We have this same engine in our 2020 QX50 and have never had any problems with it. It's a 2.0-liter, turbocharged, variable compression ratio (VCR) engine that was first introduced in 2019, and even though the oil keeps the turbo charger lubricated and cooled (besides lubricating the engine) the air to water heat exchanger does a good job of keeping oil below 230°. No matter how hard you push the motor.

So happy for the countries of Botswana and Namibia. They get to produce light sweet crude to help the world transition to electrification without having to pay $10 to $20 dollars a gallon at the pump. Of course the world is still much farther off than people think as far as transition time. But we are making a good push to get there. Also Namibia gets to help in green energy also with uranium mines to fuel nuclear power a carbon free baseload energy of the future. The main thing is that the infrastructure will get many upgrades. Roads, bridges, cell towers, internet, electricity, clean water. Recon Africa is a small JV Oil explorer from what I read and is not a super major like Exxon, BP, or Shell. It has a limited budget right now. But has already started to drill water wells for some locals and more planned. Has donated a nice amount of money for Covid 19 vaccine immunization rollout in Namibia. Has invested a lot in its own ESG plan. Partnered with the Official National Oil run company of Namibia. This will go a far way to making sure many Namibians are getting employed. Hope all environmental and animal people can work constructively with the Government and Recon Africa to cause the least impact an maximize the gains for the population now. It is good that the Government has said no fracking(unconventional) oil which is more risky and Recon has agreed. They will pursue conventional oil stored in trap or pockets and extract that and not force the oil out of the source rock which carries greater risk to water tables. So far the first two test wells show great promise for conventional oil.. Which will likely last several decades 10 20 30 years and hopefully when that easy to extract oil is gone the world will be much farther transitioned to electrification. Oil that was found in Texas in 1920's was extracted many decades conventionally before fracking(unconventional) was needed to get the last remaining oil out of the ground.

We are in a climate and ecological emergency, we cannot afford to burn the existing reserves and keep within 1.5 degrees global heating. We need to be reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 7.6 percent year on year this decade (UNEP: www.unenvironment.org/news-and-stories/press-release/cut-global-emissions-76-percent-every-year-next-decade-meet-15degc). To develop this reserve is to knowingly kill people and an one of the few remaining wild ecosystems. These things are priceless. Please check your conscience. Excellent session. On the last question I think service companies in particular need to adapt and focus on their strengths. For example if hardware is a company’s thing but the client typically buys softwares/solutions and the software delivery is pretty average I would encourage those companys to find partners who specialise so that they can always deliver a top end solution that brings the best value. In this market for its even more important than ever to be a cut above the rest. Regards, Michael

Some stuff is not adding up. Recon Africa claims it's not fracking but the investor presentations from a year ago (even a few months ago) tell a different story. p. 16 of the presentation below clearly states that the company plans to frack and undertake horizontal drilling. These presentations have been taken off the company's website ever since journalists and others started digging. Care to explain this little detail? It is always the most ignorant who have the most to say!

Quote: ReconAfrica VP of drilling Nick Steinsberger September 2020: " The geologists chose the first site on an edge of the basin that is being uplifted. There should be traps with potential conventional plays as well as some deeper shales. The second well is a straight shale test, drilled through the shale section to see what’s there. The third well will be in a different area but similar to the first--some potential traps, potential conventional targets, and shale again. So we are looking for different things. But the basin is so big you could drill exploratory holes for years and continue to find potential targets"

Any alteration or pollution of this ground would destroy basic livelihoods in the area and have far reaching affects on the environment, water management (which is a scare resource in Namibia) and tourism in the surrounding area. Honestly, for all the reasons you mentioned above, this development will help native Namibians. Recon has committed to producing fresh water wells for much needed drinking water. The import of petrol for Namibian currently is extremely expensive and gas prices are high. This would allow potentially free gas, huge economic income from exports and energy for the community. Jobs. Obviously nobody wants a disaster so I hope they do everything in power as a preventative standpoint.

This is an ideal example of a supportive network that is a true interactive community ... committed to sharing ideas and answers to really help their industry. There is no room for competition, control, or ego. Very inspiring!
