Nahuatl Tlahtocan
США
Добавлен 11 июн 2020
Nahuatl Tlahtocan is a space for individuals who are interested in learning about Nahuatl language and culture. Nahuatl is a native Mexican language that was spoken by the Azteca people, such as the Mexica, prior to the Spanish Conquest and colonization. Today, Nahuatl is spoken by over 1.5 million people. Contrary to what many people might think, Nahuatl is a language and not a "dialecto" or dialect, although Nahuatl does have many dialects depending on what region the language is spoken in. I am not a native Nahuatl speaker but I have been studying the language for over 10 years. This channel will primarily focus on Classical Nahuatl. With that said, if you speak Nahuatl and notice that I have made a mistake somewhere, please feel free to correct me.
Nahuatl Tlahtocan was originally created as a student organization at San Francisco State University in 2017 but now lives on in this RUclips channel. Ximopanolti, welcome to Nahuatl Tlahtocan.

Where can I read more about the addition of the extra 1/4 of a day when starting the new year? And how would the tonalpohualli be kept aligned to the xiuhpohualli when adding that extra 1/4? Thank you!
So the Aztecs were intrepid warriors who moved into someone else´s land and founded a powerful empire, unlike the Spaniards who... also moved into someone else´s land and founded an empire? Also, when do you plan to mention the tens of thousands of human sacrifices the Aztecs did regularly until the Tlaxcaltecs got fed up and allied with the Spaniards to stop them?
Tlazohcamati for you, teaching very well Our mother language, regards from Chimalhuacán (place of scutums) Estado de México.
I been doing Spanish for four years and practicing nahuatl its not easy
Great channel brother!!!
I love your videos! You should check out the book Red Smoking Mirror by Nick Hunt, which revolves around the relationship between the Mexica and Muslims (and Jews) in an alternate history where the Caliphate of Al-Andalus didn't fall and it was Muslim traders, not Christian slavers, who "discovered" the Americas. Hunt presents both sides VERY well despite being neither Mexica or Muslim himself.
This guy is insane not many people do this. He is literally carrying history. Bro never stop doing this....this is important work. you are making history.
One question can someone get their Nahuatl name even at the age of 18?
I’d like to know how close the Nahuan branch of the Uto Aztecan language family is to the Numic branch Shoshone/Comanche.

What books would you recommend learning this I am of Aztec heritage !

Nahuatl has some similar sounds to Choctaw (which is distantly related to Maya). Are Nahuatl and Maya related?

The most powerful ruler in Nicaragua was Nahua, king Macuilmiquiztli. Proud of my Nahua heritage 💪🇳🇮
Thanks so much!
Xochitl here, I have a Nicaraguan friend whose name is Eztli, meeting him made me realize how influential Nahua culture was outside of Mexico. In Nicaragua and El Salvador it's the mainstream culture proving how dominant the Nahuas were and still are in those countries.
Duncan is a friend of mine. thanks for giving him a shout out

Fascinating video series. I am just a white person, but I don't like to mispronounce words, and I like to show respect to the indigenous cultures. I have been totally saying words that end with 'tl" wrong all my life! Thanks for teaching me the right way.
Preach tlatoani
It's interesting most people online seem not to speak Huasteca, which is what I'm learning. That's pretty cool though, cause I've picked up the stuff like Axkan from your intro lol. Love this channel, thank you for keeping these traditions alive and for having good politics!
