Read the comments and to be honest - i prefer to park infront of the broken down vehicle and walk back and put out the cones for 100yds . Rational is that i'm at the broken down vehicle for 2 mins and working for 10 mins and having the broken down vehicle between me and any sleepy joe heading onto the hard shoulder is the best option . Lot more drugged up twats driving around than back in the early 90's when i started out with Green Flag and training needs to be updated to reflect the modern dangers . Not good having you in the van as the first thing anyone's going to hit as they think there's a rave with all the flashing lights and they head straight for it - better to have an empty customers car between you with the customer at the side of your van out of harms way .

Went past a tyre fitter on o/s trailer tyre on a long two lane motorway slip road,only his cones protecting him,being in antic,I slowed down hazards on,straddled the two lanes,and he gave me a thumbs up,idiots were still plowing down at silly speeds.Stay safe Greg.

You Parked Too Close to the Vehicle,appreciate u have the Air line length to consider....Your Van Totally Parked the Wrong Way ....Wheels should be pointing to the Verge side...as you had it ..if you got a hit .your Van goes Straight to the Live Lanes. Make sure People are behind Barrier ,but looked deep in Nettles..very least to the N/S of their Vehicle. Have a Refs Whistle to give them...as your Working and they see a Potential Issue, rather than come to you ,Whistle from where they are. No New Valve Replacement?. Refit the Wheel Studs Opposite the last one you Started with. Good to see they were Torqued up

Probably too late but you could always find out when your A&E is least busy or contact your GP - they usually have a nurse who can do first aid/splinting, etc.
