Thanks for the video! Consider reposting it without the “music” as it makes it difficult to hear what you are saying.
Awesome video I look forward to seeing the 100kw battery swap.
Great idea! Just wonder how it effect in terms of build up temperature in the unit? Also if anybody did test how it effect your battery range? Thanks!
Great vid!
Do you have to drop the LDU from the car to get this part off?
@Toob41 yes and its best to open up and clean as these seal drool over time and a good idea to inspect the rotor bearings.
What diameter drill bit 6mm?
How can I reach you or get in touch with you ??
You guys rock !
What about the metal shavings I noticed inside the unit in the second part of the drilling demonstration? Wouldn't that cause internal damage?
Can you make a video showing how you did this? I mean, how to build the device you made so that others can raise their Model S when it is like that and there is nothing we can do?
"Final boss" suspense music kinda fits the dreading need to take the engine out of the car to do it.
Does the coolant come out when removing the manifold?
Thanks for the content! Looking forward to getting this fixed
I bought the cap and getting ready to drill, having a hard time finding that at a local parts store, any suggestions for finding this in brick and mortor?
Well done with landscape mode and tripod use at the start. Please don’t bother with the music as we are here to learn and understand. When we want music we will find it elsewhere! Thank you.
Can add this without having to drop the LDU? Would be cool to see a video of the complete swap process. - Thanks! \
Thank you for going to landscape mode…. I was watching the original Alien movie with my son the other day, and this music reminds me of a sci-fi thriller, almost terminator. Expecting a face hugger to pop up or possibly Arnold Schwarzenegger to bust through the door at any moment.
Nice simplification with the big pipe!
Well shit....hmmm
Good that you switched to landscape format for those of us watching on big screens. But the music is still so loud it is hard to hear what you're saying. I like the bypass but I don't have the possibility to remove the motor myself. Any shops in the Dallas area that will do it?
No need too!!!
If it wasn't a problem, they wouldn't have needed to find a work around.
Even Tesla has an update “U” motor that basically does the exact same coolant delete
did toolbox 3 automatically recognize the pack capacity and show it as the larger pack on the screen? or is that another programming step?
Tesla models usually have a concept precision to follow but thank you!!!
This is not a TESLA component or carbon engine ....maybe a forklift but best of luck...
How do I order this part? Thanks
What problem is this solving? Seems they went to some trouble to design and implement cooling there.
Read up on LDU failures ... a seal fails eventually and allows coolant into the inverter side and destroys the entire LDU to the tune of $5000
@@b4804514 ouch. So without the coolant it lives longer, even with the extra heat?
How easy of a removal and install is this? Will coolant be lost removing this piece?
Good stuff.
Thank You! Ordered and installed last week. Works great.
@@TRReynolds how hard was the install and did you lose any fluid installing ?
I caught the fluid in a clean container, though it was minimal because I clamped off the two hoses first.
Easy install on a 2013 RAV4 EV. Easy access thru passenger wheel well. Toughest part was removing bottom plastic skid plate to access second coolant line to clamp off.
Awesome!
Good afternoon, tell me where the switches are connected to the suspension valve block itself?
Is this the same cap to suit the RAV4 ED and Mercedes B250e that use the Tesla drive train?
I’ve a B250e that is also looking for a coolant delete.
I'm in the UK Gonna buy this cap. It's the best fix but also the cheapest.
Like the video , are you selling the cap ? Happy to purchase if you ship to the UK
Yes we are. Tesx.net
I'm also in the UK. NW. Interested to hear of your progress as it's something I'm also considering.
Hi, did you buy the cap?
Dear Sir, Thank you for your help! Bagged out suspension is what almost all of us Model S first genners experience at some point. I even bought tubing, T-fittings and 4 shredder valves to install them between the valve block and the air springs in hope to be able to pump the corners one by one in a case of emergency. Which is not a reliable solution (adding more leak spots). Please, give us a bit more information on the electrical and air connections you made. Thank you in advance!
CNC precision workshop, Tesla approved no doubt?
Tesla approved? Im sure they have never heard of me. Tesla idea copied possibly.
So what is the impact of this delete on cooling?
Its the same as Tesla's new U code replacement LDU
Do we ear some clank while driving?
How did that happen? Metal fatigue after many accelerations or vibrations?
This video seems to offer exactly what I need, to get my car to the service center near me. But I would be REALLY grateful for any additional detail on how to connect the external compressor & power for the valve. From what I can see, it looks like you've cut the purple pipe and added a t-junction. I'd have to work out how to do that. And then how to connect wires to the valve for the front...
Great video Paul!
Great video. What happens if you hammer it in instead? Also, what is the function of that removed C-clip?
A basic bench vise is better. Hammering shocks the assembly and could lead to gaps in the retaining compound. If you don't have a big socket to match that diameter, the caps were designed with a lip around the edge that allows you to press them in with a block of wood. Only that outside edge makes contact with the aluminum. The 2nd step is just to allow the rotor to clear the cap. The C-Clip helps hold the long tube in place while the glue dried during the original assembly. With the length of the tube and potential inertia removed and the assembly fully cured, it isn't necessary to hold anything in place.
Great video!
Good video, we don’t have a “P” but I know people that do and they are hitting the market cheap when they have issues so I’m sure doing these is in my future.
It isn't just the P cars. ALL rear wheel drive cars and all P-Performance dual motor cars have this LDU. Only the non performance dual motor cars have a different motor without the issue. Model 3/Y and the newest S/X are also safe.
Incomplete video! Please show where you plug in and how push air into suspension?
Thi seems to be the same video you posted on May 2nd.
Great video, a couple of comments: 1. It's coolant delete title is misleading as it is not coolant delete. 2. That is not the definition of "a blind hole" Otherwise very good.
"coolant delete bandaid" more like it
Oh my goodness what is that scraping sound...or is it a rattling sound...
Nice. That is a very long drill bit. And it did not break.
Hi! That's not the right way to install it, the air suspension link will be more stretched out. The tuning side must be on the wheel side.
But it's so much easier to adjust!
i found it easier to drill from the other side (like u showed on removed one). also u only need about 6in drill bit length
