『雛の悟り | The Chick Realized』は、コウノトリの「雛の間引き行動」を題材にしたアニメーション作品です。「雛の間引き行動」とは、複数の雛の中で最も弱い個体を、親鳥が巣から落としたり、飲み込んだりなどして死なせる行動のことです。これは、残った雛に十分な餌を与えて、巣立つ可能性を高めるための、自然に起こりうる行動であり、主にコウノトリが行うことで知られています。
この作品で、雛がエサをもらえないこと、自分が間引き行動の対象になったこと、そしてこの世界がシミュレーションであることを次々と「悟る」過程を表現しました。
決して、コウノトリや他の鳥類に対する嫌悪感や憎しみを持っているわけではありません。私は鳥が本当に大好きで、鳥を心から愛しています。この映像作品には、一般の方や他の鳥好きの方を不快にさせる意図は全くありません。間引き行動は確かに残酷に見えるかもしれませんが、これは自然界における生存競争の一環であることを、どうか理解していただきたいと思います。この作品で、皆々様方がこういった側面に少しでも関心を持っていただけると幸いです。

It's interesting how they made the decision in the Japanese version to never update the sound effects to higher quality versions. They still sound like they came out of the GBA, probably because they did originally. It's less noticable on the sounds used in GS1, but the sound effects from the other two games are _really_ noticable.
