Fort Funston/Ocean Beach walk (4k)

Fort Funston is a former military defense area located in Southeast San Francisco. It is now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It is a dog owner's paradise. Fisherman love it, but it's not safe for swimming - as there are undertows and riptides. Some of the cement battery defense locations still exist - others have fallen from their perches and have been slowly decaying. This wa...
Palace of Fine Arts, Crissy Field Walk (4k)

This was a walk on November 7, 2021. I started at the Palace of Fine Arts (originally built as a temporary structure for the 915 Panama-Pacific Exposition). From there I continue to Crissy Field. In 1924 The first successful dawn-to-dusk transcontinental flight across the United States ended at Crissy Field. Additionally, the army's first aerial circumnavigation of the world stopped there that ...
Duboce Park, Hayes Valley, Alamo Square (Painted Ladies) Walk 4K
Просмотров 2132 года назад
For this walk I walked from the Corona Heights area down through Duboce Park, then through the bustling Hayes Valley are to City Hall. From there I retraced part of the route back to Alamo Square Park and the Painted Ladies - finally ending at the McKinley monument in the Golden Gate Park Panhandle. Shot this on Halloween afternoon - which explains some of the visual oddities.
Mt Olympus Corona Heights Walk 4K

One of my favorite neighborhood walks, starting in Buena Vista Park, traveling through Ashbury Heights, stopping at Mount Olympus with its grand views of the Pacific, and finishing with the panoramic city views of Corona Heights. General hiking map: goo.gl/maps/51bCNkV99CqJusFZA

    Its certainly not lively and prosperous like Miami Beach , Washington D.C. or SF in the 1980's.

      Lol, what are you people even talking about? You can plainly see in the video that the city is full of people. He goes from a quiet residential area to downtown and into another quiet residential area. Again, watch the video. There's a ton of people in the tourist hotspots and fewer people in the bedroom communities. Why do you people have to make up crap about San Francisco? What is up with this crazy right wing propaganda campaign?

    • @M13x13M
      @M13x13M Год назад

      @@TohaBgood2 I thought so too until I moved and saw how vibrant other cities are now and then I remembered how SF once was. The "quiet" residential area he started out is THE CASTRO. It used to be a gay mecca but even the Castro theater is closed and they built wood lean to shacks on the streets which are now filthy with graffiti and the remaining shops are vandalized every night. Don't even think of locking a bike up..I had 5 bikes stolen and two cars. It is not just mom and pop stores that are boarded up, the big guys are gone as well, like Google, Old navy, Nordstroms.

    • @TohaBgood2
      @TohaBgood2 Год назад

      @@M13x13M Dude, what are you even talking about? I understand that you're trying to justify to yourself why you moved and that you haven't made a giant mistake. But look at the video!!! Where do you see any of that? Where? You can't just believe whatever you like with zero regard for facts. That's brain rot!

      @M13x13M Год назад

      @@TohaBgood2 - I used my bike to get around town. My best bike was stolen at noon chained up in front of SFMOMA on Sunday! Maybe you did not notice but most of the stores are boarded up. I ended up having to drive to the nearest stores in Daly City to buy stuff or use Amazon. 60% of the time The BART was delayed because there would be an incident at a station. They had to close the station next to the Main Library because it had incidents 24/7 . What was the point living in the city and paying $8k in property taxes ? Besides my kids moved away to cities that are vital. Compare Chicago's Miracle mile to Market street... you can't. At least there were not lines to get into restaurants anymore. But When I left they were closing at 8:30 rather than 10 PM. Food was mediocre cuz chefs, servers etc have moved away. It is also unbearable to watch people shoplifting and SF allows people to sell stolen goods on Mission and 24 th in the open. The stuff from Walgreens still have stickers saying this item has been stolen. Horrible tragedy happened last month when a friends neighbor's kid was shot in a drive by and now is crippled for life. At least I lived in a safeish neighborhood Bernal heights. But we had a lot of amazon package thief. Search NASA scientist Glitter bombs for the run down on that.

      Mark, the Castro Theatre was closed for the pandemic and has since reopened, though under new management. The day I shot this was during the Outside Lands music festival in Golden Gate Park. You can also see that it was amazing weather - which usually means people head to the park or to the beach. I can assure you that the Castro is alive and kicking. What you are referring to as "wood lean-to shacks" are actually parklets that were approved for restaurants during the pandemic so that people could eat and drink outside. People still love them, which is why many haven't been removed - though businesses are now charged a fee by the City since they take up parking areas. San Francisco is far from "filthy with graffiti" as business owners are responsible for removing any graffiti on their property in a timely manner - or they will be fined. Also, Google still has several offices in San Francisco - they occupy a large portion of the old Hills Brothers Coffee building (goo.gl/maps/XE4EqZwPeMZe7uCa7).

    Did anyone catch their breath at the gas prices at the beginning? 😄

    • @MrLarryQ
      @MrLarryQ Год назад

      that intersection is notoriously expensive for gas-- the tourists get ripped off there, and a lot of locals too. Not much competition in that area unfortunately, and the even non-Chevron 'discount' station was $4.77 / gal. It's $5.00 / gal even in the outer / suburban neighborhoods as I type this. Thanks for doing the walk, it's nice to counter some of the hype that Market street is a complete wasteland now. It's not good, don't get me wrong, but dystopia isn't here yet.

    Hey friends! I tried something new with this one, the camera is mostly mounted on a backpack. Mixed success. Halfway through I made a pitstop at the gigantic and impressive Venus statue (around 8th Street) but when I tilted up, I apparently didn't tilt far enough - as I cut the head off. If you are ever in that area it is a most impressive statue. Mostly I wanted to shoot this video to show people what the common streets of San Francisco are like. As you can see, it's not a post-apocalyptic Mad Max. I was slightly surprised at a lot of the construction that is happening along the way. and as always - feel free to adjust your RUclips speed to make this walk more quickly. (4k is still processing, but may have been completed by the time you see this).

    Wow great memories of the HAIGHT ... I was one of those Haight st kids who somehow made it out of the SF vortex ... a lot never did ... heroine addiction run rampant ... also spent way too much time in the TL and the MISSION lived the street life and made it out ... NOW a hard working proud father of a 25 yr old college graduate .... I've come so far from those days and as ugly as some of it was there was a beauty in it that somehow is responsible for making me the man I am today because I ENDURED it and survived of that makes any sense...

    Awesome. Thoughts. Light ethereal music softly playing. Jazz contemporary, easy listening, mellow moods. Nothing to cover the ambience. Just to supplement the mood. Also. Challenge. Film moods of the city with these walks creating enough footage to cascade a music video over the Moody Blues Days of Future Passed. Would take some doing...but let the city direct itself to make it happen. 6 months of shooting. A couple months editing. Could be ready by Holidays 2022....
