How to make your stick welder a TIG welder
This is going to sound stupid but how or even is it a thing, but how do you know what your metal is (+ or -) or does it just depend on the stick flow direct?
What kind of welding skills you need to read blueprints. Ive never seen something so complicated
Right now im doing Mig and tig and they have us learning blueprints...this is tricky as well
hi
That sure looks like a lot of weld splatter to me. Is a wire good if the welds are great but the splatter is unacceptable?
Very Helpful thanks 👍
Can this tool weld aluminum
I have the same welder and want to set it up to try tig, if I was to get a torch with the right dinse size and a gas line. Is the power block necessary?
Those welds look kinda cold to me.
What if your welding 1/4" to 1/8"? Do you set machine for the 1/4" or 1/8"?
What rod do you feel is the most versatile for this welder operating on 120volt?
@kendahl909, 3/23 e7014
3/32 E7014
or Blue Demon 5/64 e7014
I teach welding and so far this is the best budget welder for price ive used. Most cant run 6010 or 11 on 120v. The 225 i bought welded it flawlessly 1/8 6011 maxed on 120v ran like a big welder. Unbelievable that it can do this while drawing 15a sustained on 120v. Efficency must be far above 90% Edit* Did the math. Mathmatically if their numbers displayed are correct, than this welder would be 97% efficent. Which is abnormally high. But i may confirm later with meters.. may be closer to 95% still amazing
Project farm did a review last year
@heliarc5186, it can burn those cellulose rod with that high ocv of 85amps ,higher that some miller stick welders and actually higher ocv than most Everlast stick welders🧑🏭
Ma come mai la tiri la saldatura?
I just bought one. Haven't tried it yet. I need one ever now and then. 😅uh
Great purchase. Cheap and effective
terrible camera, great show and tell, thank you.
Your welds are incredible! I just picked up this little rig to learn with. My physics and chemistry backgrounds really kicked into drive as I was laying down the best weld in history on my first day (that is a joke, please laugh) and I thought to myself: wow, if only TIG/MIG wasn't out of sight in terms of price. Conceptually, I was running through how the whole process works and just thinking... I wonder if this little gizmo can do TIG/MIG with some very minor "modifications" and I bet it that it could, and it sure does! Very impressive! This is invaluable information for somebody just getting into the craft, I can't thank you enough! Your channel is an amazing find!
Genius! Please make more content when you can!
You got some nice welds there.👍👍
For flux cored stainless that stuff runs really well. I figured it was going to be very tough and almost impossible to make decent welds. Blue Demon did a nice job.
This is the exact kind of video I've been searching for. I bought that welder and i wanted to see what it can do. Now that i know...i need to start practicing! Thank you!
Couldn't you just usea big battery charger for the power source
lol not sure about that
you think this sort of tig welding will be suitable with the smaller AC/DC buzzboxes? The strongest in amps available on the market is Forney rated at 235/185 and to be honest that 185 amp DC output is questionable, I think the Italians are bullshitting us
Well if it’s a buzz box it’s only AC welding so it won’t work. Buzzbox is a transformer only machine. But if you can snag a transformer-rectifier machine you are good. Even if the amps are lower than you think. 150 amps can weld some pretty decent size metal. Great question and thanks for watching.
@@weldzcool1147 My bad, I call all the box type stick welders transformers a buzzbox ( well they buzz a lot when they are on) I was talking about for example the Lincoln AC/DC 225/135, or the Forney AC/DC 235/185, or Miller and Hobart AC/DC 235/165 or 300/200 ( they dont make these anymore though) These are all transformer stick welders just smaller than yours AKA tombstone type and they have AC/DC capabilities. One more question, what's the lowest amperage you can scratch start an ark with this sort of tig welding?
Thank you for clearing up a few things for me. I never realized that the arc length was controlled by voltage when in short circuit mode. As I understood it worked for spray transfer as by increasing the voltage the arc length increased because more of the wire was burned off by the higher voltage . Also burn back was a big problem with increased voltage.
Does this welder have the strike to start option without using the pedal?
from what I can tell the two options for this machine are the high frequency start using the foot pedal and the lift arc option which wouldn't require the pedal.
Yeah this information is not correct!
Haha okay. Been a CWI and welder for 20 years buddy.
The video had no sound on my computor, What tig torch was that and where do I get one?
Not sure why you couldn’t hear it but the torch was WP-17v and using a power cable adaptor. Easy peasy
Thanks man, I appreciate am a beginner in welding, I really learnt alot from this and I wish you would do more videos on welders blueprint, Thanks
Thanks for the explanation, now it makes sence
Nice! Soundtrack is like Hee Haw meets Dukes of Hazzard!!
But with solid wire, the weld Nn must be pushed???
I can't get mine to work right. I got it maxed out at 225 amps on the 240 setting and it doesnt hardly wanna burn a 3/32 7018 rod
Not perfect
Not perfect
I just got one of these at harbor freight to teach my boys to weld around the farm I paid 279.00
Just picked one up for $180! Never welded before but figured at that price this should be a good learning machine.
Perfect to learn with and I wouldn’t pass on that price either. Welcome to the welders club!
How?
@@KollynJ probably a in store deal at HF
@@KollynJharbor freight has open box sales sometimes, from what I learned recently.
That is a great deal? Open box? I picked one up for $240 today at HF. Labor Day sale.
Damn dude, this is great, you make it look so easy. My butt joints are getting decent for tig, but I'm really struggling with fillets
I have the blue demon E7014 5/64 nice easy start diy home/farm light duty repair rod🧑🏭
Yes sir!
what happened to your head.........cheers from Florida, Paul
LOL bad camera setup and rolling solo. I'll fix in next videos...although I don't think anyone is watching to see this mug HA
Is the blueprint full scale?
No it’s not full scale. It’s a copy of a print so even the reduced scale isn’t accurate.
Awsome video I’ve really been struggling on my 3 pass fillet welds. Now I can hopefully use this technique. Thanks heaps Great video 🤙🏼
Thanks for watching. Keep at it, it only gets better
I build smokers 1/4 and 3/16 plate how is the duty cycle if you run 1/8 6010 and 1/8 7018 on 240
As long as you have the higher voltage hookup you will run nonstop with 1/8” rods.
Thank you for this video!
Thanks for watching. I have a back log of similar videos I hope to get out this fall.
Very informative video I have the same machine trying to teach my self, I need all the help I can get, I don't have a 240 to run it on i have to run on 110 I can't get the 1/8 inch rods to weld at all they just arc for second but that's it
Yea the 1/8 are tough on 110v. But can get away with the 3/32. If you can get the higher voltage hookup you will be golden.
Great welds by the way, you make it look easy, it's very difficult I hope some day I can weld like you! How long have you been welding?
So does this conversion allows me to weld thinner steel ?say around 2mm
Sure. Just set the machine low. Just can’t control heat with a remote.
This will work on any DC welding machine. Been welding pipe like this for 30+ years.
100%
Looks great, so does the ArcCaptain tig and stick , aeems like a few good welders and good prices lately. The HF titsnium was good on output according to Farms youtube channel.
That was great now can you go to the ac side of the welder and tig weld Aluminium thanks
Does it actually penetrate 3/16 steel. For structural build.
Hi, thank you for the video. I had one question though, that is, why does the Aspect 230 AC/DC power cord have a female plug?
It comes with 2 outlet adapter plugs 220 or 110 volt
Does anyone know what generator i need to run this on the 240v settings? I used the 120v at max amperage and it was hardly able to weld a thing hinge on a metals door from an apartment complex front gate. It felt like i needed 80-90amps at least but i managed to "get it done"
120v carries 3680watts. X2 7200. At 20 amps ... 220v carries 7220 watts on 30 amp breaker and that's max. Need a 40 amp breaker to carry 10400watts. You need the 30 amp breaker on the hf harbor freight Preditor 220v. 7250watts. You need a 10,500 watts or more for a 40-50 amp breaker plug in on a generator or house.. on the 30 amp. 220 don't turn up the welder passed like 190 amps out. . And according to this build . You can only weld according these options. On the Preditor.😢
BD makes the best flux core wire I've ever used. It also works great when used with gas in a dual shield weld.
They definitely have some great rods
@@weldzcool1147 I haven't tried their rod yet, but I just got their 140msi and so it's just a matter of time. The welder is awesome.
Very well photographed and of course executed! Subscribed. Deserves more views.
Appreciate that!!
