Good video lots of info camera work really sucks maybe you should hold it instead of what you are doing thanks
My 1995 I bought straight piped, same issues as you describe, though new,
I have a 94 f100 and the reversed lights fuze slot number 5 is melted how would i fix that?
Thanks Bob, I've got a 91 i6 that bucks at 30-40mph, ill follow your guidance instead of throwing umpteen parts at it.
Thanks please let us know if that application helps.
My truck had it's CATs removed. Replacing Exhaust manifolds to the end (whole exhaust/muffler system) would do me well. Still saving up.
Just picked up a farm truck from Princeton, tx a week ago it starts up all right cold, but hesitates to start warm but will crank up eventually. Thinking FPR is the issue there. But once i get going and get up to 35-40 truck starts popping and lurches up to speed. thinking this is the issue gonna take the o2 sensor out and give her a spin in a bit
What ended up happening with your test and did you get truck running correctly
I pulled my o2 sensor and took it for a drive and it did seem to run a little bit better but not much. The symptoms you describe are the same as mine. I hooked up a pressure tester where the o2 sensor is suppose to go and I am only reading 2psi so there doesn't seem to be much blow back if the cat is clogged. I am almost sure its clogged but why am I not getting getting much blowback?
After 240 plus miles and old age, my cats were plugged from front into back second cat. If yours is old and high miles likely the same. You can start there and see what happens. After replacing everything the codes were saying was issue it did not seem to fix rough ride and popping until cats were taken care of. Also make sure all your sensor plugs are fully plugged in too.
Will the Cadillac converters make the truck not even run? Mine is cranking up shutting off cranking up shutting off... I have replaced everything that I could think of. Map sensor/ fuel regulators
Remove the O2 sensor just before the converters and leave the hole open see if just that little breathing room keeps it running. If so the converters may be plugged causing back pressure and may be your issue. That's what I did and found just that little opening made it run better
drill a 1/4 hole pre cat and hammer in inch long 3/8 brake line, measure pressure while running. should be under 2 psi for sure. push accelerator and see if pressure spikes. typically, as the cat clog gets worse, acceleration and high speeds become problematic with bucking, misfires, low power, and a muffled roaring noise. check pressure post cat with same procedure to make sure no blockage further back like a potato the neighbor shoved up your car butt.
To everybody experiencing this running issue!!! Wait til it’s DARK, take a friend, run it at highway speed a few minutes, pull over, have yer friend jump out & look at the exhaust pipe in front of the catalytic converter & and the converter itself, if its glowing orange or red hot! Its clogged & the hot exhaust gasses are being forced back into the engine through the exhaust manifolds, also it’s probably been running hotter than it normally does, higher water temp is a good “clogged cat gauge” so either replace it or gut it out, or cut it off & install a straight pipe where it used to be, but only if “you don’t drive it on public roads” wink wink, Problem solved, yer welcome. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. P.S. to the poster of this video & anybody else… if you notice the “heat cracks” in the black insulation on the hose mounted on the firewall directly above the engine? Thats a good indicator that there is a whole lotta heat rising up from just below the front cab area, & where is the cat? Right below the front of the cab behind the firewall area. The driver & passengers have probably felt the bottom of their feet burning lately? … another good indicator of red hot clogged cat. Hope this helps.
I watched 3 dozen videos trying to find out what wrong with my E250 (5.4) 2005. No help until I found this one! No wonder my feet have been sweating!!
Thanks for the video, you saved me a lot of time. I was stranded so I searched the symptoms, came across your video. So I drilled a couple holes in the front converter and was able to make it home with no problem. Thanks again!!
I'm glad it helped. When dealing with my converters, we found the guts of the front converter clogged up in the rear converter. Hindsight is 20/20, and I would have saved a lot of time, money, and frustration if I would have know to start with the catalytic converters first. GOD Bless
@@bobbyctexas9445 if I just cut the cats out it would fix it?

Love your truck, and the history behind it
Thank you ... it has once again become my daily driver.
Connect old fashion vacuum gauge
did you replace both cats?
Yes...
I have a 94 F-150, 5.0, and had THE EXACT same issues. Took it to the dealer and they wanted to put a new transmission in it. I found your video, cut the Cat and gutted it, and it INSTANTLY ran better! No more codes, and runs great now. Thanks!
Hallelujah... so glad to hear that.
Sounds like my same issue. 94 F-150. I've replaced everything. What I got going on at first was hesitation when I was driving. But now it's to the point where the truck won't even run. It will crank up shut off crank up shut off... I have replaced everything I think think that I would have to do with fuel/ ignition. I'm hoping I can cut off the Cadillac converter and it will work
Had the same problem with 1992 f150 5.0 . The ecm had a bad $2.00 10 watt resister in the board.
I'm having the same symptoms. Did your rpms rev up without pushing the gas pedal?
No . . Just ran bad.
Could be a bad idle air control valve there
I have a 91 and it is having same issues u are having
If you can try removing 02 censor just before the cats and see if just that little bit of airflow helps. If the cats are clogged up and form back pressure it makes other emmission sensors send codes like they need addressing. If I was to do over I would start with looking into and removing or replacing the cats. In my case I had some vacuum lines that needed to be replaced too and no matter what as they were old and leaking. GOD BLESS your transportation needs.
Man I've had ford's ally life well got one little over a yr ago and it's been doing same kind of things I've replaced about everything main thing was the mass airflow sensor well now it's back and I'm stumped man idk I'm thinking it is my converter I am replacing the egr feedback pressure sensor tomorrow there's only cple things I haven't replaced and same thing alot of rabbit holes alot of guesses this truck has a mind of its own you drive it for a while it heats up than you try to start it and has no power rough idle spits sputters just idk man never had any ford like this I know alot about em but this one has me stumped gonna try the converter I've replaced one 02 sensor pulled it out like you did ran it idk it's a crazy truck 220 k on it
Mines accelerates by itself I’ll be driving at low rpms it shifts good but out of nowhere it accelerates on its own like rpm hit 5...😐
How did you check the codes?
You need an OBD1 code reader
Look up a tutorial on RUclips for how to read codes on an OBD1 F150. You need to jump two pins on the diag port with a paperclip (very easy to do), then you can watch the check engine light blink out the codes. Worked well for me in the past till i got a scanner. Easier with a helper so you can say the code number out loud, and they can write it down so you don't take your eyes off the light
The catalytic converter was pushing excessive back pressure into the egr.
Seems like that was the main issue.
Hello I was just watching your video and it sounds like our truck is doing the same thing we have a 1995 Ford F-150 with a 5.0 and it's doing the same thing so it sounds like it could be the catalytic converter I'm going to try that just wanted to let you know thank you for the info it tells us ideas with what's wrong
Did it work?
I pulled the co2 censor just be for the cats and it ran better right away just with that little breathing room. Of course I created a check engine light but I could feel the difference in the way it ran. I did replace co2 censor after cats issue was corrected.
I’ve got a 95 f150 5.0 that idles rough and will eventually shut off if I don’t give it gas. When I’m driving, it’ll lose acceleration unless I floor it. I’ve done a lot of work to it. The o2 sensor is a year old. I’ll try taking off the sensor and drive it like that and see what happens
Did you get new catalytic converters or just the 02 sensors replaced?
I removed the old Catalytic converter and replaced the 02 sensor. What I did to figure out the problem was just remove the old o2 sensor and leave hole open and the truck ran better just with the little air hole from 02 sensor. The check engine light went off after i repleced the 02 sensor and took care of catalytic converter.
let us know if that fixed the issue
Did it fix the issue?
SAME EXACT PROBLEM.. 244,000 1995 F150. I just ordered fuel pressure regulator, egr valve , iac valve , sensors.. I thank GOD for you!!!!!!!!
It's the oxygen sensor that goes bad . Try that first before anything else
@@Mr-kj5zc the oxygen sensor alone can cause all these issues? Thats wild! Im learning about it just a bit, got a potential buy (lexus sc400) thats having these exact issues, could be a steal and easy flip
@@codezalo5773 yes also a faulty throttle postition sensor can give you the same problems and not bad sc400s are nice 👍
@@Mr-kj5zc appreciate the response! This is great to know, hopefully I get to look into it more !
@@codezalo5773 yea no problem 👍
THANK YOU MR BOBBY
I would change mines thanks 😊 i replaced Almost every sensors; vacuum lines intake gaskets, fuel injectors,or sensors and lack of power persist .
To test that theory remove the 02 sensor before the catalytic converter and drive it. when I did that I could feel it run better.
let us know if that fixed the issue
Note. I changed the O2 censor on the truck before taking care of cat issue. The problem persisted even after the O2 was first replaced. After a long detailed explanation and test drive with a friend of mine that knowing everything I had tried that he suggested pulling out the O2 to see what happened. The roughness and bucking loss of power stopped. I took it to a muffler shop and repaired cats. Try just replacing the censor and try running it with open hole and see if that helps. If it seems that back pressure is the issue then correct cats. The muffler repair man said the first cats guts were plugging up the second cat in line.
@@bobbyctexas9445 Great tip.
@@bobbyctexas9445 also on mine when you give it throttle you can hear and feel the air filter tube that runs to the front grill like cave in and squeeze in on it's self so idk what's going on with it I also commented another post about all the problems on here please lmk if you have any suggestions please read my other comment
