user experience.

    31:40 I said it back when the ATS-V came out, and I said it again when the CT4V BW came out - it needs an NA V8 to get me to buy one; on the other side of the coin, the IS500 needs a good 6mt to get me to buy one; I love the engine, but the 8AT is just a let down from an enthusiast standpoint. I bought an IS350 as an "in between" car nearly five years ago at this point, it's ~300lbs lighter than the IS500; sure the extra ~160hp more than makes up for the weight gain on paper, but I think the IS350 is already too heavy at ~3,600lbs in the RWD F-sport trim that I have; a Tremec 6mt in the IS500 (and the subsequent loss of ~90lbs from dropping the Aisin 8spd) would get me behind the wheel of one. The market hasn't given me anything I've wanted to buy in a long time, but at least now I'm driving a Lexus/Toyota that I don't have to worry about falling apart on me or being expensive to maintain. The Ioniq5 N is the current top "performance" EV to me, not that it's the best, but I'd take it over the Model 3 performance if only for the usable interior and fully defeatable nannies, but honestly, I don't want either of them.

    If my memory serves me correctly the Model 3 was supposed to be Model E, but that is Trademarked by Ford. Elon wanted to tip his hat to the Model E as the first high volume vehicle manufactured. But since it was not possible to brand it as that he turned the E around and used the 3. But someone can correct me if I’m incorrect. Great review by a ICE biased journalist. Really looking to pick up a M3 Performance in the near future but I will prob let the first deliveries happen then wait about a year for used ones to hit the market and not take the hit on depreciation. But, it’s really hard to wait with all these initial reviews on this car. Currently have a 2017 Model S 90D but it’s my wife’s daily. Stuck with my 2011 Nissan Maxima SV Sport for my daily.

      it would be more enjoyable to drive low weight car where you can feel how close to grip limit car is through steering and even ats if you like. you could speed more on downhill-ish roads at optimal RPM according to bfsc graph for your engine (similar deal in electric motor) , speeding up even beyond aerodynamically effceint speed before uphills. aerodynamic efficiency loss gets exponentially worse at linear change in speed but cars design could make it not as bad). steer and brake steadily and minimally . this is like old school endurance racing avoiding pitstops except you could decide to not go as fast as possible for lower ( emissions and materials usage) . rear wheel drive and limited slip diffential for less tire wear and stable powered traction around turns , even lot of normal drivers will make it worth while on accident. sport car mid rear engine weight distribution rear wheel drive also helps preserve momentum around turns because under braking car tilts forward and too much weight on front wheels lowers grip, greater tire wear . weight worsens crash saftey for everyone in crash (tire grip can resist against the car moving in the way of danger due to crash) , worsens road wear damage, grip levels (unless you are ok with expensive tire replacements often) , increases materials usage and emissiosn including tire dust" xenoestrogen micro plastic" . other weight problems can be fixed with money. crash saftey with forged recycled carbon fiber and crash absorbing steel (to prevent car form moving in way of danger in crash, weight must be balanced with relying on tire grip for this goal). active suspension option moves car into a angle and height for strong heavy lower end of crash structure to absorb crash of such sturcture of the car itll hit. because electric battery and motor cannot be fully recycled, hybrid uses less materials to reduce materials usage and emissions (biological toxcity. i know climate crisis is attribution to human activity seems false, that CAFE law and anti nuclear , corbett report , NWO ,etc all show its a deception) compact 4 seater coupe with adult size reat seats (dont think the usual and youll realize this is a big deal) is all that actually needed. areodynamic transparent shell over the thermal and anti sound materials shaped for weight reduction. maybe 1.8 liter inline 3 hybrid with optional first gear for high torque (for sporting, towing, ,and skilled eco driver)

    Can someone explain the “no maintenance” thing? I get that there’s less moving parts and no oil changes, but you still have suspension, steering, brakes and complex, high capacity cooling systems that all require maintenance. Or is the theory that that the battery will be dead and the car effectively landfill by the time the rest of the components need work?

      Well… on my over 7 year old model S with over 113k miles, I have yet to replace anything major other than the upper control arms from squeaking due to salty winter roads. The brakes are still very good because of regen. Steering great. Battery has only lost about 9% of range. People have gone over 300k miles on same battery. Sure, some people have had to replace their battery but not many. Most of that is FUD from people that don’t know any better or the oil industry wanting you to stick with gas cars. I’m never buying another gas car. And the fact that I save about 1500 or so per year in gas is another bonus.

    FYI Mr. Cammisa, battery temp is more important for power output than battery charge level. Many think it’s charge level as the #1 factor that limits the output but it is the temp. It seems you had a properly-warmed one anyway if you got 2.90 WITH a passenger ;-)
