Nice job DUD ,, one can use epoxy Rains , and fiber glass cloth , biaxal cloth is my fabrate , cut the peace , and wet them out on something , take them inside the trunk ,, and full in all the holds in the dash.. let dry ,, putty ,,, them ,, sand ,,,, to full in the dash ,, the make it look oldy .....

That mirror fastening was a safety feature, the function being if you were in a prang and your head hit it, the mirror would drop out. (Of course, that would really help as you passed through the windshield!)
