Great tips for us beginners

I love the ornaments in the Shire theme and seeing how folks put their own spin on them.

It is definitely a pleasure to see you perform. It's like a short guide or review on the instrument. And I can confirm that this whistle sounds heavenly and really comfortable to play. I own exactly the same whistle for 10 years maybe. It is my first and only. Back in the days i really liked the band eluveitie and decided to buy myself a whistle. The shopkeeper adviced me when I asked him which i should pick if i want the most authentic Irish whistle. Never was i disappointed 😊

Very helpful tutorial! I especially like the jig and reel exercises with this tutorial, as they help build the technique with all the notes along the scale, up and down. This is great practice to form muscle memory!

What is the model and brand ?

As a raw beginner I found it really helpful to start with the absolutely basic things like blowing. Following on with tonguing, and then the tonguing for "Star of the County Down" was a really good progression. These videos are a great resource. Thanks Bojan.

Great videos. I was just wondering if slide direction matters. I was always told to slide the finger up the whistle, not across, as slowly opening the hole from bottom to top creates a smoother "slide". It makes sense, but I find both ways work (in fact, horizontal is easier and your fingers don't get tangled). I think I'm going back to horizontal (just convinced myself from your video!).

These are excellent tutorials for learning the tin whistle. I never knew how to play a slide before I watched Tutorial #4 and Tutorial #5 on Slides Techniques. Thank you for this amazing collection of lessons!

Really appreciated this primer on ornamentation. Cuts and taps are really what makes a whistle sound like a whistle.

Great video! I have one question: Why is it that some people / books play / show the high D with all fingers closed and others with the index finger up? I hear only a very slight difference if any. Is it just personal preference or does it really matter? Thanks!!!

This is probably the best exercise video on rolls I've found. I followed it up to the slow temp for basic roll technique. I will continue this lesson in my daily workouts.

My name is Jane and have found your videos to be so easy and informative. I'm a senior and still a beginner, but with your beginning lessons, I can now do and practice , taps, rolls, slides etc... that i couldn't figure out before without, slowing down the videos and watch carefully the finger movements. I quit playing for that reason. I Love the short music tabs to practice on. Makes practicing fun and I'm having a blast now actually leaning and improving the more i practice. Thanks Bojan and your site "learn tin whistle"))

Hey! I think your video is reversed right? in the edit? Or do you play with left hand in the botton and right hand on top? because i thought it was the opposite i didnt know know this and figured it was wrong one year after i already learnt by myself now im just stuck with left hand bottom right hand top
