…so müsste sie doch auch im Finale des Chopin-Wettbewerbs in Warschau bestehen (Gold)?!! Gerade Variationen La ci darem Op. 2…noch nie in solcher Vollkommenheit gehört. Und wirklich eine große Weiterentwicklung zur vorherigen Version bzgl. musikalischer Aussagekraft und Kreativität. Mir fällt nun keine vergleichbare Aufnahme mehr ein. Nicht einmal Bruce Liu oder Lim etc. Ich drücke die Daumen für eine erfolgreiche Zukunft.

I don't know whether she is related to Bruce or not, but she is another colt from the stable of Dang Thai Son, for whom I have the highest respect. If you see her as a kid, then this is very good playing worthy of the warmest praises. At 16, girls want to be taken seriously and she and the people around her want her to be the next Yuja Wang, so to speak. Even her beautiful dress pays tribute to the piano goddess. Someone, though, has to tell her she is not at the professional level yet, and a few years of proper conservatoire training are needed. She is full of promise, but to pretend she is ready for the limelight, and to promote her not as a prodigy but as a serious artist would be destroying her. Dang himself was unfairly reviled by the critics for decades for this reason. Sophia needs to work on the tone; instead of coaxing a beautiful sound from the Steinway, she has a tendency of just hitting the keys. She also needs to work on phrasing; she needs to learn to hold back and relax rather than rushing ahead. There are plenty of interpretation niceties and delightful touches, but they can seem premeditated and calculated rather than extemporaneous (on the spot).

Cool. Real nice to see more peeps trying larger works by Bach in competitions. The Bourree was cool and you nailed it. Probably the trickiest dance in the suite for most students.

Normally, I don't like Chopin very much, but this is just sublime.

Serious critique, her playing is a shallow and childish as one can be, she sounds like someone who has never gotten any sort of musical maturity whatsoever, at 14:57 rushing so hard, negating the beautiful melodies that Liszt intertwined, I would much rather she play slower and more musical
