A Wonderful performance! Bravo to Ilya and the Orchestra! Such a young pianist playing a very difficult concerto so beautifully! I must admit that, starting at 15:19, I have rarely heard this terrifying part of cadenza (to some pianists) so spectacularly played where there is no blurring. But it is hard for me to choose from among the vast number of Russian pianists, man or female. They all seem so perfect, each with her or his style! And it seems to me that being Russian gives them an added benefit of interpreting Tchaikovsky's music perhaps as Tchaikovsky meant it.

Incredible performance, one of the greatest Petrushaks live in competitions. There are some cleaner performances, but they always dial back and try to save energy leading up to the leaps. Very rare to see someone play this piece at 100% risk-taking and intensity like this. Few if any pianists will leave everything out there like this.

Really nicely done at 15:25. One of I think the most difficult passages in all of classical piano. I think he even tops Howard Shelley's interpretation, which I'd consider the only other one to really get the moment. It's like a delicate czech crystal you have to balance on the tip of your pinky. Many people including some of the best pianists in the world just crunch through this part and completely drop the point. Very well done

An amazingly powerful ad beautiful performance of Op. 72. Thanks! I must admit Ilya's performance of Chant Elegiac is perhaps the best I have heard in a long while. It's all in the virtuosity of control of timing and phrasing for such difficult pieces, IMO.

Same here! It’s one of the most emotive moments in music. The second movement as a whole makes me imagine someone struggling with the fact that they will die soon and all the various emotions that they experience, especially when they first find out they are gravely ill. Two of my family members recently found out they have cancer which has already spread to many of their other organs, one of whom has decided to end their cancer treatment as it hasn’t been effective for several months. They are both in dark places, not wanting any visitors at this time. Makes me wonder what it must feel like

A Tchaikovsky le gustaba tocar fugas de Bach al piano aunque él no le concedía a Bach el genio que otros proclamaban.

Wonderful performance. Terrible camera work - the pianist is the star, not hopping around to the instrumentalists when he is playing the most intricate and powerful sections of the piece! Please! You didn't even focus on him in the finale, and after he finished! Please! And why no takes on his face from across the piano - so revealing for the performers interpretation.
