@byondsunday "what's your take on that verse" is all i had to hear. Your own interpretation of verses is your first problem. Your second problem is this video you posted. The Church is Israel. Current Israel the nation state is part of rabbinic Judaism that has nothing to do with Christianity. In their holy book the Torah they speak very poorly of christians and even say Jesus is burning in hell.

@@noahfranklin9274 look at the order to the call to action. Love your God, love your neighbor as you love yourself. It’s putting yourself last and be a serving child of God. Yes love yourself, but the self is not at the center of focus.

@ I agree but to say not to love yourself is just incorrect

@ the gentleman didn’t say not to love yourself, he said deny yourself. Contextually “self love” in the secular use is to put the focus on you. The guest even said to really love yourself you must love God first.

The world’s understanding of self love is self centered. Christians love ourselves last. We love God first and foremost, then our neighbors, then us. What he is saying isn’t to not love yourself, but where is your love centered?

Why would a sick and twisted god even put a person through this though? Seems like the devil is better for not playing games with us

The devil is literally the reason why there is suffering 😅

How would you know it's rare? I would say the opposite is true as well. You can't judge all christians based on just anecdotal experience. If you're willing, I would love to have a convo on the phone and talk more about your experience.

But 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. " so if Scripture is God breathed how can it become out of date? Because Psalm 119:62‭-‬63‭, ‬67‭-‬68 says "At midnight I rise to praise you, because of your righteous rules. I am a companion of all who fear you, of those who keep your precepts. Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep your word. You are good and do good; teach me your statutes. " David prasies God's law as holy and good, why then is it now out of date? The Bible tells us God is the same yesterday and today, so if he didn't change then why does his law need to?
