Can understand quirks as they are simply a lark, entertainment and humour. I worked in London for a posh outfit but nicked toilet rolls from the loo and my well to Do USA wife loved nicking hand fulls of napkins from Mackers.... As a schoolboy county athlete in 6th form I won the Grammar School sports day mile by 100 yards but orchestrated the 880 yards the next day having got a pal to open a book on the race. On that day I went to kids asking them to put 5 bob on for me with my mate but not to tell him it was my money. A sting so they thought. However I got a house pal 220 yard Surrey schools champion just to "jog" around to get house point or two for our House to win the School Cup. In the 880 yatd race I led but stacked them up running 75 sec for first lap and you'd know the outcome. Procedes saw us go to Epsom to see Sea Bird II win. Not need need the money but to do a prank, a lark or a wind up is fun. As decades have passed by seems new generations are inhibited or who's imagination numbed by too much soppy tv, oh so serious schooling, one's cool image in looks and behaviour and social conditioning. Please applaud and embrace it. At a rugby league game last week a talented player did a foul where both teams players got "at" each other. During the cafuffle of players and officials trying to arrest the confrontation the offenders Manager quickly did a substitution sending out his far less talented twin brother. The Ref called "Bloggs over here please". As the substitute twin stepped forward she said "NOT you Sir, but your brother hiding in the dug out!". She had seen it all unfold and is a good ref. So Lester is at times was probably inviting, daring or challenging us to do a number on him. Nothing silly but smart but wait for the moment and situation.....

If both had ran in the same race with the same tatics on display here, Sea The Stars would have caught him in my opinion. He was also the better horse overall. Ran in far tough races against far superior competition in different countries. The ultimate racehorse for me

I never rated Jonjo I'm afraid. I think she won the Champion Hurdle in spite of him with poor pacing and in the Gold Cup that late change of direction was poor forward thinking. She was positioned poorly. What happened to her after was simply a disgrace and a tragedy.

What a legend he was.

Charmian Hill callous to the core……these animals give us their heart but there are people in the world not worthy to receive it and I would put Charmian Hill in that category. You need a trainer like Tom Dreaper who trained Arkle …….he calls people like her fools and idiots ……great horses with great talent and yet at the mercy of greedy selfish people …….I saw her there dead looking as happy as anything and that was good enough for me ………I have owned horses I have held my mare in my arms as she was put to sleep , my heart was torn in two , I grieve her every day …..this women renders me speechless

Through this entire documentary I have been on pins and needles over the care of this beautiful animal. As they said early in the documentary, not just anybody can care for a race horse.

That Charmaine hill was either very greedy or very silly that horse had nothing else to prove she'd broken all records she should of been retired to stud after that Gold cup win for sure.

In Britain everyone wants sporting heroes to be lovable and cuddly, I forgive any sporting superstar, which is what Piggot was, for being slightly prickly and unpleasant. Most British and Irish superstars have had flaws and not Angels. His tax problems were insignificant compared to city criminals who get knighthoods. In America, they worship their stars, warts n all.

He got his comeuppance via the revenue and he wasn't that tough. Geoff Baxter a throughly decent jockey and man called him out for what he was and flattened him. While Lester was expecting his valet to protect him. Please remember his self centred riding caused the death of a horse at Salisbury.
