You will hear the term 'SCHLAGER' very often! This was established between 1960 and 1970 as a term for German-language 'soft pop'! And yet that's not really true, because 'SCHLAGER' is a socio-historical term for German-language music that has always changed over the last 7 decades and 6 post-war generations and yet has remained the same! Simply put: 'SCHLAGER' is difficult to explain and VERY controversial in Germany [German-speaking EU]! 🙂 - If you were to translate the word “SCHLAGER” literally, you would have to say “slaying” in the positive sense!
