Making an Osage Bow, Part 4 Heat Bending
Oh my gosh--- Genius!!!! Even so you might want to mention if you ever need an MRI.....
I have a Singer Treadle 201 from 1948 and just absolutely love it. It is quiet and peaceful without an electric motor. I can go really slow when I need to and always have both hands free to work with. My other electric machines are neglected. I make a french seam when possible, instead of using my overlocker. My electric sewing machine is only used for making automatic button holes. Yes, it didn't sew and took me two weeks to go over all the bits and bobs and clean it all to find the whole needle area was back to front and underneath the needle plate a part was in upside down making the bobbin spin round and round instead of round then back again. It will sew just about anything.
How/ where do you get/make such good templates?
Seems like it's faster and more efficient than electric powered routers, unless you are mass producing of course.
I taught my son and daughter how to sew.❤ My son made the first skinny jeans because he was very slim.. Awesome moms! Mushrooms are also a dye source for fabric.
Pete, you made that look easy!
Thanks Jim!
Please don't use sewing machines like 28,15, 66, 201 and others for thick leather like belt. It is not designing for penetrating material. Only machines for leather or hand sewing.
I agree with you that they are not designed for sewing thin leather and canvas. But every time my wife would try to patch a pair of my jeans on her modern singer it would come out of timing and cost $75 to repair. But these old 66 singers get thrown away alot and I have maxed out the amount I can put under the foot and not one time did it come out of time. In fact I have never heard or seen one out of timing. I do use this machine most of the time with quilting fabric weight. My video was designed to show how strong and durable these old machines are. I personally believe in using things and not throwing them away. Best regards Pete
@@poorpetes canvas and jeans is OK because it is still a fabric and machine can handle it without damage. Leather have different structure. For example 15-88 hinge what connect mainshaft and needlebar is fragile and can broke easily. Be careful anyway.
Now that is skill 👏
Thank you!
I refurbished several old air rifles and thought I was brilliant. This is a whole new level. You are the man!
You made me laugh, thank you!
Nice work! 👏 good to see you again friend. :)
Thank you!
Not sure i still have the patience to go for precision anything anymore. I admire your skill, knowledge and patience
Thank you much!
Hey, how much do you want for that? Buffalo I'd love to buy it
Thanks Dennis, but unfortunately that one is not available. Email me if you would like a copy at Poorpete83@gmail.com
Cool pencil, it sounds like it would be accurate, your explanation of why they call them leads, makes perfect sense.
Thankyou!
Every single part of this game mode is truly about how to get people to buy packs. It’s insanely frustrating.
Two things that piss me off are the collector level rewards and the Breakout rewards. 1. For every 100 player cards you lock in, you only get $10K. 💩 2. Breakout rewards are trash. You can spend hours grinding to get to the portal, and even in HOF difficulty, rewards are badge option packs. Trash

I can see what you mean! Lol
Wow!
Just the tip...yep
Tempting fate mentioning never spilling ink, i touched wood just in case. You have what i call fancy writing, no matter how much i practiced i never got anywhere near as neat as that, left hander issues. Nice pen, fascinating video.
Lol, thank you for the comment, I always appreciate your posts.
@poorpetes always interesting, fascinating and educational, thank you for making the videos
I'm literally speechless! 😮 and 😊 and 😂
I mean, honestly.... I also love yo soak my tip
Thank you so much for restoring Dad’s pen! And thanks for the video.
My pleasure!
This is a special video. The pen in the video was made in 1940 and was given to a man's daughter when she was 13. Her father went overseas in 1943 in ww2, and she says, " he could have wrote mom a letter with that pen"
“Soak the tip in there for as long as you need”. Literally every 16 year old Mormon boy…
This made me laugh more the it should have. (Previously Mormon here)
I want a slo-mo shot of the pen being dipped in the water, beautiful
Alright, I'll do one!
It's such a nice green
I thought you had some chemical in the glass.
No, chemical, just water. This is an old Parker that was made in 1940 the friend of a friend had me rebuild it for her. She asked me when it was made and she text me back that her dad might have used that pen in 1943 to write home to her mom! I thought that was really special. A full video of the pen will post Friday.
@poorpetes that's awesome, another item with a cool story
Nice!
Thanks!
A British tank commander called Pat Dyas described how his tank was blown up by a Tiger in WWII and how shrapnel filled his face and eyes. A smart medic used a magnet to pull all the metal pieces out. Had he not quickly done that, Dyas said he would have been left blind for life. (Battle Stations: Tiger Attack @ 29:30).
Wow, that is awesome! Thank you for that!
What are you using to clean it? Water, Alcohol, Vinegar, something else?
Just water for normal, vinegar if it's really bad.
Also enjoy woodworking and have a 1925 Singer 66, lovely machine!
Awesome, it sounds like you're a DIY! I agree, it's a great machine!
They still have wooden ones like that for sale, but they cost way more than even a vintage Stanley 50, which I bought for a fraction of the price a while back and works great. Rex Kruger has videos on how to make DIY versions of these wooden plough planes, using chisels and scrap wood. I don't know if they're practical or not though. I made a set of blades myself from for the Stanley 50 because the originals cost so much. They fit fine, perhaps not as good, but at least I don't have to sell my kidney to buy a set. Thanks for the info on this.
Yeah, Rex Kruger has some really good videos for sure! Nice, sounds like your pretty handy with DIY, I'm glad you enjoy traditional woodworking! Thanks for the great comment!!!
Modern tools are fine and all, but the old school tools are something else. What did you do to treat the rust ?
4/0 steel wool and oil, and this has always been my go-to for rust.
That is such a neat tool, they sure knew how to make them. Be fascinating to know how much evolution it took for them to figure out all the little bits that make a huge difference, like the shape of the iron. Also great type about the wood screws, seems obvious but who would think to loosen them? Most people forget that things expand and contract
My grandfather gave me a book about planes, and the author alluded that the Kelts had planes before Roman invaded the Britions. Good comment, I love history!
@@poorpetes love history too, always great learning about things

Can you show your bench more? And that awesome brace? If you have.. I'm still going through your clips
I have a video on my work bench setup. I'll have to make a video on braces sometime.
Nice!
Thankyou!
Awesome man ❤
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I thought you made that depth from 4 passes. Then i rewatched and seen the grove already there. I was almost impressed. Cool plane non the less
It took many passes, but I cut it out to speed up the video. I have a full video of that plane scheduled for Friday. Thanks
@@poorpetes I figured you weren't trying to mislead. Ive never seen a plane like that. I'll watch that vid on Fri. Subbed. I haven't seen that plane myself.
@mrmaldoon8362 Yeah, it's a fun plane I don't use much except when I need it and am very glad I have it.
Looks like a great next whittling project. Thanks
Glad you liked it!
Good for you pal.
Quarter inch?
Yes
I've been wanting to get back into drawing and maybe try out modeling/carving, any tips? And great video! Glad it magically popped up in my feed. Hope to see more!
I have drawn and erased so many times to get my hand to do what my eye sees and I believe that when I transfer that to the piece of wood I am more successful because my hand and eye are more familiar with that shape. Thanks for the encouragement!
that was so relaxing to watch NEVER STOP THESE VIDEOS!!
Thank you very much! I will do my best!
Hello, a suggestion that can help you attract viewers is to not show yourself and don't talk, believe me. You have skills, make asmr videos and not explanation videos, because you guessed it, no one wants to see yet another man talking. They came to see your skills, utilise them. Good luck,
Thankyou! I will do my best to do asmr videos in December. Good suggestion!
Do your video your way. This person is rude and self-involved. They only speak for themself not the rest of RUclips.

@diamondperidot thank you for your support in me making videos. I wasn't offended by the suggestion and I actually enjoy them it makes me better I feel. I started getting thumbs down on some videos but I like knowing how I am doing and what people like. Thankyou for your support!
ahhhh, not a plastic handle in sight. beautiful 🤌🏼
Dude, that turned out mint as, just like a bought one! I always got to the point at 4.25, had the shape side on but struggled to get any further, no matter how simple the shape. Awesome carving
Thanks, i always appreciate your comments and imput! It's an encouragement to me. I just keep fiddling with it until I get it the way I want. I have started keeping a carving for myself so I can look and copy faster.
You made that look easy!
Thankyou! Nothing come easy to me! Hahaha
