    Since the new firmware update, it screws up the filter button. It doesn't turn on automatically for nebulas like it used to and it turns on for galaxies. You have to stop the enhancing and turn it on manually or disconnect it manually for galaxies.

  • @heywardhall1489

    The latest update causes Seestar to never change the filter selection, just leaving it in the last used position. I rename the sub folder in between each panel recording to M31 Panel 1, M31 Panel 2, etc. Then when you start the next panel, Seestar will create a new sub folder called M31 sub. Likewise, when I'm finished with that panel, I'll rename it PRIOR to starting the next panel. I also do this for any "unknown" target because all unknown targets gets thrown into the same "unknown" sub folder. You can rename the sub folders by using a file manager on your phone or computer. Just connect the file manager to the Seestar, find the sub folder you want to rename, and change the name to anything you want. However, only do this once you're finished with that panel or target. If you change the name while Seestar is currently recording and saving subs, it will just create a new sub folder on the very next saved sub. Then when my night is over and I download my work, all the subs are already organized into their own appropriately named folder, no searching and sorting of files needed.

      @alhakimov5480 6 дней назад

      You can also do this based on time-stamp of each FITs file instead of doing during shots. As long as you write/note down exact timeframe before shooting the next panel. I stack multiple FITs based on time-frame too but haven't done any mosaic yet. Prolly I'll do that using _alp setup instead.

    The Seestar cannot rely on plate solving to find the moon. It must have an accurate level and compass. However, even compass calibration doesn’t always work because of minor local variations in magnetic declination (offset from true north) called magnetic deviation. In my particular location my local deviation is almost 5 degrees east of the regional declination of 14 degrees. Local Deviation can be caused by a number of things like powerlines, mineral deposits, or living next-door to Magneto. I never had any luck finding the moon and had to manually bring it to center. An alternative that others have reported and I have yet to attempt is to first use stargazing mode with horizontal calibration turned on and search for a guide star like Vega or Capella. Once it has figured out where it is, slew to the moon and switch to lunar mode. If the clouds ever clear I plan to give it a try. Of course that won’t help for daytime observations but it’s a start.

I’m using the same Seestar camera, but I’m not capturing nearly as much of the nebula. Your shot is stunning! I’m wondering if the lack of light pollution is giving you an advantage.

    Also, in case anyone is interested, MOON gotos still don't work as expected. Which means when you try to goto the moon, it doesn't work flawlessly like a goto to any other object. It will ask if the moon is centered while the moon is nowhere near the screen.

    • @bobcarn
      @bobcarn 22 дня назад

      Sun and Moon are always a problem. I think it's because the SeeStar only has a narrow field of view. With deep sky, it can tell from surrounding stars where it's pointing, but with the Moon and Sun, if it's not pointing at it, it can't easily see where exactly it's pointing. It seems to work best when you do a compass calibration and adjust the level to be as level as possible.

    I've been using the Sestar since Mid Nov'2023. I don't pay attention to the direction I have it pointed. I typically do a compass calibration if the Seestar says to and let it do its thing. It works. for the unit I have. Also if you have one of those revelers, those are a huge benefit, but after some use you need to place the whole thing on a level service and put the levers to neutralize or have it center.
