Hi, I'm ZXRyuu! This channel is primarily composed of videos of my friends and I goofing off playing games. We enjoy playing games together and I've always enjoyed recording video, so I thought, why not combine the two; and this is the result! I hope you enjoy our videos!

Hello 👋🏽 I have a Sony Trinitron that has component inputs. Question: Doesn't component automatically convert to rgb? If not, do i need to use the retrotink comp2rgb?
Hello! I have a couple questions for you. Are you using a consumer CRT or a PVM? If it's a PVM, it may have RGB/Component inputs on the back and you don't need to do any conversion. My PVM 1342Q only has RGB inputs, so I have to convert the Component input to RGB so that it's compatible. If it's a Consumer CRT with Component inputs, you would need to get the RGB2COMP transcoder instead so you can take RGB from a console and then transcode it to work on the Component inputs on the Consumer CRT.
@ZXRyuu oh, okay. Yes, I have a trinitron consumer set. It's a KV-27FS17 model.
So if you're looking for an easy way to take RGB SCART from a console and convert it to Component for use with your CRT, then the RGB2COMP is the transcoder you should get.
@ZXRyuu actually the other way around. I want to convert component to rgb.
Hmm, maybe I need to understand more about what you're trying to do, because I thought that TV already had a component input? Are you trying to output component from the TV and convert that component output to RGB or am I way off?
Yes you do have a cool pvm
Thank you! It's one of my favorite pieces of retro tech. Do you have a CRT of any kind?
@@ZXRyuuI have like a baby normal composite CRT. I play most old games on my monitor with the OSSC but ps2 is the exception since it doesn't play well with BOB deinterlacing. I'm looking for a good 1280x1024p vga CRT monitor but I keep backing out of it. I'm afraid of spending $100+ online and then finding one for a fiver at Goodwill.
Howdy, me again! Loving the Re:Coded tunes, by the way. Thanks again for bringing this tutorial to my attention, I just was curious as to what splitter you're using to simultaneously display on your CRT and HD monitor.
Hello again! Heheh, thanks; glad you recognized the tunes! KH whoop whoop! I am using an Extron Crosspoint with RGB Cables. One is BNC to BNC (for my PVM) and one is BNC to DB-15 (VGA) so I can connect it to my Dell monitor. I connect the PS1 and the PS2 to my Extron Crosspoint with a custom SCART to BNC cable from Wookieewin on eBay.
Thank you so much for this, God bless!
Thank you! God bless you too!
There was a least one swollen cap on the motherboard. On the left side of the CPU 2nd from the bottom.
Oh really? I should definitely look into that. Thank you for mentioning that!
@@ZXRyuu I'm not saying 100%. But from the video it looks sus as heck. Although it's pretty old video, maybe you don't even own it anymore?
I actually do still have it, so I'll be sure to check out the sus as heck capacitor just to make sure it's okay and/or replace it.

Hello! I have a HDD containing a taito typex+ ROM. In order to boot from it with an emulator, is it possible to simply copy the internal data and load it into the emulator? Do I have to convert it to a special format?
From what I understand, from several different communities, the games have to be put in a specific format to run properly in an emulator. The most experience I have is with Tetris the Grandmaster and those emulator files were extracted and converted by people who are way smarter than me, haha!
@@ZXRyuu thanks!
No worries! Sorry I couldn't be more help.
I'm not a native english speaker so i don't understand everything in your vidéo (god you speak so fast). So i still have a question; does this COMP2RGB downscales any component signals to RGB 480 interlaced ? never to 480P ?
I did notice that I was talking fast in my earlier videos, I've since slowed down. 👍🏻. The COMP2RGB doesn't do any kind of downscaling or upscaling. It's simply a transcoder to take a Component signal and convert it to an RGB signal. So if you are passing 480i Component, you'll get 480i RGB or if you're passing 480p Component, you'll get 480p RGB. Make sense?
@@ZXRyuu Yes thank you
😓 "PromoSM"
I'm curious if you can swap out the hard drive for a Windows or Linux build and run any PC game on it like an arcade game the user made.
You know; that is an excellent question. My guess would be if you have the drivers to run all of the hardware in the Type X, it should be possible. But this isn't something I've remotely looked at. The Type X program does run inside of Windows XP Embedded, so it does stand to reason that it's possible.
@@ZXRyuu I know that the Sega ALLS is also a PC and there's videos of people installing Windows on it so it should probably be possible with the Taito Type X (4 would be perferable).
Huh, that's cool! Yeah, you would probably want an X4 just so that you could have the best possibility of running more than just the native games.
What the hell is a Reeyou? Are you trying to say Ryu?
I mean, there are different ways to pronounce Ryu, but I'm using Ryuu "りゅう" "竜" as Dragon, not the Street Fighter character, which can be pronounced differently. Does that explanation make sense?
hi, i will record retro game 2024 with framemeister and scanlines ... i read that framemeister use yuv 4-2-2 and i don't find the perfekt card.. please could you help me ? all Consols run with RGB Mod in 60hz and i use the Firebrandx profiels 720p with scanlines but the scanlines and the colores looks bad. all card i found runs with Yuv 4-2-0 and i need 4-2-2 i think
Hello! What is your budget? After I know that, I can give you some recommendations.
Hello, I just bought an external hard drive from aliexpress and I am unable to boot into the program Taito type x3. Once external hdd is connected to pc it detects it and you can see all files. However when I go into bios to boot from it, the hdd does not show up in the list, how to make it so that it shows up so I can boot into it? Thank you.
Hey there! Arcade machines are pretty picky. If you copied the data from your X3 directly to an external Hard Drive, you probably won't get that to boot. Many of the Taito files are locked to a specific drive with some serial numbers and can't boot unless the serial numbers match. The data can be copied to another drive, but not executed, in most cases. The arcade community hasn't been able to figure that one out, as far as I know, anyway. Does that answer your question, or have I misunderstood what you're trying to do? Also, sorry it took me 2 weeks to respond to your question.
Nice run brother!
Thank you so much! I definitely felt much better about this run, compared to the other attempts.
Great video! I was just wondering about this over the summer but didn't want to commit to buying a Japanese region ps2
Thank you so much! Yeah, I kept thinking that using a Japanese PS2 was the only option as well; so I'm super happy that we have other options with some, now available, tools!
Man what a great time rewatching this! Loved commenting for this!
Heck yeah, man! It was great to have everyone join in that year; made it even more fun.
This is such a Very Good Video Tutorial, I always wanted to know how to Install the BB Navigator and how to Install games aswell. I hope you do more videos about the PlayStation BB Navigator 🙏🏻
Thank you so much! I will definitely make more videos on the BB Navigator when I have the time. I'm working on another project at the moment.
What can you do with the BB Navigator plus the optional driver updates?
Thanks for commenting! I will need to look into this some more to figure out what all is possible. I wasn't sure if there was any interest in that topic, but I threw it out there in case there was. Stay tuned!
Can't you just Hit Alt-F4 since its running Windows XP... Also for the error it's advised to purchase a pack of inexpensive CR2032 Cells
I usually just press F2 to skip past the battery error message; I'm not sure if Alt-F4 does anything on that screen. The Taito Type X doesn't actually use a CR2032 battery, it uses a CR2450 battery instead. I bought one from console5.com, but I haven't changed it yet because it requires desoldering the battery from the motherboard and then resoldering. I'll be getting to this pretty soon though, because I've gotten some soldering experience recently.
@@ZXRyuu strange, that must mean it is a rechargeable cell, other things you can try are Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up task manager or even better still, seeing if there are any pins on the motherboard for a switch which will tell windows to shut down.
I definitely need to get back and reevaluate everything with my Type X. I've been slowly working through my consoles to fix them up or do any other work that they need. The Type X is up right after I region mod my N64. I'll try to remember to follow up with you after I have a chance to look into this further.
@@ZXRyuu that would be amazing, most windows Based arcades running 7 and higher can normally be exited out of especially the Namco ES3

Me too! It's somewhat different than Chrono Trigger, but still a fantastic game, overall. I'll be releasing Part 8 of this series in about a week.
Very good content!
Thanks so much! Appreciate it!
How does XB/GC SCART through the tink transcoder compare to XB/GC SCART raw? Both consoles will do SCART without the COMP2RGB transcoder. Does it improve the signal over SCART from the 2 consoles if they were hooked up raw?
I want to say that hooking it up with no transcoding would be better. I've found that I get better image quality when my setup is as simple as possible. I use the COMP2RGB, because I have to for my equipment, but if you don't need it; I wouldn't add it.
@ZXRyuu thanks, when I asked others about this they gave me a non-answer. You're the first to give a satisfying answer.
Awesome! I'm glad to hear that. And that's interesting, because you're not the first person to say that. Seems like a lot of people are getting non-answers about things related to this device. I'm here to help!
I saw a comment saying it doesn't do the PAL TO NTSC or NTSC to PAL Conversion. How can I play my NTSC GameCube for example on a Sony Triniton 14 CRT which is PAL but can also do NTSC as it has compatibility
Correct; the COMP2RGB is strictly a transcoder, it doesn't do NTSC to PAL conversion or vice-versa. Off the top of my head, you'll probably want to look into the Swiss Homebrew Utility for Game Cube. This program gives some video output options that might work in your case. I have not done any kind of NTSC or PAL conversion as I've never needed to myself, but I think it would be a good place to start for you. If you can run Swiss, let me know how things are going and I can try to help you out if you're still running into issues.
@@ZXRyuu if the TV however has NTSC compabitlity, then the transcoder should technically work right? It's very confusing.
If the TV has NTSC support then it should work. I'm guessing this would function in much the same way that multi format PVMs do. Again, without having the ability to test this myself, I'm guessing. It should work, but I'm not 100% sure.
I really enjoyed this video! YT ranking services > 'Promo sm'!!
You're very welcome!
Dude thanks for sharing love to see beard was in this too!
Heck yeah! There's several videos around featuring the Beard, formerly Spike, haha!
Hello, any email contact please :)
I'm not sure what you mean. You can ask questions here.
Hello. I have a question. Sorry if you already answered it in your video but here goes: I have a Sony trinitron 21" and I live in Sweden and it has scart inputs. So there is no way to connect a component cable to it other than with the comp2rgb. Do you think it will give me 480p using this adapter/converter? I'm not sure if the tv can support it or not. I mean also, is it worth buying in your opinion? I'm reffering to the Wii.
Hello! The COMP2RGB Transcoder does support 480p video. Do you have a model number for your Sony Trinitron? That will be best way to find out if it supports 480p or not.
@@ZXRyuu Ok. It's the following model: KV-21C5E
@@ESEJESEJ Based on what I can tell from researching that model, it looks like it will only support 480i. So, you could convert the Component signal to RGB, but you will also need a Male SCART to SCART cable to go from the COMP2RGB to the SCART input on the back of the TV. Just for clarification, are you using an NTSC Wii or are you using a PAL Wii, because the COMP2RGB won't do the NTSC to PAL conversion, it is a 1-to-1 Input-Output (PAL to PAL, NTSC to NTSC).
@@ZXRyuu Alright, thanks for your research. I'm using a PAL Wii. And right now I'm using a supposedly Rgb scart cable which goes directly between the wii and the tv. However, the "PAL 60hz" display option in the wii menu is as high as I can go, which I guess is 480i? (Hence why I wonder if the comp2rgb will make a difference in my case?) When connecting other consoles such as Sega and Snes, the tv actually says that the input is RGB, but this is not the case with the wii.
@@ESEJESEJ Sure, no worries. Yeah, I'm guessing that your display can't do anything higher than 480i, so whether or not it's running Component or RGB is probably a wash at this point. If SCART is easier in your setup, just save yourself some money and stick with it rather than getting another box to transcode one signal to the other.
How...how do I get this or the second one i know its very hard and difficult but its a goal i want
Well, there are several place to check, but probably the best place is the TGM Discord's Marketplace Channel. Here's a link: discord.gg/6Gf2awJ. When you get in, @ me (ZXRyuu) and I'll help you out if you get lost.

"May I ask if the video and sound are output from the supergun to the screen, and the sound is output from the supergun speaker, right? Thank you" Correct! All video and sound is run out of the SuperGun to the TV. At the moment, I'm using Component (Green, Blue, Red [Video], White, Red [Audio]) for my hookup.
@@ZXRyuu 謝謝!

Komachi = Infinite from anything, haha!
Hi there. Is it possible with COMP2RGB get480p through RGB on a PAL Wii??, I ask this because it only outputs 480i through RGB and 480p through component. I use a crt TV Panasonic compatible with Scart RGB 480p/60hz
Hello! I actually don't know for sure. Since my PVM only goes up to 480i I don't know that I have a good way to test that particular scenario. I use component, myself, for the Wii and GameCube; I've never tried RGB for either of them. Upon further research, it looks like you would need some kind of mod for this, either the WiiDual, GCHD-MKII or some other type of RGB mod to go beyond 480i. There are options, but I don't think this is possible out of the box.
Do u have a link we're I can purchase this taito
Thanks for checking out the video! I was following a website called coinopexpress, but they don't seem to have any X Systems right at the moment, but I believe you can email them for special orders. The other place for purchase seems to be mostly through eBay sellers, currently.
@@ZXRyuu ok thanks does it come with all the games inside
X System games are run off of individual hard drives. One hard drive contains one game and requires a matching usb security key. I don't know of any methods for loading the entire library of games onto a hard drive and booting it, because there are very specific requirements for even running a Taito Type X game to begin with.
So cool bro, keep it up!!
Thanks! X6 Ultimate Armor is a tough category! I'll practice some more when I can get some more time, heheh. Thanks for checking out the video!
How do you view this scene in game?
I'm not remembering for sure, but I think that scene plays either when you get the ending called Our Planet's Dream, or you lose to Final Lavos; I'm not sure which.
@@ZXRyuu oh ok, probably Our Planet's Dream then since I died to Lavos yesterday and didn't get it.
I did some more looking and it looks like you may need to play through the game twice to get this. First on Normal then on New Game+. Information is sparse on this, because it seems like just getting it through unlockables is what most people do, rather than getting it in-game. I suppose, if you end up getting all the endings, you'll definitely see it in one of them, haha!
@@ZXRyuu perfect, I was setting up a NG+ so my little siblings can try it out anyways lol
Nice! I'm always excited to hear about new people playing Chrono Trigger; it's so good!
Does psx change work for all ps1 games?
As far as I know, it does. It, for sure, works with NTSC games, but I don't know about PAL as I don't have any PAL games to test. You might also want to check out FreePSXBoot. It does, pretty much, the same thing as PSX-Change, but runs from a Memory Card with no system modification required.
You know, any S-Video breakout can be adapted to BNC without expensive or rare adapters… like the one for Commodore 64 monitors. Just toss on a couple RCA to BNC adapters and you are golden. You could also just splice one together yourself. Easy!
That's a great thought; I didn't even consider that at all when I was first making this video! Certainly is cheaper to do that, than the one method I suggested. Thanks for commenting!
@@ZXRyuu No problem. I believe that Console5 offers a cheap one for connecting 4-pin S-Video to Commodore 1701 or 1702 monitors with RCA input. With a couple cheap RCA to BNC adapters, you’ve made it into an Extron Crosspoint S-Video adapter. ;) Speaking of “cheap” and “Extron,” I’m gearing up to offer unfinished Extron cables to solve the issue with adapters and custom cables being too expensive. I got 1,000 feet of Extron MHR cable, a bunch of Phoenix-style screw terminal connectors for audio, the crimp tool, hundreds of Extron MHR BNC connectors, square ferrules with their appropriate crimp tool, and various plug ends for consoles. I’ll basically cut various lengths of Extron MHR cable and crimp the BNCs and square ferrules onto one end and install the audio connector. I’ll then bundle them with the appropriate console plugs for the end user to finish themselves (solder into the connector). This way I can sell a set of 10 cables for a fraction the price of the folks selling finished custom cables. Really makes Extron the value king for people who aren’t just buying a bunch of expensive g-whatever switchers and SCART/HD Retrovision cables. ;)
Nice! I just found the page and marked it for later. I probably need to update some of my videos to reflect some of the things I've learned since making them. That would super helpful! I'm glad that more people are making custom cables to help fill in the gaps creating by retro gaming and tech! Maybe we can do a collaboration or something in future when you launch your line of cables.
Random time to ask this buut you gonna get and play strive?
We could probably do that. I believe one of my friends has it, so we could try to make a plan to play and stream it in the near future.
@@ZXRyuu ooo ok cool thanks 👍
Just a quick update. After talking with my crew, we've scheduled your request for August because of some things happening between now and then. Be sure to check back on RUclips and Twitch for that!
@@ZXRyuu cool i will
Well, August came and went and I haven't heard anything from my crew regarding Strive, so I will need to check back with them and figure out what happened. Just wanted to update you.
Despite some things being missed, it's nice to see a group of people actually try out this series. It's usually either joke playing or outright dismissal and disgust. A shame but that's kind of how it goes sadly, especially for the more niche fighters not developed by Arc System Works.
Thanks for the comment! Yeah, we definitely didn't play this game exhaustively, because we didn't have too much time, and I'm not up on the game like I used to be, but we all enjoyed it! We definitely like playing a wide range of games and do enjoy a lot of games. Thanks for checking out the video! Any other games you'd be interested in seeing?
Oh, that's alright. If anything, this is one of those games where it's fine to not take an exhaustive look since there's just too much to get into for a quick hands-on preview. At least you guys got to the point of finding out that arcana offer their own specials, that's usually good enough. Anyway, I'm not too keen on giving recommendations but might as well since you asked. If you're interested in trying something odd, I suppose "Chaos Code" is a safe bet if you've never tried it. That's a niche fighter that could use some more love.
Alright; thanks so much!
That was incredibly helpful Thanks!!!
Awesome! You are welcome!
One modification I recommend to anyone using a Type-X at home: Change the fans of the case, CPU and PSU so something far more modern and quieter. The original Type-X fans sound like the system is taking off on boot and you can get it to be near-silent with some new fans. You could also swap the PSU out for better power efficiency yet it's not ATX so you may want to look elsewhere.
Hey; thanks for the suggestions! The Type X fan noise does get kinda irritating after a while, heheh. Do you have any suggestions for specific parts that either you've used or are thinking about using?
@@ZXRyuu You'll want two 80mm fans (Be Quiet and Noctua are good choices) and a 70mm fan (unfortunately 70mm is a bit obscure so you'd have to search for a good off-brand product. Though a brand like aabcooling or spire should work fine.)
Nice! I'll have to check out those options; thank you!
Quick question. I have a MAS Super Nova supergun and a Capcom IO. Will I be able to run a Type X2 on it? I see you have a MK30 adcap (mad jealous) so it definitely has to work on superguns
Hello! I will give you my best guess since I can't test a MAS Super Nova for myself. I want to say yes, because the X2 would connect to the Capcom I/O in much the same way that the Type X does. Then you would just connect the JAMMA Harness of the Super Nova to the Capcom I/O. From what I understand, Jasen of Jasen's Customs is working on a redesign for the MK30 but I have no idea when it's coming out. If the X2 doesn't work on your Super Nova, let me know and we can troubleshoot it. I don't have an X2 (I have considered getting one, but they are too pricey for me at the moment), but they are similar enough that we should be able to figure something out.
@@ZXRyuu Worth a shot. I got a Taito Vewlix if all else fails, but I wanted to test it on my supergun first. Also, where did you hear that he's making a new Adcap? I thought he stopped making them. I might have to get a preorder for it since it takes USB controllers.
Oh, nice; that's cool! Sure; if it does or doesn't work out, let me know. 👍🏻. I actually just contacted Jasen on Twitter and asked him directly and he said that he was designing a new one. You'll probably want to contact him as well regarding it, because his website is down right now.
@@ZXRyuu intredasting. I'll have to contact him, I tested the Adcap at a tourney years ago and loved it. Felt good to play Third Strike on Mixbox with it.
Update: I bought a Type X2 and am trying to use it on my setup. The damn thing just power cycles over and over, and has rolling picture + two screens. Must be due to the monitor refresh rate. I've tried adjusting my voltage but so far, nothing. Barely can even get into the attract mode for SSF4AE. I'm pulling my hair out over this. Any suggestions?
Great Video hope you soon get many subs.
Thanks! I'm just having fun and I hope people enjoy the ride with me!
Cheers mate. I needed this, not much info on type x around! Keep em coming
You are welcome! I'm still researching some stuff, but don't quite have enough for a video yet; but I'm gettin' there, haha!
link to the phoenix audio adapters? great video btw =)
Whoops! Forgot to put that in the video description. Here you go! www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/STEREO-SOUND-RCA-PHONO-TO-PHOENIX-5-WAY-ADAPTER-FOR-EXTRON-MATRIX-300-SWITCH
