I appreciate this video being posted, we have a gas stove at the house I work and none of us could figure out how to get it started until we found this video!
Hi Kurt! Worked at KFP for 15 years with Pat and John. Miss you too Edward and Kip!
Thank you, Great guide explanation..The music was a bit of a distraction for me .
So would you leave it on pilot or on? Until ready to turn on by remote..
Once you are able to remove your finger from the knob and the pilot stays lit, you know that the pilot is going to continue to operate. The next step would be to press the knob in a little bit and turn it to the "On" position. Now the valve is in the standby mode and ready to resume normal operation.
@@LopiNorthAmericasFavoriteFire when I turn my to on it actually lights it’s not in a standby mode does that mean it’s not working correctly.. I was also told my retailer the same thing. But it doesn’t seem to work that way. Another issue I have is when I do light it I get a blue flame and in about 30 seconds it goes out and the pilot goes out very frustrating.
Can this be used wirh propane
Yes, the Lopi Northfield can be converted to operate on liquid propane. If you purchase the Standing Pilot (Millivolt) version, everything you need for the conversion is included with the stove. If you purchase the Deluxe version, an additionally purchased stepper motor is required for the conversion. More information can be found here: www.lopistoves.com/product/northfield-radiant-mv/ We encourage you to speak with a dealer for more information tailored to your specific needs. www.lopistoves.com/where-to-buy/

Is it safe to burn a wood stove that close to a window?
Love my Lopi stove. Far exceeded my expectations. Installed last year.
Would this stove be good for a 1600sqft cape?
Yes, the Rockport will heat up to 2000 square feet. The refreshed NexGen-Hybrid™ model qualifies for a 30% tax credit up to $2,000. Also, there is a sale running until June 2nd on all Lopi products. www.lopistoves.com/product/rockport-nexgen-hybrid/
Wood Burner for 17 years. Lopi is the best you can buy.
I do my research, I am 70 years old and have used wood stoves for 53 years. Lopi are the absolute best hands down the best brand I've ever seen.
You guys should really make at least one cast iron wood stove that is larger than the Rockport. I’m having a house built next year with over 2300 square feet and the Rockport simply isn’t big enough. I hate steel stoves. Looks like I’m going to have to choose between either a Vermont Castings, Hearthstone and Blaze King cast iron stove. You’re losing customers.
I do my research on products. Fireplace Xtrordinair and Lopi products are the best Wood, Gas and Pellet stoves I've ever owned. I have seen the competition and have never seen anything close to a match of this company's quality and innovation. Take it from me, I have been a satisfied customer for over 35 years. I could go on, but folks... Get the most of your dollar investment and by locally. God Bless.
It's impossible to find a price on these things. lol.. I guess I'll just build one. It's super simple

Why was the Cape Cod discontinued?
Are the stoves non catalytic stoves?
These new NexGen-Hybrid units have a catalytic combustor, but we do still have many non-catalytic options.
I purchased the Evergreen back in 2022. I love it. I am so grateful that I researched wood stoves before purchasing. The only thing I have issues with it that smoke still comes out from time to time when I have the by pass damper fully open. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I use my wood stove all the time during the cold seasons. Fall, Winter and spring time. Love the feeling of the warmth from the wood stove. So relaxing.
Thank you for choosing Lopi! We are grateful to have you as a customer. If you have not already, we recommend you review the owners manual. It contains many helpful tips and tricks for operating your appliance that you might not have thought of. The manual can be found under the documents tab on the website for your product www.lopistoves.com/product/evergreen-nexgen-hybrid/ If you are having trouble with smoke entering the room during startup, try burning a piece of newspaper to establish a draft. If the flame is not getting enough air, opening the door a crack is all that is needed. If you are having trouble with smoke entering the room while reloading, ensure the air control is open in addition to the bypass before attempting to reload. Let the air stabilize before opening the door. Then open the door one inch to allow air to enter the firebox for a few seconds. Once the smoke is flowing up the chimney consistently, open the door fully. Chimney height and outside conditions can negatively affect draft. Adding more piping or a draft-inducing chimney cap may help.
Yes. I do have the manual, and I have read through it. It says "To open the door a small amount and let air enter the firebox to equalize the pressure, and then open the door fully." As soon as I open it up a small amount I can see the smoke coming out. Maybe there is too much smoke in there since I use fatwood or maybe I am opening it up too much. I don't know. . My Niece's husband was over, and he said his did the same thing. They do not have an Evergreen.
My wife and I are having a new house built and getting a Lopi Rockport installed.
Nice! The Rockport NexGen-Hybrid™ qualifies for the 30% tax credit up to $2,000!
Can it be installed in a Heatilator?
There are new regulations that determine which products can be installed in zero clearance applications. Some of our products do meet the requirements and some don't. Speak with a dealer to find out more information and what unit is right for you www.lopistoves.com/where-to-buy/
Always wondered why high temp sealed capillary heat pipes that can move a lot of heat were not used in wood stoves to capture heat lost up the chimney and bring it into the room with a hidden (behind the wood stove façade) finned radiator. Of course, adding a fan for some forced convection on the radiator would move even more. Or move the heat into a mass of phase change heat transfer material where it could be slowly released during the night. I believe a while back, a stove manuf. in Europe somewhere was experimenting with a phase change heat transfer material in the double walled stove. Seem it took forever for the hot water solar industry to catch on to using sealed capillary heat pipes for solar panels. But now, it's what is used. There are very high temp. ones also. They move a ton of heat. (Without them built into the Alaska oil pipeline supports , the permafrost would melt. Of course, very tiny ones are used in modern computers to move heat from the electronics and prevent overheating).
Very impressive! If you come out with a cookstove, I'm in! I just love a wood cookstove, but the new one we just put in is one hungry, almost insatiable machine. We are delighted with the one we just put in to replace our wood burning fireplace that lost so much heat up the chimney. Now we are very, very warm and cozy. If I could just have the efficiency and control you just demonstrated to lower the wood use in a conventional/contemporary cookstove, I'd buy one.
Hello! Thank you for watching! We actually do have several products that allow you to cook on top of them. The Evergreen wood insert offers a modest cook top that protrudes out from the face of the hearth www.lopistoves.com/product/evergreen-nexgen-hybrid-insert/ It also includes the same NexGen-Hybrid™ Technology that is demonstrated in this video, giving you fine control over the burn rate. Additionally, several of our freestanding wood stoves feature a nice sized cooktop. The Liberty wood stove is the largest and although it does not yet include NexGen-Hybrid™ Technology, it still offers a burn rate control www.lopistoves.com/product/liberty-nexgen-fyre/ The Endeavor wood stove is slightly smaller compared to the Liberty, but includes NexGen-Hybrid™ Technology as well as a cooktop www.lopistoves.com/product/endeavor-nexgen-hybrid/
I have two liberties. One in my 4600sq ft home and one in my 6700 sq ft outbuilding with 18’ ceilings. The liberty can keep both warm even when its -15 outside with -40 wind chills. We had just those temps this winter and it kept the outbuilding between 55 and 60 all by itself and the house can easily stay 70. I also heated up chili on it :). It isn’t the primary heat source for either but it is such a pleasure to burn with I light it every time i go to the outbuilding.
We have one of these and love it.

I just had this insert put into our old fireplace box about a year ago. It is a wonderful product. I have the exact model that is being demonstrated.
About 25 years ago I worked for a Lopi retailer in northern Minnesota. Lopi was the best stove on the market then, and by the looks of it, they still are. Very impressive.
Im interested in a small efficient feestanding woodstove for a 16' by 24' off grid 4 season camp. Im moving to my northern rainforest permanently in 2024. No rent or mortgage..less than $1k a year in taxes. No traffic, just the sound of the brook running, the Ravens talking, and the wind blowing thru the gorge. I wouldnt trade this cabin for a milti million dollar home...anywhere. Purity, peace, saftey and freedom, a commodity approaching extinction. Its not an easy lifestyle, but a healthy one. Ill have no need to plan for an end of life in an old folks home, stagnating away the days. Heart is where the home is. I'll be there til the last beat of my heart, surrounded by beauty.
Off grid living is a noble lifestyle. Our smallest freestanding wood stove is the Lopi Answer www.lopistoves.com/product/answer-nexgen-fyre/ Get in touch with a dealer near you for a quote www.lopistoves.com/where-to-buy/
@@LopiNorthAmericasFavoriteFire thank you nice little stove..very nice to see you incorperated an ash draw under the firebox. A big plus. Ill look into buying a lopi.
Build this and they will come: Free standing stove that extracts the heat from the outside of the stove with a forced air flow system that mimics an insert. All the heat around the firebox needs to be moved into the room. Passive systems are inadequate. I have a quadra-fire with the fan unit. It blows 95% of the air along the back of the unit, and 5% on the left side. Zero air on the right and top. So I get active air movement (and heat transfer into the room) from less than 20% of the unit.
HOW expensive is the stove that is the largest you sell ??? Thanks

If you were to learn "woodstove lever technology", you too could enjoy a stove that you would be much happier with. Hopefully you know how the replay choice works and levers will sink in after however many views that takes you.
Our Lopi wood stove is 33 years old and works like a charm! They had the secondary burn back then, not the ceramic though. I can usually refire in the morning with leftover embers. Quality equipment!
Still... it remains a Poor alternate to a Gas fueled Insert.
Many people prefer the control and self sustainability of a wood stove. That being said, we do offer many Gas fueled stoves and fireplace inserts in our lineup. www.lopistoves.com/
wood can be free gas is not!
you know when the powers out, and your super efficient gas appliance doesn’t work. you’d be wishing for one that burns wood. or when the gas company raises the price just because 😂
Other way around, sport. Wood is king.
Yeah wouldn't trade my wood stove for the newest and best gas stove. I enjoy the whole wood process.
they all burn nice like that with the 12-15% moisture content wood that your burning
The importance of burning dry wood cannot be overstated!
@@LopiNorthAmericasFavoriteFire right, but you didnt state it at all in the video..with the price of firewood these days im all about conserving and getting the most heat out of wood, but getting dry wood is next to impossible unless your lucky enough to have a supplier that kiln drys their wood..And if you burn all winter long i think on average you need about 4 cords of wood per season..if the wood is not seasoned then you need to have a place to stack 8 -12 cords of wood some you can have enough time to dry the wood yourself and be a season or two ahead..some species and locations it takes 2 years to season to 20% moisture..20% is still on the high side for for cat and secondary burn stoves..buying and installing a new stove is the easy part..getting good wood is hard!!
Sure it is a challenge, but one that is worth taking on. We have a video regarding moisture content in wood and how to use a moisture meter here ruclips.net/video/88T4JvNjhFc/видео.html It's likely redundant information for an experienced individual like yourself but wanted to share anyway.
The flame comes on fine. I can see the icons (fan, lights, etc.) Problem is that when I hit the fan option, the toggle button does not work and I can't adjust the fan up or down. Same with the light option. I can't get the lights to come on or dim. The toggle button is not working. Also, same problem with flames. Toggle button does not adjust the flames. Any suggestions?
It's hard to say without knowing the details of your particular situation / installation. It is recommended that you reach out to the dealer that installed your product for assistance. Additionally, the owners manual and other resources are available online. www.lopistoves.com/
I don't understand what is the difference between this and any other modern catalytic stove? Everything decent has air control like this.
Generally, our products have a broader range of BTUs than other products of similar size and technologies. Meaning you can have a lower burn at the low setting and a higher burn at the high setting. This gives you finer control over your fire.
Why have a little tool to work the levers that can get misplaced? Just have it so you won't get burned without it.
It would need to stick out too far or be more complex. My fireplace has long bypass handle and I sometimes bang my head on it when loading it and sometimes get caught on the handle when standing near it. So they’ve made a choice, though an imperfect one, but the other way would be imperfect as well (because of redesign needs, and cost issues).
@@GMC-qo9xi my wood stove has long handles with a spring on the end that protects you from getting burned and I never whack my head.
@@stoneyswolf do you have a bypass? When you open a bypass with a handle that won’t burn (mine is wood-same size as the coil kind you are talking about), it ends up sticking out 8” from the face. Mine could be shortened about an inch and still work, but still when it’s open it’s way out there.
I get the same paper effect with a US Stove. I keep a layer of ash in there, the secondary buring, and a tight door seal. When I put paper in there it takes a while to burn as well. So... what's the actual difference? I do like the rear suction port. That seams helpful.
I think they’ve plumbed in a bit more secondary air than some stoves, and increased the air control to a lower potential (which is great for when you load up the stove) and have a catalytic burner… even though description makes it seem like it’s not a catalytic stove, he mentioned a ceramic coated grate that burn gasses. It also would likely have an automatic dampener to reduce the air once the coil on the dampener heats up… (which helps prevent over firing an unattended stove).
We are combining the power of NexGen-Fyre® and Catalytic technologies to form the NexGen-Hybrid™ technology. This gives you amazing secondary air burns, as well as the efficiency and emissions benefits of a catalytic combustor. In general, our products have a broader range of BTUs than other products of similar size and technologies. Meaning you can have a lower burn at the low setting and a higher burn at the high setting. This gives you finer control over your fire.
But this is nothing new on the market, just new for your product line.
@@treaser2 but what about the NexGen-Hybrid Technology™? Doesn’t that make you want to upgrade to have then newest and best??? lol… jk
@@treaser2 sorry forgot to include the power of the NexGen-“Fyre®” technology! (If that doesn’t make you drool, then i guess you are beyond help…) 🤨
My Xtrordiniar is 20 years old and still works awesome.
I have a ~10 year old Lopi insert that does not have a blower - I put a small fan near it blowing across the stove. If you open the door slowly, little to no smoke comes out. I have a very poorly insulated 1960s vintage, two story house of about 1800 sq ft. The fireplace is on the lower level and when it's 0F outside the upstairs far end of the upstairs living room is ~67F, using only the Lopi for heat. Of course the fireplace room will be 90F or maybe even a bit higher. I mostly burn pine because I get all I want for free,. If run the Lopi real hot for 15-20 minutes every third fire or so, very little creosote builds up in the flue and I have a ~20 foot stainless steel, single wall flue inside the old chimney and have never had to clean it out, only the wire mesh spark arrestor cap on the top, every other year or so. Unless you want to restoke your stove at 3AM, get some hardwood for the overnight burn. GREAT stoves, even for the price which is notably more expensive than the lessor performing ones.
Nice, but why put the draft control at the bottom, after carrying wood a fellow doesn't feel like bending that low every time I want to adjust the draft. For 4 grand I don't want to bend that far haha.
Why do you think it’s there? (Since it’s an insert there’s little to no room to spare for the required contraption to be on one side… as it requires a rod with moving joints or chain and pulley system to be tucked in there to get to the dampener which needs to be where that lever is at the bottom. Point being that the decision is based on simplicity… ie. form follows function. The more complexity that is introduced the more problems while arise over time not to mention initial expense. Whereas you could use your own poker to operate it while standing…. Whether or not you need to drill a little hole or tweak some little thing is up to you to decide what will work best for your needs. Simple enough, no?)
