I think i might actually have to use this technique tomorrow. Great video, excellent mad science! (but watch it at 1.5x and pause at critical moments)

If you wanted to demo the nac circuit completely, would you need to deprogram at the panel first then tear it out

You would need to find the end of line resistor and place it across the terminals for that circuit, then the wire can be removed if needed.

Couldnt they just kill the circuit at the panel and then let us remove the circuit and devices?@@IsaacCoverstone

How would this apply to SLC devices if it isn't too much trouble could you elaborate on that please

@Joseph Williams with SLC, it isn't really necessary to troubleshoot this way, since the panel knows the status of all the devices. The reason you troubleshoot NACs this way is because they aren't smart devices.

Great solution! Would the nurse call brand happen to be Dukane by any chance?

Nope. Name doesn't ring a bell. These had a big green call button, a battery that trickle charged from the dial tone voltage, two zones for wired devices.

Dukane never used 66 blocks. Only system I have came across with 66 blocks was super old Executone system. Any time I came across crazy issues like that, I would just say time for an upgrade. As you mentioned, the amount of hours and labor it takes to resolve that issue, could have been spent on a new system. Anyhow, thanks for the video, nurse call techs are a small community and any info is great info. Not a lot of people to bounce ideas off of.

@@SteveO3232 Yes, I should clarify that the 66 blocks were just the buildings phone system. This nurse call system didn't necessarily require them to function. I believe it was all torn out a few years after this incident, they were spending a lot of money for constant weird stuff that needed service time.

How about a Rauland Responder 4 system where various nurse station consoles alarm as if a high alert device is activated but it says nothing on the display. Only way to silence it is by unplugging the console. Then it works normally until another console on the network does the same thing. On a different floor.

You should Meter the NAC while it's Disconnected from the panel.
