Greco Telecaster type - '70s Japanese electric guitar restoration
Просмотров 6 тыс.3 месяца назад
A regular at my favorite bar asked me to repair his 1978 Greco. In addition to the poor condition of the neck, the electrical system was also damaged and no sound come out. The truss rod in the neck was at its limit and could not correct the warping any further. I decided to remove the original neck and leave it as it is so that I can repair it in the future, and put a new replacement neck in i...
'70s Japanese Electric Guitar Fresher Restomod
Просмотров 7 тыс.4 месяца назад
I bought a junk electric guitar from the brand Fresher, which was sold in Japan in the 1970s, at an auction. Most of the hardware was missing and the paint was in poor condition, so I decided to try to make a restomod with the help of a friend. I had a hard time because the specifications of the parts didn't match the specifications of the parts currently sold. My friend refinished the guitar a...

I got a Greco EG800 made in 1979! It was a used guitar that was sold as a "good condition", but the body was dirty and the pots were scratchy and made a lot of noise. I decided to disassemble it and do some maintenance before playing it. 0:00 Condition 0:53 Disassembling 4:32 Body 7:54 Neck 8:48 Parts and hardware 10:10 Assembling 1 11:19 Electronics 11:40 Assembling 2 14:25 Finish / Sound demo

This is Tokai's Les Paul Copy guitar Love Rock made in China. It looks like Gibson's Tak Burst Les Paul, but it's a lot cheaper than that.
Grote Modern T Gear Review + Short Demo (Turn on captions / no talking)

This guitar sells for about $200 on Amazon. A Telecaster-type guitar with modern features such as a roasted maple neck, stainless steel frets, and a locking tuner. It looked interesting so I bought it and reviewed it. This review is written using subtitles. Please turn on subtitles and watch.
Greco EW-82 T.O.M
Просмотров 46710 месяцев назад
At the end of the year, I got another guitar. Greco EW-82 T.O.M is a guitar built in Japan around 2010. It's a guitar that seems inspired by PRS McCarty, but with a detachable neck. Since it has T.O.M. bridge, the response is quick and direct, making it a guitar that suits rock sounds well. Repairing the junkiest Les Paul type guitar ever
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.11 месяцев назад
I bought a Les Paul type guitar from an unknown manufacturer at an auction. Although it was written that there would be no problem with playing, the guitar's neck was severely warped when it arrived, and the strings were over 1cm high at the 12th fret. Since the truss rod was also at its limit, I decided to try correcting the fingerboard and making a refret for the first time. It took a year to...

Nice!
Clean?
Oh man, You’re wiping all the mojo away! Now it’s going to sound completely different! 😂
Puedes facilitar las medidas del cuerpo de esa guitarra, me gustaria hacer ese cuerpo para modificar una que tengo
What is this model ?
I bought it second hand so I don't really know the model name. Probably ALS-50QZ

A Greco Seymour Duncan/Jeff Beck Tele-Gib tribute - nice! Sounds awesome - great outro jam! That looks like a Gotoh string tree but what make is the neck? 🤔
Thank you:) Yes, it is Gotoh
Honestly I’d gig with the SE no problem. The difference is negligible
True😎I have no complaints about my SE, but I do like the beautifully sculpted body of the USA Core series.
as an owner of a 212 just like that in the video, it is an absolutely great guitar. just don t pair it with the cheapest amp like i did when i bought it
I am thinking of buying a used Fender (Squire) Stratocaster but I need to ask a repair question of someone as knowledgeable as yourself. The seller says, "the port where you plug in the cable unscrewed and fell loose inside" Could you please speculate how big of a repair this is and what's involved? Thank You
Sorry for the late reply. If you have experience with soldering it should be a very easy repair. Even if you have no experience with soldering, if you have the right tools and can learn how to solder, I don't think it's a difficult task, but for me soldering was one of the initial challenges.
coverd pickups sounds more "Les Paul" to me
Great video! I’ve seen one of these for sale recently- just wondering whether it is a full hollow body or a semi hollow with a solid centre block? I’m looking for a full hollow at the moment. Thanks!
Unfortunately it’s not a full hollow. It has a center block.
That certainly gives a new meaning to "scalloped fingerboard"...I don't remember seeing that amount of wear on a fingerboard in my life... Great video and great work...
The wear on this fingerboard was incredible! Thank you:)
2万の音じゃないな
That’s the deepest fret wear I’ve ever seen! Great vid!
Thanks :)
ネック変えた、、、びっくり。再使用できなかったのか、、、
Great demo! they all sounded great but which one felt the best?
@@funfreq9282 Thank you. The Fender is the easiest to play, but there is a feeling that the sound is muffled on the higher frets, and I feel that the Suhr has the best resonance.
@@croquetteguitar looking at a spec’d out Suhr but that price tag is a bit lofty! I just took position of a used Schecter Nick Johnston SSS, with a little massaging it could get in the ball park! Not a bad fiddle for the money and a great platform for modding.
Hall Helen Hernandez Michael Allen Ronald
I could hear a difference in tone with each one but i think 90% of that difference was due to you being more comfortable on thr Fender and rhe Suhr.
@@patrickhernandez9529 That's so true!
Does it stay in tune after using whammy bar? Cool video
To be honest, the bridge on this guitar is not very good. It goes out of tune easily, and it's hard to use because it's not very sturdy and bends.

A Greco "JEFF BECK" Model!
Yes, exactly! :)
why does everyone shit all over this. the mesa sounded fucking rad. great vid too. thanks.
I am glad when people shit on great gear means you get to pick it up at great prices lol. I just got one for 130 at guitar center with a Line 6 40 watt Spider Valve tube amp with v30 speaker in it for 200. Got this thing so I can play with headphones on it.
It does seem to have a nice clean tone. I don't get along with the other tones in it, or when I used it with any type of gain pedal, but the clean is respectable. Your recording sounds really good.
I’m sorry, but I don’t hear any difference between this and Suhr, Anderson etc… nicely done.
Nice one and nice playing too! Do you use electric or acoustic strings on this guitar?
Thanks:) I use 09-42 electric guitar strings on this guitar.
I really enjoy your videos and always look forward to new content with excitement. Great work! However, I personally believe that preserving the original relic on a guitar is important. These guitars shouldn’t be cleaned too much. The patina and mojo must stay intact. With the neck replacement, some of the original mojo and road-worn character might have been lost, which is a bit unfortunate. However great content and keep on!
Thank you! I know very well that it's important not to clean old guitar too much. This time, I wasn't confident in fixing the original neck, so I decided to keep it in its original state and temporarily put a new neck on it, but I'll try to restore the original neck someday!

Hi! Watched all of your vids about yamaha pacifica line of guitar Im buying my first electric guitar and cant seems to find the different between the sound of 112v and 112 vm or should i pick the 112j. Which one would you suggest? Nice restoration btw
Thank you for watching the videos. Personally, I like the slightly distinctive sound of a maple fretboard, so I like the 112VM. However, if you're looking for an all-purpose guitar as your first purchase, the 112 might be more versatile. However, either way, there's no doubt that both guitars are worth more than their price, so you won't regret whichever one you choose!
Glad I found this video. Someone gave me an old Squier Strat that hadn't been used for a long time, but it's very dirty and I'm looking videos to get an idea how to clean it. Thank you.
Thanks :)
I love Suhr the most , im kinda bias ,lol, b/c suhr is one of my dream guitars.
A bit of the chime has gone but probably a better fit for a Les Paul😊
i prefer 012 :O sounded amazing
Cool video. Some of those old lawsuit guitars from Japan play very good. I want to know where did you get that small power screwdriver? I've never seen one like it. If ya don't remember does it have a brand or model number?
Thank you:) The screwdriver I use is VESSEL BALL GRIP Rechargeable Screwdriver Cordless No.220USB-1U
@@croquetteguitar Thanx just ordered one on Amazon. 😸
Do you mind sharing where you got the Gold tuning pegs? I have an Aria Pro II Custom that needs that exact set. PS - great job by the way.
Thanks :) I don't know the exact model number of the pegs I used for this repair, but they are made by Musiclily. Maybe this one www.amazon.com/Musiclily-Semiclosed-Epiphone-Electric-Replacement/dp/B015J0OY66?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1
A strat guy that I am say that the nasal sound of covered hunbucker dont sit well with me
That is a drop dead gorgeous looking Classic brother. Beautiful top and finish on it. As soon as you slapped those nickel covers on, you made that sucker look every bit as beautiful as any custom shop R9 does at first blush. Good job man, great guitar!❤
Why would you put it before the overdrive instead of after?
Because he wants to mute the unwanted String noise
Takanaka Blue
😎
А "колокольчик", крышечку, чтоб закрыть анкер на головке грифа, почему не поставил?
I'm impressed that you noticed that. Actually, when I installed the nut, the cover somehow interfered with the nut and I couldn't install it. I'll think about a solution soon.
@@croquetteguitar 😀👍
Superb work! What an amazing transformation! ❤❤❤ Nice playing at the end.👌👌👌
Thanks :)
The paint work... 😐
Well done! Love the gold hardware! How did you cut the plexiglass? You just kept going with the box cutter until it went all the way through?
Thank you! The cavity cover was made by roughly cutting the Plexi glass with a cutter and then rounding off the edges with an iron file. (8:09 -)
"Restomod". What a stupid word. 🥴 Guitar looks killer though. Rough finish but I love that blue. 🤘😎🤘
Thanks 🤘😎🤘
Nice work with the frets, however I would have left the paint alone. I believe it would be a good idea to consider re painting the top again.
Thank you. Although the refinish didn't go well in some areas, I'll keep it like this for a while as a record of my first attempt and think about repainting it someday!
so much effort and then you do that spray job, my man why??
We wanted to create something unique look this time, so I asked a friend of mine to paint the guitar with an image of an old English pub sign.
Very nice project 👍🏻
Thanks :)
