@@jls1495 I’m using 60cm - ie white small. But I’m limited in ceiling height in my studio so can’t go bigger. But 60 is fine for my purposes

I would say that the quality of the footage is better, but mostly that's as a result of being able to attach a selection of existing modifiers I have already. If I wanted to do any fictional work, then they would be much better as you can better control the light to give the look you're after. The key point for me with interviews/youtube is that these lights are around 2.5x the power of my previous LED panels, which means I no longer need lights hovering really close, just out of frame. And if things are further away, it's all more even too. Thanks.

@@NickChurchPhotography thanks so much. Yeah. I think i will get one of these Godox lights one of these days. I could use it at wedding receptions and interviews. But the important component is the light diffusion. For now I'm waiting for a sale!! Take care

@@adamwestphoto I use 2 x 8800 in each. Have never run out yet. These batteries are 64Wh, so two of them will power an ML60bi at full power for 2 hours. In reality you're never at full power for most applications, so it will go all evening.

Thank you! It's 60w, so if you imagine a 60w lightbulb, then you're in the right ball-park. If you have two, then you can double the power output. This is about as powerful as you can get with battery power, and that battery power option is the main advantage here. If your shooting scenario is an interview etc where you can get the lights quite close to the subject (1-2m) and still be out of shot, then you'll be fine, even at low ISO. If you're doing a full body shot, then you will need them further away to ensure they are out of shot then you will need to let ISO increase a bit to compensate. But depending on your camera system, if it has dual-base ISO then then is not a major issue anyway.

Hi, sure. It’s because when you use flash you have two separate light sources: ambient and flash. They both work independently to create the lighting in the final image. You can reduce (push away) ambient light using a faster shutter speed, but this does not affect your flash intensity. So with flash you can make a room totally dark and just lit with flash. Continuous light is adding to/blending with your ambient light so can’t be separated (increase your shutter speed, and you reduce everything)

Hi - the final composite images is a creation in photoshop and there is no way to tell Lightroom to recreate it. What you need is Photoshop Actions, which let you automate aspects of the PS editing process. This will allow you to achieve something closer to what you need. Thanks man. I backup my cat to my external drive, which also contains my library. Then I duplicate that drive to another regularly. That way, anything happens to my computer or the drive connected to it, I’ve got all the images and a recent catalog. Images and cat are equally important. To change your backup location go to catalog settings and select ‘backup when LR next exits’. Then close LR and you’ll have the popup. This lets you change the destination to somewhere on an external drive. If you don’t use an external drive then just copy your lrcat file to somewhere else relatively often (every shoot most likely).

Hi Adriana. The web-app version that runs in a browser is limited in functionality. So yes, the app/programme that runs on your computer is different. If you have an Adobe cloud subscription you should be able to download the full app on any computer 👍🏼

Hi Peter, Sorry, this wasn't clear. I should have mentioned that when I dragged the mask at that point I'm holding down Option (Mac) or Command (PC) to copy the mask to the new layer, rather than move it. Cheers

At 7:50 you’re on the Develop tab and I can see all your presets loaded on the Left panel under Presets - I wonder if you actually did something to get those in this exported catalog other than put them in that preset folder that was included in the exported catalog folder on your desktop? If so, what were your steps?

Hi Nick, your videos are great, I’ve been a comment hog tonight on all of them. I sound really dumb above… I *do* back up my catalogs on every exit of LR. Where do you keep your back ups? PS - I actually came back to make a video request… you;’ve mentioned a couple times that you may want to sync a collection to LR CC to edit on the go, can you make a video on that? On how you go between LR CC and LR Classic? And how your presets work between the two (specifically how to get your same presets on to LR CC). Thanks again for the great videos!

Hi Sarah. Please comment away! Nice to know the videos are useful. Moving between Classic and CC is a pretty powerful workflow and a great idea for a tutorial. I have added to the list for the next set of vids 🙏

Some great observations in here Sarah. Yes there is a chance of corruption and yes I’m worried about it which is why you need a solid backup policy. I keep a copy of my Lightroom on my iMac, regularly backing up to cloud storage. I also have a regular backup going onto external drives. Keeping multiple versions in a variety of places is your insurance policy against severe data loss. Lightroom’s policy of automatically backing up in the main Lightroom folder is not ideal as theft or the drive going down takes all the backups as well as the main catalog. With catalogs in another location, if there’s a problem you simply copy the cat back to the original location and open it again… although actually you can open it from wherever you like, it’s best to move it back to the one original place to avoid confusion about which is the ‘current’ one. The issues above - none of them are solved with splitting a catalog. If you lose a catalog you go to a backup. If you have no backup then sure you would still have the older shoots in the other catalogs but you’ll still have lost the most valuable which is all the latest shoots which you may not have delivered. Splitting up catalogs gives a false sense of security in this way. It doesn’t solve any of the issues, in fact I think it adds to them. Because if your backup policy is a bit crap, then having loads of catalogs in multiple locations is probably going to be chaotic carnage and lots more data is at risk. Poor user management of data is the usual way things get lots, not fire or theft. Presets should move over really easily, so I can’t understand why this may be. You might have ‘keep presets in catalog’ option ticked which almost always does the wrong thing. These are really common issues which is why I cover all this in detail in my Lightroom zoom workshop, so do let me know if that’s ever if interest

OK I have some things to think about that might help me get to the bottom of why my catalogs become corrupt sometimes. I do have external back up drives, and back blaze and have a system in place. I love the advice on not using the default location for the LR back up. I don’t think I do, but just got a new laptop (M1) (because LR was loathe somely slow and my old MBP only had 8 GB RAM, and LR now recommends 16 GB RAM but LR is still not crazy fast -which brought me to your video in the first place! I digress, as always…)

@@NickChurchPhotography The volume control also reduces the volume of your voice... The balance if the 'background' music is way out. your voice is the background sound. That makes this (and many other videos) unwatchable for me. Sad. As for multiple catalogues; all my work targeted at botanic publication is kept entirely separate from all my other diverse general photography despite it including astro, landscape, engineering and family photography Robert

@@seapy2398 I will bear the music volume in mind for future videos. If you will never need to move images between your catalogs, or view them together then there is no major issue with having multiple catalogs. But, Lightroom is designed with many ways to allow you to separate these different streams of work. For example I have books that are fiction, and some reference manuals, some dictionaries etc etc. they live in the same bookcase. Multiple catalogs is like having different bookcases for each genre of books. Cheers
