Where do you think the Japanese got the idea? The form hasnt changed much since the Han dynasty, only the function and names have changed. Like any weapon in any period in any part of the world, as warfare constantly evolves, so do different strategies to counter different methods of battle, so your ridiculous comment that they "haven't been at the forefront is absolutely meaningless.

這苗刀不行，不懂變通，對方長劍是兩面刃，斬刺範圍都比苗刀多，長度也不輸苗刀，兵器上不占優還生搬硬套定膝刀勢，真是挨打的份。

For a weapon with such little history, the Chinese have really put this sword on the forefront. Makes me believe they just like katanas.
Long swords in China go all the way back to the iron age, both Dao and Jian. The Miao Dao/Changdao/Dandao is just a more modern interpretation

大哥, 用起来和耍起来是有非常大的差距的,还有一点就是单挑用和群对群的多种情况不同战术下差别更大, 但是最大的差别你要认清的就是实战和挥练来保感的差距. 实战中能用到大开大合华丽生猛的章套动作的情况也只能建立在极为少有的反击情况下的, 比如对方一直被压制走后腿 步伐凌乱 手也乱的情况 你把其武器和这个人的重心控制到可以安全使用那些动作的地步才能用上, 不然你可以试试不带那个环节直接来套路, 看你会被长剑手直接跃上来捅你脸上多少次就知道了. 普通概括来讲, 讲是首先得一直探视和还击, 假动作等来建立一个"桥梁"来让你用那些"套路", 这个环节也只有 还击/防守/走位 反应都快的站姿和步法才经得起压力和突袭的考研, 找角度和机会去伤害他, 到他小伤积累一定程度缓慢了你也会很有机会用大开大合的东西把他完结, 但是不要忘了, 根据中古世纪的记载, 大部分不穿护具的对决都是以切手腕为主的, 大开大合通常只是意味着两败俱伤, 双入尸带的
