You got to listen to the original and then come back to this one. These guys have some talent but are too much focused on showing up. Their music is light. Drums guitar and bass are light, the sounds are wrong. The voice is good, maybe they are just focusing on the singer's voice? Listen to the original and this one is dead.

being a 56 yr old child of this era, you guys are on the right path. My 2¢, way too OPEN, pull down the guitar(s) and simplify effects to a good plate reverb, a touch of flanger, and leave the middle open for vocals. Crank UP the base, play it straight (D, A, G) crank up a dry kick and snare to get that drive going and push the vocals harder. You have it in you brother, let it out! cheers!
