Hi Bro. Thank you for your commenting. :) The preset is actually taken from the soundset 'Ultimate Analog Collection' from @stefanodaino (see Video description). Did not do much editing on the sound. Feels wrong to me sharing patches that I have purchased and not created by myself - especially when they are being sold by their original creator.

The aftertouch (and keybed in general) are quite ok. I didn't expect any miracles.. and so I was not disappointed. There are better Keybeds though.. Its not Hydrasynth Level but still very usable, once you get a bit used to it.

Yes. Multiple Operators and distortion. If it was clever, I don't know. Im not an FM expert at all. Just startet out with a preset and went by ear. Came out quite nicely :)

Hefty price tag? $1200 for a 16 voice, polyphonic aftertouch beast of an analog synth, let alone a copy of the legendary OBXa is CHEAP! I've had mine for a while now and it is worth 3 times as much.

@@BigHairyCrank while I’m not a fan of Behringer’s amps and mixers etc, their cloned synths are solid. Had my Poly D for years and it has been flawless. The UBXa has so far been the same. Best Aftertouch action I’ve ever felt on a synth. Much better deal than spending $5000 on an OBX8, and I got to try one.

@@BigHairyCrank have you tried it? I’ve played professionally for decades and it is a very expressive keybed for soloing

But, like many things, it’s all subjective. What one person likes another despises. Buy one, try it out and return it if you don’t care for it. The keybed is actually better than the Nord Wave 2 and A1 Lead which I spent a lot of time playing

@@BigHairyCrank the Poly D doesn’t have a nice “snappy” action like. JP8000 or something, but a Mini Moog wasn’t snappy either. The thing I like about the UBXa feel is that you actually feel a bit of resistance when you about about to pass down through into the aftertouch zone. The Prophet 5 or Arturia controllers don’t do that, they just trigger aftertouch. I don’t have any problems ripping on the UBXa and triggering the aftertouch. You can alter the “deadzone” and if that doesn’t work just practice getting used to the action. All keyboards feel differently, you just have to adapt your playing style for what music you are playing and what keyboard you are playing. I wouldn’t try doing B3 palm swipes on a Steinway for example

What do you want to do? If you're into playing big, analogue ambient synth chords, yes.

@ppp-zt9hf maybe you could also check out the Deepmind 12 (if you wanna get a behringer). It maybe more versatile for somebody who gets his first synth (and it has effects on board). The Ub-xa has that very specific vintage vibe and is great for big warm pads or 80s brass stuff. If you want that kind of late 70s early 80s sound, the UB is perfect (but no effects included - you may get also a reverb or delay pedal). Also check out the Korg stuff.. king korg or minilogue xd, they are also sweet machines to start with.

And Hydrasynth of course.

@@ppp-zt9hf I would not recommend this as a “first” synth. It has a bit of a learning curve even if you are knowledgeable about subtractive synthesis. The manual is not very informative at all and is taking me some deep diving to figure out some of the more mundane features this synth has. It is extremely programmable and can do amazing things, I feel like I’m in a research lab when I’m trying to just assign aftertouch to a patch
