This channel is dedicated to helping other student pilots learn how to perform the calculations necessary to pass the FAA Private Pilot Written exam. When I studied for the exam I could not find step by step instructions as to how to solve the problems, so I decided to create these instructions and share them with other students.
Using Worksheet to answer Question 8-47 step by step
We already covered this question in another video, but here I use it as
an example as to how to use the Density Altitude Worksheet I created.
Find the numbers and put them through the worksheet and you'll come up
with the right answer every time.

Density Alititued (Pressure Altitiude) Worksheet
Просмотров 8 тыс.9 лет назад
Even if you know exactly NOTHING about Density Altitude, Pressure Altitude, Altimeters, or Pressure Altitude Converstion Factors you can still get the answer right on the test. This of course doesn't mean you shouldn't learn about all the above in detail, but this worksheet will help take the pressure off of you on the test. -Alan Feller

With only a few weeks self study I was able to score a 97 on the FAA Private Pilot Exam. I will show you how to study for the test. How to focus like a laser beam on the test. You will know more and retain more than those who "brute force" through it but with far less effort and confusion. - Dr. Alan Feller May 2015

That creepy looking device with the wheels and the sliding card may seem intimidating, but it's really easy to use. For the test you will use it to find just TWO variables: In "Flight Time" questions you will always be finding GROUND SPEED In " Heading" questions you will always be finding WIND CORRECTION. Follow my step by step instructions the same way every time and you will always get the c...

I’ve found that true internalization comes from experience. You memorize and drill material to pass these tests but it only makes sense to you once you encounter it in the real world…once you’ve been using TAFs for a while in a practical setting, once your brain gets used to operating under Coordinated Universal Time in your local environment for a while, once you’ve entered on the 45 at numerous airports after glancing down at the wind sock/circle, etc. Theory and memorization only get you so far. Experience is what ultimately makes sense of this type of information.
Its not an intro!,!,!,!!!!!😡
That’s WAC
Please how do i get this material, i have aviation exam next week 😢

If the temperature is at standard shouldn’t the density altitude be the same as pressure altitude since density altitude is pressure altitude correct for non standard temperature.
2023 I got a 82% on my written private pilot test. Went through gleim. Thank you Allen. I followed your advice.
Great video!
I had to click on this video because of the title. You stating you got a 97% on your exam just made me laugh. It also says this video was from 8 years ago which I believe because about four years ago a private company has taken over all computer tests and they are refusing to publish the newer questions. So, now this video of yours is totally not current. No one today will get a 97% on there test because the test has changed and the company who is writing the questions are not publishing the tests. I know a lot about this because I have taken a LOT of these tests. Just go look at the FAA Airman registry for my name and you will see some of what I am qualified for. What you will not see there is my 40 years experience as a pilot and as an examiner or that I am a Gold seal and Master CFI. So, I know a little bit about what I am talking about. You saying at the beginning of this video that you are a "Doctor" made me laugh because you guys are the ones that normally kill yourself in some high performance aircraft because you have more money than brains. As a professional pilot I have met a lot of doctors and lawyers who think they are decent pilots and I quickly show them just how stupid they are. So drop the "Doctor" anytime you are talking to a "Real" pilot. All that means to us is that you will soon Ki!! yourself in an aircraft accident.
By the time I calculated this in flight, I'd have gotten there already. Haha!
I know you posted this a while ago but are you still helping get past their test
good work however you don't explain why the division and multiplication are a constant ie E and F
It IS a shortcut, but it's NOT cheating.
I’m studying for my PPL and I just wanted to say you’re a fantastic teacher you make everything super simple and easy to understand thank you.
Does this Work for all types of interpellation ?
Long Island !
Will this work for interpolating landing role? , or any graph ? I’m having a hard time with the graphs if I need to interpolate. Thank you for this video. Mike KLZU
Thank you ! 🙏🏻
Different scales for Sectional charts vs Terminal Area Charts.
Can I bring your flight time sheet into the testing facility?
Thank you for your advice Dr. Feller.
Thanks Doc. I’m in tje same boat. I have two grandsons who are future pilots and it’s costi g me a ‘pretty penny’ for hem and I so appreciate your efforts. Dr. Tom
What version is your Jeppesen test guide. My question 8-47 doesn't match up to yours at all. Probably why this is so confusing and complicated for me.
So confusing
So I should forget about using my new E6B or could it be easier with it?
Hi Alan can I ask what is the name of this examination book that you are explaining thank you with my appreciation..
Thanku !
Thanku Dr Feller, I’m currently studying for my FAA Flight Test… this was very helpful !
Where can I find those tools that you have?
I love this explanation! Thank you!
Myself I use the full ASA kit including e6b and I use sportys online courses as well as youtube channels and apply a combination of all tools for my ppl with goal too get my AtP goal
Thanx. More please

I made a 95
Thanks for posting
Thank you for talking slow
Why cut it
I can't believe you only have 10k views
Hi Alan, hope you doing good. I’m a new follower currently a student pilot. I looked over your Chanel you have t posted for so long I hope you good. Also thanks you because as I just started I really try to give to understand everything from that study guide even how the altimeter works that there is air going through the static port and as we climb we experienced low pressure therefore low air entering the static port will cause the capsule to expande….. That’s how I was trying to understand but it takes times and age to understand big explanation behind it. But as you said using that studying guide will build a knowledgeable framework in your mind and therefore becoming really knowledgeable on the subject. Thank you that was really the video that answer my questions.
You would never pass the test, you would run out of time. ;)
I didn’t score 100%, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.
How do you interpolate between just two numbers? For example, 157 knots and 160 knots, the book says it’s 158 , what’s an easy formula for that?
Taking my test this morning!
THE DR. ALAN FELLER METHOD
Hi Thank you so much for this video! Though I got using the plotter, a distance of 50 nautical mile. My final answer, was 51 minutes. That is closer to 52, then to 48. According to the answers, I got it wrong. Can you please explain, how you got your distance 60 kt, vs 50 what I got?
Hi Using my plotter, I got the distance a bit less than 50 nautical miles. The true course, I got 12 points as well. How do you get 60 nautical miles?
I knew I recognized you! Unfortunately that means i suffer from hair loss :( That's so cool your a pilot! I'm getting my PPL as well.. this video helped me alot and your explanations on previous videos as well.. thank you!
There's no such time as 24:45..
