how did you fix this?
Did you manage to find the fault
I ended up tearing it right down and replacing the cylinder heads due to work valve seats. Ran like a Swiss watch after I’d finished it.
Where did you connect the smoke supply?

No. There were no gearbox issues on this car. It’s still running great with its new owner.

i have the same car its a range rover p38 and it got some things done with it

I do have the same sound and white smoke on side only and I found oil in my filter air now the car is not starting it's 3.6 v8 2007
We did get to the bottom of this, it was the EGR valve that was making the noise. According to a specialist, there's nothing wrong with it, it's still doing it and still running great.
It is throttle flap,adjusting it self.
Did you find out what the noise was? Mine is doing exactly the same!!
