Gabi Neurohr - Understanding Horses
Австрия
Добавлен 24 ноя 2014
Hi I am Gabi, my passion is the education of young horses, from foal to giving the horse a solid foundation as a riding horse. My main goal for every horse is to create a horse that loves spending time and that UNDERSTANDS what is asked. Trainings Theories based on Dominance are outdated - in my videos you can discover how I train horses based on Empathy and Understanding.
On my channel you can find plenty of videos and tutorials about
- groundwork exercises that I love to teach young horses to prepare them for a safe and gentle start under saddle - bitless.
- how I start horses under saddle, bitles, fair and friendly
And of course you will find plenty of other inspirational videos - all around the topic creating a happy partner for life

Gwayne Session 12 - The First Canter on Trail Ride
Come with us on a trail ride!
The objective today is to get the first canter out on a trail ride together with good uncle Berti. I am going to share with you important keys to success and to stay safe when cantering out on trail ride for the first time.
But before we leave for the trail ride, I make sure Gwayne is with me and the pre-flight checks are in place. She turns out to be quite distracted by the other horse - uncle Berti - in the arena. This is a great session for you to learn how to focus a horse back on you.

Gwayne Session 11 - Playful Groundwork and The Steering Pattern

In today’s session we continue the work of establishing solid basic responses when riding. On the ground, I teach her how to straddle a pole sideways just to have something interesting new for the smart girl. Then we play with a fun pattern with 4 poles on a circle to teach her about maintaining gait on her own better. I have a quick look at the canter departs on the ground, to check she is pro...

I love your videos, seriously underrated, you’re so kind and attentive with these horses, inspires me to be more attentive with mine too
I love that bridle. May I ask who sells it?
i don't know. The owner gave it to me to start this mare. I also can't check because this is 5 years ago
@ oh my 5 years! Thank you for replying! I will do some searching.
All I know is that it is a french brand. Maybe D'yon?
We have a standardbred mare, which is an ex trotter. She is a very sensitive soul at the best of times but she just cannot break into a canter with someone on her. She will do it in the paddock, but there's something that stresses her out about doing it with a rider. That's ok she has 3 gears walk, trot and extended pacing. We don't want to punish her so we don't push her. Her pacing is faster than most horses canter anyway. I just want to say I totally understand and you're doing a lovely job wih Fougita 🎉❤❤
so nice you are doing the same for your mare. After all, they weren't bred for cantering but for being excellent at trotting and/or pacing. Lets allow horses to excell for what they were bred for and stop trying to push them into something they are just not talented for.
@gabineurohr amen to that 🥰
LOVELY 🌹
BEAUTIFUL 😘😘😚 MARE HORSE 🐎 HORSEFLYING A
Love your work and your thoughts! It is very easy to make a prey animal run, but it is hard to make them relax.
exactly. relaxation is everything because a tense horse can't think
That is very impressive! 😮
She needs help
@@lloyddalziel6950 really!
My pony was a rescue I’ve had him 9 months he is four and he’s getting much more trusting I notice he yawns alot like this to release tension ?
yes, yawning is a sign of release of tension - your horse is letting go of stress. You know, horses who experienced abuse or bad handling in the past, can feel stressed as soon as you put the halter on or take them in the arena. simply because they anticipate bad handling like the experienced in teh past. If then this doesn't happen and you show your horse empathy, give time, see his worry, he will at one point let go of this stress and start yawning. this is amazing
@ he is four and so strong I have to use a bit to move him from field to stable each night and in morning to field I want to start from scratch with him so he’s not fighting with me as he’s so strong and I’m small so strength isn’t ever going to work. Is there a way to restart everything with a strong four year old ! A course or training videos ?
😂 Like every kid at the pool. "Mom! Mom! Mom! Look what I can do!"
I think I would work for cuddles too.
She looks like a different horse after you have done your horse pilates on her...What a lovely session.
yes, right? this reallly helped her to feel better in her body. I find those exercises so beneficial
😂👍👍♥️♥️
So wise! To find the right reward for each horse!
so important to reward the horse! and yet, there are still so many people out there who say "he just has to listen, I am hte leader and he has to do if for me and not the reward" My only response would be: how would you enjoy working for your boss if your boss were like that?
This is so good! The more she learns in this low stress way the happier she will become and more eager to learn. ❤️❤️❤️
❤❤❤
❤❤
Key word..process ..time given to processing
She is such a gorgeous horse! So lovely to see young horses being trained with such empathy and understanding
Standing the drum up was clever. The horse thought about how to do that.
At 2:10 when you send her trotting straight into the wall before going sideways, is there a reason you didn’t ask for walk/woah or turns earlier (e.g. at a block/marker)? Is the aim to keep her sharp, or was it more like ‘we’re going to go sideways and if you don’t stop in time, that’s your problem’? Found the video series in general really helpful, and following another horse is a great way to start youngsters cantering :)
her energy was really up, I had never asked her to trot. I did cue her to slow down with my energy but she didn't follow. So instead of getting stronger on her, I directed her energy sideways along the wall. I let the wall do the job instead of correcting her for trotting when I didn't ask
She's so cute !❤
Just gotta say thank you! I bought your Black Friday package but haven’t opened it yet. But I have made leaps and bounds with my 15 year old mustang just from watching the small amount of videos I found of you. I have had him for 6 years, he was gelded 3 weeks before I brought him home and was not wanting to connect, and always reverting back to just run away when it’s too much. Now he stops and looks to me instead of bolting. ❤thank you 🤗
I love your process.
She is amazing. I literally watch her videos every night to fall asleep. Not only does she have incredible knowledge and an amazing technique, but she is also SO relaxing to listen to. Sometimes I get jealous of the horses and all of their massages lol
What great progress
Yes, right? She was such a pleasure and felt supernatural out on trail. no spook at all
Yes! Itd be like yelling at a chold for getting scared, it doesn't solve anything.
exactly. Why do people think it helps to yell at a scared horse
So you gave her positive reinforcement for spooking?
@@Not0a0City0Girl0 I reassured her!!!!
Poor girl getting a big spook like that. She did great thinking through and calming down. Beautiful horse <3
I always feel sorry when horses have such a heart attack spook. just like us when somebody scares us by jumping out behind a door for fun
Very nice such a kind way to train! Thank you!!!
thank you
Same as children
Love it Gaby! Thank you for showing. She acts like my Andalusian x friesian cross. Good to see how you respond to her reactions
Glad you found this helpful. It was very interesting to feel her this distracted in the arena with the other horse when usually she is so calm and connected
I learned from watching this for me to stay calm and clear with my communication. I tend to overthink 😮,oh no how can I help her feel safe. Now I grew in confidence to breathe, smile, and keep on communicating clear and focused🎉❤
What a great takeaway. More often than not, the solution lies and calmly repeating until the horse can relax. This session was a great example for this.
What do you do if the horse spooks intentionally, while training? My horse sometimes does that when we train and it wants to slack off or mostly test me.
horses don't spook on purpose. When horses are scared, tehy are scared.
Then my horse probably just makes fun of me.
@kristina79191 horses don't make fun of people
i totally get what you mean here!! if you don’t actively support the horse through a spook, it wont actively go to you when it spooks, and a spooked horse on the loose is not good for anyone involved
@@baototta exactly this!
Aww big spook no no blame ever ❤
Good observation, our little one did that too.
She looks like a horse that will "punishe" herself when something goes wrong. Very sensitive, needs a lot of affirmation, I think. I could be wrong of course.
You are totally right. Very sensitive. On top, she experienced abuse during pre-race training. That she found this level of relaxation was huge progress
How old is Fugita? I forget.
It's those pink blocks
horses see pink in a shade of brown. so no, its not the block and just before, she stopped and rested there. it was a chicken outside teh arena
It makes my heart so happy when my Filly, stretches and extends her neck and lowers her head at a walk and trot on line doing the circle game, or traveling circles seem to be her favorite ☺️. I have to remember these play sessions on days like this when testing her limits were first on her mind😂. All ended well with a lot of yawning off adrenaline. She will be 2 years old at end of February.
What a sweetheart !
Never seen a lead that attaches on the front like that. You must have your reasons.
I am using a cavesson here. a tool from classical dressage used for precise lunging and groundwork.
Seems to have developed a lot of trust in you.
yes, we had good teamwork. thanks
Love every step your journey with Gwayne ❤

I love how she comes to you for reassurance. Have you already tried riding? What would be the sign for you to get on?
