My last name is also Conn. I became a fan of his when i was a child because the name. As i got older I researched him more. Thats when i became a true fan. He was something special...... And he has a kick ass name haha.
Billy Conn said Harry Greb (also from Pittsburgh) was the best boxer he'd ever seen, that includes Ray Robinson and Henry Armstrong. I thought I'd only ever see him in black and white. A legend. As Roger Mayweather used to say 'most motherfcukers don't know siht about boxing'. Billy Conn was ahead on points when Joe Louis KO'd him. Close but no cigar. 😉 ruclips.net/video/CsTkPAl02FI/видео.html
Billy Conn was a legend. The book by Paul Kennedy is pretty informative but I wish there was alot more out there about him. He deserves to be remembered.
Old School Irish. A gentlemen yet still potent with his fists late in life. Crook probably never knew one of the best boxers of all time knocked the hell out of him.
Louis seemed to have trouble with alot of the smaller guys. Pastor, Conn, Schmeling (1st fight), Marciano (although Louis was 38 at the time.) He did better against the giants for some reason. (Carnera, both of the Baer's, Abe simon.)
@slippy people always claim this shit in comment sections and i'd like to believe its true but one time a kid in my class claimed he was related to einstein so idk
@@Suplex479 Conn was ahead 7-5, 7-4 on two judges cards and the third judge had it even going into the thirteenth. If he had kept doing what he was doing and boxed him on the outside, he most likely would've won a majority decision.
Jake Paul should see this interview Then he would know old fighters still have a punch😂

A great fighter. Even at 73, he still had it.
Way to go CHAMP,
Was he related to the Joyce Family ?
R.I.P. billy you were great!

Like to see Conn's fight with Fritzie Zivic, Duquesne Gardens 1936.

On his loss to Joe Louis the first time....what's the point of being Irish if you can't be stupid.
I'm a relative of BC..cool stuff

Middle Weight Bill Comb almost KOed Joe Louis..

I'm related to Billy on my mom's side of the family.

Billy is my all time favorite fighter. A master of the triple left hook, he gave the Brown Bomber his toughest title fight.
He should have beaten Louis....
If it had been a 12 round fight instead of 15 rounds it's almost guaranteed he would've taken the decision.
Billy Conn can deliver the same left hook punch as Cleveland Williams
@@afranks8566 conn only won rounds 3,4,8,9 and 12. People really exaggerate how successful he was in that fight

Conn...always a great fighter..a true Irishman
I remember this well.
All time great fighter. If only more of his fights were available on film, a true boxer
