Courthouse Docket: Organized Womanhood
Very cool, thanks.
Congratulations Eddie Mack and the Mack family. Bearcats! (I graduated with Cathy)
I was lucky enough to watch Con pitch for the Seals.⚾️⚾️⚾️
I wear Seals T shirts and caps at Oracle Park more than Giants stuff. That statue is of a sea lion, not a harbor seal. The Seals were misnamed. The there was a one year 1946 Negro League team the Sea Lions in SF with a cub on their shirts.
My late uncle, Neal Sheraton, played for the SF SEALS. He passed away a few years ago ... but in his day, he was Golden. D.A.
what a time it was..
It's too bad that the Seals and other PCL teams were not given major league status back then, as they were just as good as the NL and AL at that time. Anyway, it also would have been cool if the Giants became the Seals and the Dodgers became the Angels when they moved. Why not? The Senators became the Twins and the expansion Senators became the Rangers.
I'm interested in researching the history of The Seals. Does anyone have a link to The Seals theme song or period Seals broadcasts?
My Dad Shortstop for the Seals 1950's
I grew uo in Alameda, across the bay from SF. When I was very young , my brother used to take me to Oakland Oaks games. (early '50s). When the Oaks were gone in 1955, I followed the SF Seala and went to lots of games at Seals Stadium, with my next door neighbor snd his son, my best ftiend. The PCL was a grest league, considered by many to be the "3rd major league". Players came there from major keague teams, snd would often be called back to the ML. SF was a Red Sox farm club, and I remember seeing them play against the Seals at the end of their spring training, seeing Ted Williams, Jackie Jensen, Ike Delock, Jimmy Piersall, Milt Bolling, among others. Great times, great baseball.
