I remember my first time with eternal I had to basically remind myself to not punch every possessed demon. In truth the combat is pretty different from 2016 to the point that when I went back to play 2016 after beating eternal, I was literally unable to play it properly anymore. Also I don’t really get the no ammo complaints. Using the chainsaw at the right times and you should be fine

I hope we get to see some new types of enemies and therefore some new ripping and tearing also i cant wait to pilot the mech

Give doom eternal another shot it amazing the problem was 2016 was to easy compard to eternal i gotta give it to you from what your saying your gameplay style is the complete opposite to how the doomslayer would be

Am i the only one who loves the doom lore/story? It actually goes really deep when you put all the codex entries together. The codex entries in eternal reference the dark ages when doomguy was fighting with the sentinels. Also in regards to melee in eternal, you get the blood punch which is way better melee than 2016. You can eventually upgrade it to 2 charges and massive damage. Freeze bomb then doing a big punch to blow up everything around you is a great crowd controller.

Normal punching doesn't kill demons in Doom Eternal, but they do make basic demons stumble. The Blood Punch however, a different deal altogether. One hit kills most demons (except for the really heavy ones, like Marauder, ArchVile, Doom Hunter and Cyber Mancubus). As you progress in the game, you get to upgrade your suit, where you can recharge Blood Punch with Glory Kills. The whole fun of Doom Eternal is constantly being on the move, I played on Nightmare the first time, and was able to clear the game with relative ease. Yes, I did die 30-50 times in a few levels, because I didn't move enough or use my ammunition smartly, but as you learn to use the ChainSaw, Flame Belch, Grenade and Freeze Bomb more often, man it becomes fun. Switching between weapons is super fun too. The difficulty of Doom Eternal is the very reason why I had been wanting to play the game for such a long while, and once I got used to destroying weak-points with Precision Bolt, killing Marauders with Ballista Shotgun combos, the game's levels seem pretty easy, even on Nightmare. That's the whole fun of the game, the fast paced action, making sense of things in all that chaos, that's pretty fun. Haven't tried Ultra Nightmare yet, I don't think I can clear it on UN yet. But I guess if you plan on spamming one weapon and not moving around so much, it won't be fun. Because the game will punish you for being stationary. The ammo capacity makes sense for the kind of learning curve they want their players to experience. Guess you'll have to use some infinite ammo cheat for that.

Hugo mentioned there will be more story in dark ages and more enemies on screen at once. The story takes place after 64 which is technically the 3rd game in the timeline. It’s said the gameplay will be more similar to the original and won’t be nearly as movement focused as 2016 or eternal. Also mastered ssg + gauze combo shredded everything in 2016. In most cases the ssg stuns heavy hitters in 2016 so escaping after the shot isn’t too hard. Eternal had a focused combat system that didn’t “force it” but at least encouraged you to use the mechanics in order to excel at the game. It takes getting used to for ppl who aren’t used to resource management, quick switching, and fast movement. Lucky for u, dark ages won’t be like that it seems.

From the trailer the super shotgun looks like it had the power of a grenade instead of… a shotgun. So beyond excited for next year between Dark Ages & GTA 6.

Sequel to doom 64. Timeline goes doom, doom 2, doom 64, the dark ages, 2016 and then eternal.

try DOOM 3 it's even more of an experience.

When they made Eternal i wondered how could they improve on it. Then they put a pull start on his shield and i knew everything was going to be ok.

If the OST can be half as good as DooM 2016 then I'll be happy. Of course they could have guaranteed that if they didn't screw over Mick Gordon like clowns last time. One of the dumbest things I've seen a developer do, ever.

We getting Hulshult again? Fine by me, blood swamps was possible my favourite mix from Eternal

Us Doom fans have been ripping & tearing demons for over 30 years now. And with The Dark Ages it seems like our fight continues or should I say it’s…eternal. ⚔️🛡️🔥

At this point, the music is just as important as the game. 2016 Doom set the path. I can't wait for the soundtrack for this game to come out!
