Curious, did you use a Disney travel planner on one of those trips and book on your own for another one of the trips? I think that might be the determining factor of whether or not they come in the mail beforehand.

@@mainstreetwithmargy we just book on our own usually. We do book quite some time in advance but I have never used a travel planner. I enjoy being the planner!! Lol 😂

If you ever want a Disney expert by your side, keep us in mind. It's already built in your cost to Disney, so you don't pay anything extra, and we don't rob you of your planning ;) But you do get our planning guide and a sounding board as you plan :)

I truly don’t understand. If you have a large group, sometimes you can’t book a reservation for a table for 8 or 10, so you have to split it into two separate reservations. Whats wrong with that?

@@mainstreetwithmargyyou truly don’t understand how the reservation is so they can have the tables ready to go before you get there. You arrive as 2 parties of 4 and say actually can we all sit together all 8 of us? I truly do not understand your lack of sense. 🤣

@@leiharachelle8486 when booking large parties, like 8 or more, I always recommend trying to book your entire party under one reservation. Unfortunately, that’s not always possible, so the next best thing is to split your party up into two groups. Of course there is no guarantee you will be able to sit together, but it never hurts to ask 💜

Genie+ is Disney’s paid system that allows you to skip some lines.

Absolutely! As long as the grandparents are at the attraction when you “sign up” for rider swap, that grandparent’s band will be scanned and he or she will be able to ride in group 2 along with 2 other people he or she brings (whether those 2 people ride the ride already or not!)

The Luna Family that’s a great question! I had to check since I haven’t actually upgraded before 😳. Disney says that your card will be charged right away, but remember that it will be personalized with your name on the back (the free ones do this too), which makes it personalized and non-refundable!

Kim Ryden Hi Kim! I’m not sure I fully understand your question 🤔 So the first group will ride using their FastPasses and the second group will ride using Rider Swap. When you ride using rider swap, you use the FP line whether the first group had a fastpass or not. Is that helpful? 😊

Hey! Yes, we did exactly this with my 3 kids (my 2 year old being the one that had to often stay back). When we arrived at the attraction, the cast member would ask if we had a FastPass for the ride, and we did, so we said yes. I'm pretty sure they are asking this to give you a time to return if they need to. However, all of our rider swaps lasted throughout the day. Ours didn't have a deadline to use them. This may sound great, but you can't get another rider swap until you use the current one you have. Your other option is to cancel your current one to get a new one. (I hope that makes sense). What I know about Disney is that so many decisions are dependent on the specific cast member. That's why I encourage anyone to hold their plans loosely. The whole planning of it can be a headache and may not be worth it. Be sure you are only using this method on rides that actually offer rider swap! Otherwise you'll get to the attraction and those without FastPasses won't be able to ride. I made that mistake with Alien Swirling Saucers, thinking my 2 year old was too short, so we had FastPasses for 1 adult and 1 kid when I should have had FP's for all. It all worked out because I was able to grab a FP later in the day for it. Thanks for the question. Congrats on the new baby 💜 remember that your baby won’t be able to get FastPasses since he/she won’t have a ticket, but your son will get to ride with the first party using his fastpass and again with the second party using rider swap!

Hi Kris! I'm am trying so hard to think of the correct answer for this, but I'm not really sure. If I remember correctly, I think just one of the adults from party 2 scans in and brings along the other 2 people. I'm sorry I can't say for certain :/

Hi Selene, y’all would use rider swap in the normal way - 1 adult would watch the twins while the other adult rides. And then the second adult rides while the first adult watches the twins. You and the other adult could work together to maximize FastPasses. Let’s say y’all want to ride Splash Mtn and Thunder Mtn, but the twins can not. You could get a FP for Splash Mtn and ride first. Then Adult 2 would ride using rider swap. At Thunder Mtn adult 2 would ride first using his/her FP and then you would ride using rider swap. It can get confusing. Just be careful that you don’t use this system for anything the twins could ride if the twins have a ticket (they are 3 or older). Anyone with a ticket that rides in the first group in the FP line, MUST have a FP. However, if the twins are infant to 2 years old, they don’t have tickets and therefore don’t need a FP to ride in that first group that’s going through the FP line. Remember, you don’t have to have a FP to use rider swap. You can always have group 1 wait in the standby line for the ride. Then group 2 will get to go through the FP line for rider swap.
