Is long-term Newton Abbot resident 7029 Clun Castle present?
Lovely video, thank you. Now I can remember when there also was a BR station at New Romney!
The Romney Express ride at the RH&DR

I saw it a barry when I was young. Look at her now! Wow!!
What is the scale of these trains as compared to the regular sized ones?
15 " Gauge but 1/3rd scale I think
@@mattlander9119 Thanks for the info.
I remember it when I was a boy in the sixties and this is so lifelike it is amazing, well done great video.
So many questions. But I will keep it short. Who built and maintains the locomotives. You appear to have a lot of capital tied up in ways and works and buildings. How do you gain income is it a tourist railway run 3 or 4 times a year or is it an every day service The land it traverses seems open is it going to be built out and if so do you have a right of way. Overseas fan
Michael Naisbitt the railway was built in the 1920’s, along with the locos. A school train is run throughout the year on school days, and the rest of the year there is a pretty intensive service. Most works are carried out at the railway in house
Hi Michael, there was also an armoured train that ran in WW2, an armoured truck to the front the loco, which was also armoured and a 2nd armoured truck to the rear. I believe, and hopefully someone else with confirm or correct this, that it was armed with 2 Lewis machine guns and a boys anti tank rifle in each truck.
@@47606odin No, the school service stopped about 15 years ago.
Yay! Someone has modeled Newton Abbot! Lovely representation and brilliant video!
Please plaease when restored get rid of those shitty brass numbers !!
Top marks to everyone who has helped save this engine. I have seen pictures of it at Barry, waiting to die, now we see it not only restored but in for another 10 year overhaul. I know Tysley is probably normally off limits to visiting railway enthusiasts but I would sure like to see what some of what you have and what you do when I'm visiting the GWR region of the UK in August.
Although a steam enthusiast all my life, pretty much, I never knew about the Duke and its remarkable story until all the design faults had been diagnosed and mostly fixed. It is still more remarkable that The Duke has become, reputedly, the most powerful and efficient steam locomotive ever to run in Britain. I always thought the most powerful was the 'unsung hero' the 9F, but it seems the Duke was heavier, faster and more powerful, although with 6' 2" driving wheels, it probably couldn't start the 2,178 ton mineral train that 92203 hauled in preservation to make it a record breaker. Another locomotive that has always been one of my favourites is the Union Pacific class 4000 'Big Boy'and I got to see 4005 in Denver in 1988. Now, of course, UP are restoring 4014 to steam and I am considering going to the US in 2019 to see and ride behind it. Everyone knows of the awesome power of these beasts, but know little of the 'numbers' produced by our own 'biggest and best'. I don't know why, but the Duke outweighs the 9F by nearly 15 tons, yet 4014 is nearly four times heavier than the 9F, but only produces 3.4 times as much tractive effort. Of course 4014 completely dwarfs both 71000 and (say) 92203, being two feet wider and more than a yard higher than the Riddles designs. So, impressive though the Big Boy is, in every way, 71000 and 92203 can justifiably take their place as, pound for pound, two of the worlds most powerful locomotives.
havent heard those noise patterns in years
Wow what a great layout. Where is this layout can it be seen any time?
My first viewing attention to detail brilliantly done great camera work especially like the train sheds Trevor Slater
What a great looking layout
Very well done ! Nice to see the through line ,and the maltings in great detail
Wow excellent layout 1st time Ive seen this on u tube, super recording as well!
My first visit to your layout. What a magnificent layout and beautifully filmed. I have subscribed and look forward to more. Cheers, Bob
Hard hats?
Yep, that'll stop a heffing great boiler from injuring someone if it landed on them.
justandy333 and high vis !! Just in case 😂
Can't be too careful these days!
such a shame it was road hauled but probably kept costs down
Then we are delighted that you are part of the family and thank you for your support. You will have seen from the web site and news letters the steady progress we are making.
TRT1940 all this long time I had no idea that the Duke was getting overhauls
I think its about 2033 that duke of Gloucester to be back in steam and possibly back on the mainline mate
how long will boiler take to go back?
Work will take place simultaneously with other activities. The current plan is to have the Duke's overhaul completed by the end of 2018 early 2019 depending on the funds available and the work that requires to be carried out. If you would like to help us achieve the return of this unique locomotive at the earliest possible date then you can join the Duke family by going to www.theduke.uk.com/membership. Thank you.
i am already a member have been for a lot of years
What loco was that video taken behind at 06:10???
No.2 Northern Chief
The reason was that because its mainline approval ticket is out of date. Once the overhaul is complete it will be re-approved for mainline running.
What was the reason for the road transport?
Blimey! This is one amazing train! I love it!
A commendable filming location sir! namely a bar on a railway :) Very good upload and most enjoyable.
World's smallest functioning bar car on the World's smallest public railway.
What scale is this railway
15 inch Gauge
Thanks
The locos are 15 inch gauge, but built to 1/3 scale
truly brilliant machines thank you for posting
Good film i enjoyed it!
The Golden Age of Steam not forgotten. In fact it's alive and very well in Kent at this wonderful Railway. Thank you for a wonderful Video and a return visit to the Kent of my childhood.
There are not very many of us about.
:-) haha. So I not the only one to say I am an Ferroequinologist.
Thanks for your comments. We are a small group of steam railway enthusiasts who meet monthly and organise various visits during the year. If you check we periodically post video's of some of our visits on you tube as you will have seen from my you tube site. Glad you enjoyed it.
My life is better knowing that there is a Ferroequinologist society. Accepting any applications from America?
I'm glad you enjoyed our day out on the R H & D Chris.
Thank you for a great video,I love this railway so enjoyed every minute. Thanks again for sharing.Regards.Chris.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. It is always pleasant to have nice memories recalled.
Great video enjoyed it immensely took me back to the early eighties when I visited the railway with my dad.

Superb layout liked and subscribed
What beautiful scenary. Youve obviously worked really hard on this superb looking layout and its paid off. Love it!
Excellent work sir!
Thanks for your kind comments. The availability of the Camtruck opens up many options to show the model from new and unusual angles.
I came across this by pure chance, and boy am i glad.....what a wonderful model railway you have created, even tho born and bred in the south east of England you have captured the south west brilliantly....Fantastic
Thanks for your comments Mike. I feel its probably time to call it a day as I have covered most of the angles that are possible to do justice to.
Thanks Bruce I will give some thought to the next Production, Regards, Trevor
